We found this Hotel to be very convenient for our purposes. The Staff were very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Any extra items i.e. towels coffee etc. were obtained from the desk without any problem. The rooms were very clean and serviced every day. As it was very hot and no A/C in room, it became a bit uncomfortable to sit in the room for...We found this Hotel to be very convenient for our purposes. The Staff were very friendly and helpful. As it was very hot and no A/C in room, it became a bit uncomfortable to sit in the room for any length of time. I suppose it was unusually hot for Edinburgh, so couldn't be helped. The only problem with room was the total lack of drawer space, but apart from that, perfectly adequate. It is a very conveniently placed hotel within a few minutes walk of most amenities and only 5 minutes walk to Princes Street. Overall we had a pleasant stay at this hotel and would recommend it to anyone.

Such an excellent hotel that oozes boutique luxury. Recently refurbished, so everything is clean, new and lovely. Style is a mix of Scottish, luxury and South East Asia (think Penang) decor, but everything works really well and is to a very high standard. Very comfortable and cosy rooms and excellent facilities. Staff was brilliant and very friendly - we had to leave bags behind the check-in desk for a few days and everything was well looked after and safe. Definitely my go-to place to stay in Edinburgh!

My husband and I stayed in early April for the weekend and were greeted by a glass of complimentary champagne. The rooms are all bespoke, our room had a “Rio” theme and featured carnival photos and Christ the Redeemer covered one wall. The full Scottish breakfast featured haggis and potato scones and was delicious. The only drawback was the nightclub that is underneath the bar and was as you would expect very noisy on Saturday night. The hotel does provide a sleep pack featuring ear plugs and a pillow spray. As it happened a full day walking around Edinburgh was enough to wear us out, so we had no need of the sleep pack. The staff were very attentive and willing to help store luggage etc if needed.

My stay in Apex Waterloo Place Hotel is perfect! The hotel is located at the city center and visitors can easily travel to different tourist points and restaurant under walkable distance. The hotel is just right next to the Edinburgh Christmas Carnival and the tourist meeting point for local tour "rabbies" so that I can fully utilise the time I stayed in Edinburgh. ...My stay in Apex Waterloo Place Hotel is perfect! My package didn't include breakfast and the price for the food there is a bit high, but I think that's normal for a 4 star hotel. Generally I had a wonderful stay in Apex Waterloo.

They can store your luggage for you free of charge which is perfect when checking in or out allowing you to explore Edinburgh. I did not have breakfast at the hotel but it’s close proximity to the new town and other local cafes was brilliant. My only reservation was that I was in the furthest building from the WiFi hub so it didn’t work. Try to request a room in the main building but other than that for the price I paid as a solo traveller (£70 for 2 nights) I was impressed. I would definitely recommend this hotel for the furnishing in the room, the interior, the character feel, the staff and the hotel is stunning and made my stay very comfortable and enjoyable.

Request to change badly cracked leaking kettle was ignored by reception staff with water leaking directly over socket! And reminded them again when we left. Shower curtain smelt foisty. Decor dated being old but acceptable! Fried eggs and yolks always like hard rubber! Haggis not topped up daily When finished. We love staying at the Mode Edinburgh. Fantastic location in New Town - Quiet yet very near all the sights, restaurants and shopping. The hotel facilities are tip-top and the room is immaculate. He even helped us with booking for the highlands tour in such a short notice. Breakfast is wonderful, withe a range of choices we can have to start the day off. The ambiance of the place is so calm...We stayed in Edinburgh for 3 days, and booking at this hotel was one of the best decisions we made. The hotel is conveniently situated within walking distance from almost all the places you must visit at the city. At a very affordable price, it greatly exceeded our expectations and we had such a wonderful time. Everything came so easy, I recommend this to everyone planning to visit Edinburgh.

The staff were exceptionally helpful; we had arrived early that morning, and they were extremely accommodating in holding our luggage, getting the room ready ahead of time, and making us comfortable in the interim. Additionally, they offered complimentary wifi for guests, which had been unheard of in our travels in the UK up to that point (and this was 5 hotels into our trip). I can provide only two slight negatives. The first is not actually the hotel's fault; the street in front of the hotel is currently undergoing major construction and is therefore closed...so getting to the hotel involves a bit of a walk from the nearest taxi drop point (which is around the corner, around half a block or so). This is not a slight against them; however, if you're in a wheelchair, it could represent a problem. Which brings me to the second (related) item: the rooms are accessible solely via staircase, which could prove prohibitive to those with physical handicaps. Overall, we had a great experience here, and I would strongly recommend this hotel.

I was pleasantly surprised by Rick's Hotel. I was looking for an affordable hotel near the city (not an easy feat!) that was clean and safe. Rick's hotel fit the bill perfectly; the staff were very friendly and always willing to help. The room was beautiful and included a TV, hair dryer, hair straightener and an ipod (with dock) that you could use to play music. I have...I was pleasantly surprised by Rick's Hotel. I was looking for an affordable hotel near the city (not an easy feat!) that was clean and safe. Rick's hotel fit the bill perfectly; the staff were very friendly and always willing to help. The room was beautiful and included a TV, hair dryer, hair straightener and an ipod (with dock) that you could use to play music. I have never seen this feature in a hotel before and thought it was a wonderful idea. The hotel was also very quiet and was very close to the city. Prices Street, Edinburgh Castle and the National Gallery are only a few of the attractions that were only a short walk away. It was also very close to Waverley train station, which was perfect as it took the stress out of finding the hotel and dealing with taxis. Overall I was very pleased with this hotel and would recommend it to anyone!

I stayed at No.11 Brunswick on 2 separate occasions bookending a tour to the Highlands in the middle, and I adore this boutique hotel! The story behind this house gives it such character, which I found charming and apt considering Edinburgh and Scotland is full of stories both real and in folklore. The hotel is on the New Town side, on a quiet street about 15 mins walk...I stayed at No.11 Brunswick on 2 separate occasions bookending a tour to the Highlands in the middle, and I adore this boutique hotel! The story behind this house gives it such character, which I found charming and apt considering Edinburgh and Scotland is full of stories both real and in folklore. The hotel is on the New Town side, on a quiet street about 15 mins walk to Waverly station. A lovely change from the standard lodges or hotels in the city. I stayed in a single room (room 4) in the first part, and really liked the space of the single room; quite different to other single rooms of standard hotels I have stayed at previously. The bathroom has no door but who needs one in a single room :) There is plenty of light coming into the room with its floor to ceiling windows which I appreciated, and the furnishings are classical and contributes to the hotel's character. I found the room cosy and warm, again quite different to other draughty hotel rooms in the UK and one thing I was grateful for as I am from the tropics. I returned to No.11 after visiting the Highlands to a double room (room 10) on the top floor and that was my favourite and it really felt like I was coming home. The high windows, luscious bed, muted grey tones of this room was so welcoming I ended up NOT going out that evening but instead stayed in, borrowed a DVD from the hotel's lounge and almost didn't want to check out the next day! Last thing that I was very impressed with is the impeccable service by Richard and Mindi at the front desk who took the trouble to remember my name, greet me with lovely smiles and made me feel at home. Monika at the restaurant was also lovely during breakfast, making sure I had enough tobasco sauce for my Scottish fry up. I'm so glad I found a bit of Edinburgh I can consider home - No.11, see you soon, I shall be back!

I'm not a person to be effusive but this is the best hotel I've ever stayed in. Everything was perfect and I cannot think of anything that spoiled it. It made for a beautiful Christmas for us. Every member of staff was so professional and friendly; every piece of decor oozed class; the food was incredible. We loved the toy owl and accompanying picture book as a pre...I'm not a person to be effusive but this is the best hotel I've ever stayed in. Everything was perfect and I cannot think of anything that spoiled it. It made for a beautiful Christmas for us. Every member of staff was so professional and friendly; every piece of decor oozed class; the food was incredible. We loved the toy owl and accompanying picture book as a present for our little girl - we loved the Santa stocking hanging on our door, too. I couldn't thank the staff enough and we will definitely return.
