Much more luxurious than the other 4 star Birmingham hotels we've stayed in.

All that place is very modern and quiet, in nice neighbourhood, 15 minutes walk from the city centre (Bullring). Plenty of shops and cafes nearby. Vending machine in the lobby offers snacks and hot/cold drinks for a pound. The free Wifi is super fast and always works. The only small minus is that after long hot shower whole room gets really steamy. Also there is no place to put your things or bags but that is not really a big problem. It will definitely be my first choice for my next stay in Birmingham really soon!

I stayed in this hotel before I had read any of the reviews and was surprised at how poorly it had been reviewed by some others. This hotel is a beautiful old building with Gargoyles adorning the outside, but it is very old, my room was modern to an ok standard and clean, there is some refurbishment going on in this hotel but it will take some millions to get it complete but they are doing it up, I did overhear some other guests complaining about their rooms so clearly not all were done yet so be ready.. my room was a perfect example of the photos shown on Agoda and clean, location wise it was perfect and there are some great local bars that do good food, the hotel is located in the poorer end of town and initially I was very wary walking the streets but I found the locals friendly and polite, this end of town has turned into bit of a student mecca with a college and backpackers near by, so it has a young but laid back vibe but for its location for me was perfect for the price and only a 5 minute drive into the centre of town.I understand some of the gripes I have read but this hotel caters for the wedding parties so it can get a bit noisy,I had someone trying to get me up at 6am because he had the wrong room!! but all in all a very nice stay and would go back, one thing I would add is that I wouldn't leave an expensive car on the street and be careful of valuables being left on seats as I saw broken glass on the floor where a window had been put through in the past,but my car was fine (its older)and so were the other guests, I never saw any trouble and wouldn't have an issue staying here again.

Of course it was not the fault of the hotel, and if it had continued the 2nd night we would have mentioned it to the staff at reception. The reception staff are great, very helpful, efficient, polite, great customer service. We didnt have breakfast in the hotel so cant comment on that. Will always check the price on this hotel when visiting Birmingham as it could not be better situated for a trip to Birmingham for those on public transport.

This is a good hotel. Distance from New Street station is fantastic but its a shame the surrounding area is so grubby and run down. The welcome and checking-in was warm and professional. The room was very good, a little cold though. No matter what I tried to do with the thermostat, nothing seemed to change this. I did mention it when leaving the hotel. I should have said it during my stay to be honest. One of the main reasons for booking this hotel, apart from location, was its gym. I was hoping it wold be a good one and one I would expect to be in a 4 star hotel. But it was awful and useless. 6 dumb bells, 2 running machines, 1 rowing machine. There were 4 people working out in the room and that was over crowded. If someone was using the dumb bells, you had no chance unless you wanted to be hit in the face by one. It was the worst gym I have ever seen in a 4 star hotel. I did speak to reception about this and they said it was going to be refurbished, no date was given. This was the only down side to it and dont want it to over shadow what is mainly a good hotel

This is a regular hotel for my friends and family as it's right there in The Mailbox so great to stay overnight if we are having a night out in Birmingham. The hotel is good, centrally located and very modern. It also has a good spa. Rooms are average size for a modern hotel, fitted with everything you need and the service is always good. I requested a bath robe and it came within a couple of minutes.The bistro is quiet and rather expensive but you are metres away from a dozen restaurants including Marco Pierre Whites and a stroll down the canal to some great pubs. However, I pre-paid for this room using Agoda and in fact explained this as the receptionist wanted to take the room payment when I arrived. she checked it and said, "Oh yes, that's correct. However can I take an imprint of your card just for any incidentals?" I explained there would be no incidentals but she insisted it was hotel policy.

The hotel was very bright, clean and cheerful. The staff were all smartly dressed, friendly and efficient in their work. The restaurant, although we didn't eat there, looked clean and well presented. The bar was also very clean. The room was a lovely size, well decorated and very clean. Our stay was very nice and I would recomend the Crown Plaza to everyone.

This was a fabulous hotel. The room was crisp, clean, with aircon ! Yay ! Needed it on a really hot day ! The beds were comfy with a choice of firm or soft pillows. Shower was easy to control but could have done with a bit more power. We were offered a room on the top floor which was great. Absolutely no disturbance at any point. However, I shall definitely be staying in these hotels around the country again.

I booked and paid in full for a one night stay to attend my Daughter's graduation. On my way to Birmingham I received a phone call to say that the hotel through a "technical issue" was overbooked and they were moving me to an alternative outside the centre. To cut a long story straight through Agoda I found another room at an alternative hotel just down the road. So when the receptionist at the AC said there was no rooms available in Birmingham he obviously hadn't tried looking very hard.

The double room originally assigned was small and claustrophobic, but a friendly receptionist quickly moved us to an handicapped-accessible room on the same floor (6th) which was much better. A/C worked well, bathroom very compact but clean with modern fittings. Only complaint was the fixed shower head, making it difficult for my wife to wash her hair....Stayed 2 nights. Recommend the quaint but fascinating Pen Museum in the nearby Jewellery Quarter.

We arrived at about 6.30 to check in, this was completed quickly. We were advised not to put out room card near our mobile, which we immediately forgot and then couldn't get in the lift. The location isn't the best in birmingham and it's a good 20 mins walk to broad street however we were going to the jam house which was literally around the corne so was ideal for us. We were advised to be up early if we didn't want to queue for the buffet breakfast. We went down for 8.40 till about 9.15 and there was no queue. There was plenty of choice if foods, juices and drinks. Check out wasn't till 12 so we could take time getting ready and then reception called us a taxi and advised us how much it should cost to get back to the station
