Old, Nice Hotel”
I stayed here as a female solo traveler to climb Mt. Kaimondake, as my biggest hobby’s hiking. I arrived at the hotel very early because of an early flight and the train time. When I spoke to the front at first, they seemed not to happy with my early arrival so I only asked to keep my luggage. But when I returned after a few hours, they apologised for the previous response, and told they shifted my room to a better one. They also offered kind services during my stay, such a great hospitality. The building itself is quite old, yet clean and well maintained. The bath facility is nice. The lobby and breakfast room are facing the sea, very nice. The location is a bit far from the train station but there are some bus stops nearby, easily accessible to other tourist sites. Overall I had a great time!

Good sea view from room and minimum service”
Hotel location is right next to sea and my room has beautiful sea view. Hotel is older but still offers a relaxing stay. What I found lacking is customer service. I was not given any hotel information and couldn't find any inside the room. This could be due to language barrier so not a big deal. I got to breakfast around 8:15 (closing time 9:00) and found only leftovers with no replenishment.

Old fashioned but OK”
The hotel is old, facilities also old but still OK enough for the location standard. Room is spacious and great if you are looking for hotel with sea view in the area. Bathing area is OK, this hotel also offer offer hot sand bathing which is Ibusuki unique experience.

A hotel with stunning view on sea side”
The town is famous for sand onsen and of course Ibusuki Kaijyo provides onsen(hot spring) and sand onsen(sand onsen limited time between from 16:00-20:00). They provided a Japnaese style room on sea side and the view was exceptional. It was a late arrival short stay, but it was absoutely worth the money. The facility is a bit old, but it is a great place to relax and enjoy hot spring.

great service from professional staff”
i cant ask for more with the price i paid for. all staff are welcoming, thoughtful, helpful and approachable. the staff's level of English is not high but good enough for communication. Like most Japanese, they tried their very best to make my stay feel like home. The manager passed me a coupon for visiting the flower garden and saved me 90 yen. He gave me and my husband two little gifts after knowing that this is our anniversary trip. i was touched and overjoyed. although the building and facilities are sort of aged but they are well maintained and clean. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wishes to visit Ibusuki.

Mixed feelings at a used-to-be luxury hotel”
Pros: 1. As some suggest, here used to be a 3-star or 4-star hotel. Thus, the hotel is enormous at its size, the guestrooms and the onsen. There are also additional facilities like shop, bar, and most importantly its own sand bath so you don't need to use the public one nearby. 2. The sea view from guestroom is ultimate. You can view the sunrise from horizontal line directly from the room. Cons: 1. The hotel obviously has some age. Majority of public area still needs some major updates. Particularly, the old-style round dull lamps of corridors need to be replaced with modern ones. 2. I have a room thats almost at the end of corridor, and its adjacent to the second elevator. I once travel with that and it seems I entered a closed area with completely no lights. The hotel should make signs if there's a closed area inside. 3. Location is very remote. 30-minute walk required from station. The hotel should provide shuttle (I checked the website and cannot find any info about that)

It's a little bit far away from the JR station, but you can walk for 5 mins to the bus station, and it's close to the famous sand hotspring shop.Actually, they also provide sand hotspring, and the price is close to the famous sand hostpring shop

So far so good!”
My first impression was Yes, I agreed with the previous Traveler's comments, it is very Old, however, me and my parents are like it, cause enjoying the sea breeze in the room was priceless! Their staff are all very nice! ... But I feel the communications on email just not satisfy! Because before the check-in date about 2 months ago I had sent an email to the hotel asking about the Tamatebako (指宿のたまて箱), but no reply! And I sent an email once again, I don't know why it just NO reply at all!! And I asked the front-desk why after we checked-in, the reply was mumbo-jumbo!! I felt really not happy with that! After all, I feel I would recommend to the friends who enjoy suburb life, simple, nature.

Japanese Style Hotel”
The hotel rooms are relatively big and has amazing sunset view. Staffs are nice and helpful. I would recommend the sand bath at Saraku which is about 3 min walk from the hotel. The only downside of this hotel is that it is an old hotel and there is no western style room option. Only Japanese dadami rooms are available. My room had fishy smell to it which I wasnt sure where it came from.

Very old hotel, friendly staff”
The hotel is very old, the room we slept on was fine but the toilet is really old. However, the room was clean and tidy and the staff were friendly to help. The hotel provides sand bath from 16:00-20:00 at 1080yen. There is also a hot spring room. It takes a 20-min walk from the JR station. Everything was fine except it was a bit too old.

Great value and nice sea view room”
The room had a nice view was clean and tidy. The balcony was great for sitting and relaxing watching the night stars. The only drawback is that there is no kettle in the room only thermos jugs for hot water. I’d prefer a kettle. But overall good.
