Great value for money, great location and great hostel!”
Pros : we generally had the best stay in this hostel compared to the rest of our trip. The staffs are friendly and helpful, and our tatami private room is spacious and comfortable for our 3 nights stay. We enjoyed the well equipped pantry as well. The location is great, only about 5-10mins from the main Takayama station. The hostel is clean as well. The staff recommended good food and we enjoyed it so much as it was our celebratory engagement meal there. We also got engaged in Takayama and this hostel will definitely be one of the most special memories for our japan trip this time. Cons : the light is a little too dim, if possible we hope the hostel can change the lamp to brighter day light instead if yellow light. Just a suggestion. 😉

The staff is super friendly, the dining room area is super clean and have all the stuff that you need if you want to cook your food. The place is clean and the location is right in the center of the city, and it's 7 minutes walk from the station. And all the main attractions are walking distance. Highly recommended!!

+ Convenient location + Short walk from train station + Good for those with JR Passes + Friendly, knowledgeable staff + Fairly clean facilities + Fabulous tour options etc. [I took the guided Shirakawa-go tour and loved it! Yamamoto-san was an awesome tour guide!] - Lack of ventilation/AC in dorm meant windows had to be open all night - Open windows allowed in a lot of street noise (cars, people talking, traffic lights) and light - Upper bunk needs fully-enclosing curtains - Bunks could use a vacuum - Limited number of showers; only available on first floor I highly recommend J-Hoppers Takayama :) I had a great time there and found the staff to be incredibly helpful and lovely. If you have the opportunity to take the half day Shirakawa-go tour, do it! Yamamoto is so informative and funny 😊

It's located near Takayama Station. We arrived at Hotel in the midnight and the staff waited for us to do a check in. The room is spacious with traditional Japanese bed. We will be back to this hotel if we go to Takayama again.

Japanese private room was great”
It has been 2 years and 3 months since my 3d2n stay there. This is not my first J Hoppers stay. I stayed in one in Osaka and Fukuoka Hana. I like the Takayama best because of the traditional room on tatami and futon. The window served as my chiller for drinks haha. Staff was very nice and helpful. Many local food and attractions within walking distance. It is near the Takayama station too. I will be back!

Best stay so far”
Very warm welcome from the staff when we arrived after a long bus journey. Walking distance to morning market and old town and bus terminal that go to shirakawago. Enjoyed alot in takayama and would come back again!

The location was near from Takayama station, and near from the old town, seven eleven, and so many shops near this hotel..It was clean, feels like home, but the heater wasn’t work perfectly. Would’ve been perfect if the heater worked as it should be.

I was booked a family room with private bathroom. The room is spacious enough for 4 adults and a kid.. The traditional room is clean and warmth. The staff is also friendly, helpful, and they have a discount for Shirakawa go tour. Thnak you J Hopers! We’ll get back again.
