Nice hotel in Matsushima”

You need to take a taxi to the hotel, it is not exactly near or walking distance. It cost about 710 jpy or so. The hotel is very nice. Room is spacious. Very nice view. The service is good. Slept on the futon. Enjoyed the private bath onsen. They had the japanese breakfast and is taste delicious. Had a nice walk near the hotel and is near the red bridge and about 15 minutes walk to Zuiganji Temple which is a must to visit. Totally enjoyed my stay and highly recommend this hotel

Perfect first-time ryokan experience!”

There's not much to say other than that the wonderful staff made our weekend absolutely magical!!! Our only complaint was that the shower in our room wouldn't find a suitable temperature, we could only get it to be too hot or too cold, but this isn't even a problem if you opt to shower and bathe in the onsen, which we did. A couple forewarnings, dinner isn't available after 7:30 or so, but we called ahead to let them know we'd check in late and they were very accommodating and understanding. Also, if you're as tall as me, (193 cm), you might find the yukata a little short and the slippers a little small, but this is a characteristic of Japan as a whole, not the hotel. Also, mind your noggin. Doorways in Japan are only about 180 cm high. All this being said, the onsen was incredibly relaxing, the room had a gorgeous view, the food was impeccable... I'm already thinking ahead to coming back!

Nice experience ”

It was one of my nicest experience in Japan to have stayed here. Our room had a spectacular view, it was romantic to watch sunset. The staff here were all very polite and helpful. We had a very nice dinner here. Each dishes were beautifully displayed, and they were delicious as well. Unfortunately the family sitting at the next table were very noisy. It would be much better if families with younger kids could be arranged to the corners of the dinning place.

We could smell ours was a smoking room even though we had asked for a non-smoking one. When we pointed that out staff were terribly accommodating and offered us an alternative one. However, the original room was newer and higher up (better views of the bay) so we decided to stay. They proceded to thoroughly air it while were at dinner. Very good service.

Exceeded expectations”

Great location with a completely private, unobstructed view of the ocean. The small number of rooms made the stay and onsen much more relaxing and intimate. The kaiseki dinner was superb, greatly exceeding what we expected. The breakfast was very good. Would definitely stay here again!
