Excellent”

The log house was charming, activities such as archery, the maze, bowling and the swimming pool were fun and food at the buffet was nice. The outdoor onsen was great and felt newer than the rest of the hotel, which is in need of some refurbishment in some areas. The log house is quite far from the rest of the hotel, but they provide a convenient shuttle service. Town is only about a 15 minute walk away, but there are frequent shuttles to the town as well, making the location ideal. I really enjoyed my time in the log house, but I would not recommend it to people with a fear of bugs or a dust allergy. It is out in the woods, so bugs finding their way inside is only natural. The sheets, bathroom and kitchen were all very clean, but layers of dust have gathered on the massive logs that the house is made out of. I was fine after taking an allergy pill, but I definitely needed it, so that is something to bear in mind. Unlike what was written on Agoda at the time of booking, there is no wifi at the log houses. Another thing to bear in mind is that facilities like the swimming pool are not included in the price. You can get a passport that lest you make use of most of these. The jacuzzi in the log house was nice. Overall, I really enjoyed my time here and would recommend this place in particular for families and groups of friends.

Old hotel”

Very old hotel. Access to every room area is quite far and every time you must go through main lobby. The hot springs are quite dirty of hairs and floating white dirt of something… Dinner buffet and breakfast were so so. You must pay for every activitiy game if you have no free pass ticket.

Not for foreigners with little Japanese of none”

No English! I can speak some Japanese, but they speak fast and it's really not easy. Kusatsu itself is very disappointing. It looks pretty of course, but it's hard to get to, pretty much no English, shops and restaurants close early. Onsens aren't open at points during the day or night. We stayed in the log cabin where it didn't look that clean, weird jumping bugs, cob webs and bear warning signs.

excellent hotel for hot spring and skiing ”

The location is a bit far but with shuttle bus service provided to the bus terminal and the main onsen site, its very convenient. The hot spring inside the hotel was amazing, the buffet at the big diner was AMAZING. The variety of food gave us the opportunity to try everything in small portions, the long-legged crabs, sakura shrimps, kobe beef and omg the in-season strawberries! Make sure you have a empty stomach ready for this. The service was also fabulous. I'd definitely come back again!

The hotel shuttle bus is very on time with the informative driver. The breakfast is O.K. We love the on-sen. We used it st the late night time with nobody only I and my sister. Very old and Tired, must have been nice in the 80's!”

Horribly dated hotel. Tower room is just nasty. Dirty and strained carpets, marked walls, broken door frames, paper thin walls, furniture falling apart. On the good side there are lots of things to do as it is a huge property but the rooms and hallways are so disgusting we wouldn't return. Men's onsen was ok. Wester buffet and breakfast was ok. Dinner is not worth $40. Very limited english at this hotel. Most signs are in Japanese and mandarine but maybe 1 out of 10 signs has english on it. They bothered to add papers and stickers with mandarin translations but not english.

Dirty-Smokey-in need of renovation and new management”

Booked log cabin, it is a really nice building, but 40 years old and hasn't been dusted since opening!!! Eyes watery, all family sneezing and worst of all they allow smoking!!! I said in notes NO smoking room, and if I smell smoke I will complain, when we arrived first thing we found on table was ashtray!!! They never cared about our request. Wall paper cracking. Pool closed because map sent to me by email was wrong, also another Hotel Village in the middle of a forest, about 45 minutes away, we went there first and it was dangerous, narrow side mountain road, slippery, and no hotel there at all. For the price not worth staying. Highly recommend going to hotel that cares and listens to customer requests. Petty, because if rooms clean we would return.
