Scruffy, shabby and not very clean”

Room 71 in the basement. Window overlooking filthy stairway. Bathroom with mildewed tiles and bits of glued formula. Telephone and surround was grubby. Won’t be going back.

Parking is essential when you stay in Bristol. The fee to park was good. Loved my breakfast. Room was comfortable and clean. The kettle and hairdryer worked. Every staff member I met was friendly and welcoming .

The staff were brilliant but the hotel was tired and neglected. It needs the hotel inspector to call”

The unfailingly friendly and polite staff were badly let down by the neglected and uncared for fabric and structure of the hotel. Everything looked ‘tired’ . The radiator was hanging off the wall in our room and the bathroom was extremely cramped and badly laid out. At breakfast the tables were covered in plastic and the chairs badly marked. It was very poor value for money and I would most certainly not return nor recommend it. It would clearly benefit from a visit from the Hotel Inspector. Health and Safety clearly isn’t a concern of the hotel management and the room we stayed in had a slipping floor suggesting subsidence. Parking was another point, there weren’t enough spaces for everyone and to say it was cramped would be an understatement. To add to this the hotel charged £7 per night for each car, while it was advertised at £6 on the internet. I was very disappointed as what we got was most definitely not what I saw on their website, not an experience to be repeated.

Good value for money”

This was a decent place to stay for the money paid. Free breakfast really made it superb. You could choose from a variety of hot foods including a traditional breakfast, and a croissant with cheese and ham. Really nice staff willing to help, and location was close to everything. The only (minor) complaint is that the room was a bit cold, but we were also there during the snow storm, so I’d imagine everywhere would’ve been chilly! Fab stay, would be back if in Bristol again.

Perfect retreat away from home”

I moved in here whilst builder work was carried out at my home. I loved the atmosphere and friendliness of staff, the cleaniness and quality of breakfast. Wifi and a warm room, can anyone ask for more? I can't wait for the buiders to come back to do more work! Next time I will book the hotel direct rather than through any agency.

Excellent staff let down by poor resources”

Not good value for money. Whole hotel needs complete refurbishment. Welcomong staff on reception and Beatrice serving breakfast is an absolute delight.

Good price and pleasant enough, but needs a bit of refurbishment ”

The hotel is very reasonably priced, considering that breakfast is included, and is located in a very pleasant neighbourhood with good restaurants nearby. The hotel itself, however, is quite old, and could do with some refurbishments on the inside to increase comfortability and soundproofness of the rooms (and there is no lift, so getting big luggages up the stairs can be a struggle). The staff were very helpful though.

A rathe musty smelling room up several flights of stairs with no lift ”

Good position. Friendly helpful staff. Run down slightly neglected hotel needing a refurbish. Narrow stairs and no lift making carrying suitcases up to the room difficult. Room had a musty smell and bathroom had areas of black grouting

Nice hotel, helpful staffs, worth to pay”

Room were clean and nice. Staff was very nice and helpful but don't expect to get morning call, they may forget or miss to do it. We are satisfied in their services and location that take around 20 minutes to each attractions by walking.

Value for money hotel at convenient location”

It is within 5-10 minutes walk away from the Park Street and 10-15 minutes walks away from the city centre. Clifton Village is right around the corner as well. Location wise, it is perfect. Even though the room is quite small, it is complete with bathtub, and full tray of coffee/tea making facilities which I particularly love.

Satisfactory”

I can say that it was quite satisfactory. I disliked the fact that there is no lift as well as I had to pay for the internet service. It is not a hotel situated in the centre of the city but still there is not so much distance if you want to take a bus.

In need of a little TLC”

Certainly nothing bad about the hotel, it's just a bit frayed at the edges. I could write an essay, but basically this place is comfortable for a few nights. No-one is going to be bowled over by the opulence, but only the extra fussy will have a problem with it. It's a decent B&B at a generally decent price.

Nice hotel”

The room was spacious and comfortable. The staff were very friendly - Rosie at the front desk was a delight when we checked in. The staff in the kitchen was also good. The first morning we didn't arrive at breakfast until the kitchen was closing (one minute to go), and they still served us with a smile. The breakfast portions were great and kept us going for several hours. The fruit in the hotel room was a nice treat and surprise. It made us smile and was certainly appreciated. The only thing was that on booking, we thought there would be wifi included but this was not the case. The information provided in the room was also different to how it actually worked. The information said that it was 4GBP for one day, but it ended up being for 40 hours of usage at 2Gb. Plenty enough for our stay. We only found out on the last day of our stay but wished we had found out earlier. Overall, an enjoyable stay for a few days.

Quiet, but the small room with no bathroom”

I stayed at this hotel in August, 2012, to see the place where I used to live. First, I had to go all the way up the stairs to the second floor, as there was no lift. The room was clean but small. There was no bathroom inside the room. It was a very hot day, but there was no AC to cool me down. I slept all the windows wide open. Thank God, it was a quiet area! The breakfast was average. You get full English breakfast. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They asked me if there was anything they could do every time I was near the reception. In conclusion, I say, "this is what you get for 30+ pounds", especially in an expensive city like Bristol and a good area like Clifton. Don't expect too much.

Small & old room - not worth to stay there”

Room was small : single bed in a 8 m2 room. Everything looks old : bed sheets and cover definitly need to be changed. It is more a guesthouse than a hotel. Moreover, I did not understood when I made the booking that it was a shared bathroom. However bathroom was clean and I think I was the only one to use it. I would not recommend this hotel even knowing that it is a 2 stars.
