interesting and quirky, great location, holiday home for short or longer stay visitors.”

location is exceptional. very well appointed property, comfortable beds (good quality mattresses, duvets, pillows etc) and dog friendly. interesting quirky layout. high quality environmentally friendly items eg toilet paper, washing up liquid, toiletries.
due to the type and date of property, solid stone walls, with single glazed wooden windows, means the modern electric heating panels have to work harder to get and keep the property warm. this is mitigated by hot water bottles and lots of furniture throws. it took us a couple of days to get the hang of when and how much to use the heating panels. also mitigated by a modern efficient electric shower. kitchen is a little on the small side for a full complement of six guests - fine for four guests. all perfectly fine for a holiday home where you are out and about a lot.

Great winter break accommodation”

Cottage is in a superb location right next to the Highland Wildlife Park which we loved and a convenient 15 mins to Aviemore and the Cairngorm Road. It has character and is spacious and comfortable. It kept very cosy even in the bad weather once it had warmed up.
The master bedroom is a little small compared to the very spacious twin rooms.

Very good”

Very spacious and very well equipped kitchen. Very homely feel to the property and the porch area was particularly useful to hang up our wet gear ( of which we had a lot !!!! ). Very grateful for the laminated walking maps that we could take out with us. All told we had a lovely time here and would be very happy to come again. Maybe in the spring or summer months!

Very quaint cottage, lots of room for the three of us, well equipped kitchen, comfy beds, fantastic location for visiting local areas.
Could not get wifi connection. Noticeable traffic noise from A9 first thing in a morning.

The cottage was clean, spacious and comfortable. The layout of it is quite unusual but very good for a family visit. Also the beds and bedding were a very comfortable and of decent quality. The location is also very good as it's right beside the Highland wildlife park and a short drive from water sports, quad biking and many other pursuits.

Nice and comfortable cottage ideally placed to hike in the Cairngorms.”

The Islay Cottage was very comfortable and particularly well placed for our activities of hiking in the Cairngorms, and visiting sites around. The area is very calm with nice views, and easily accessible by car. The presence of a few other cottages on the site also allows meeting other people in holiday in the area. We enjoyed our stay very much. Even though we didn't meet in person, Cathy and Joe were always available and friendly to answer all our questions very quickly. This was very much appreciated.
The only thing that annoyed us a bit is that the fridge is really very small for a 6-people self catering house. When we do this kind of holiday, we are used to shop only once in a while, and have food and drinks for a few days at least. This was not possible, so we had to go shopping almost daily, and would not be able to cool drinks or our water supplies for the hikes (fortunately the tap water was rather fresh so this was not a critical issue). I believe it would be a nice addition to have a secondary larger fridge, possibly in the living room. But that's a detail of course, and maybe not applicable to all types of stays.
