Lovely Japanese Style Guest House with Perfect location ”
It’s a very old Japanese style Home and converted into Guesthouse, the staff is very friendly, the room is spacious, they have car parking space in the front of the Guesthouse, breakfast is in Japanese style. Yummy! And there is a lot of traditional Japanese art pieces, ink calligraphy, antiques inside the Guesthouse, very interesting.

Great location and friendly staff ”
The location is great, easily found as it’s just less than 1m walk to Yabatake. You will need to take off your shoes before proceed to the counter for check in. There are slippers prepared by the host for indoor and outdoor use. You can stroll around kusatsu-onsen area with Japanese Yukata with the Japanese slippers provided. The staffs are very friendly. They will give you a call when your meals are ready (if you take the room + meals package) and the breakfast and dinner will start on time. It’s a pleasant stay there.

The hot spring is too small”
The hot spring is too small, and the place you bath is very cold! In addition, I have waited for a while (around 3 mins and it is very cold!) for hot water for bathing in the morning! There is no outside hot spring (you won't use it, it is extremely small and unclear)

Exceptional”
The Nisshinka locates in very centre of the Kusatsu town. Right in the middle of the three famous onsen. The bath provided by the hotel is very comfortable and easily accessible. I'm really impressed that the hotel has disable access -- a chair lifter to each floor of the hotel. This will make visiting much easier for aged people who has trouble getting up and down stairs. The room is very very clean, and owner is very helpful. Very easy to communicate in English. Thank you so much for your host!

It was an amazing experience. ”
Kusatsu Onsen is an amazing town with the yubatake in the center of town. Our experience in the Ryokan was just amazing. The staffs were really nice. Even though we didn't speak any Japanese, the staffs tired to communicate with us regarding the type of food and if we need second helping. The hostess came to meet us during dinner and she was really polite and traditional. The service and facilities in Ryokan are really great.

Traditional onsen hotel”
Kusatsu is a famous traditional onsen (hot spring) town in Japan, so the hotel prices here are more steep. having stayed at Hakone before, our family decided to try Kusatsu during this trip to Japan. the hotels in Kusatsu are clustered around the Kusatsu hot springs where mineral rich waters flowed out of the ground, the steam from the hot springs can be clearly seen from our hotel. you can take a walk around the special structure built to showcase the hot springs for a nice photo opp.

Good place to stay for groups”
Stayed at the ryokan in the beginning of December with a group of 10 friends. We had booked two big rooms and split up in two, with 5 people in each room. The hotel had a nice hot spring bath (unfortunately the outdoor rotenburo bath is only available for men), and the location was perfect with the center of Kusatsu right down the street.

A nice ryokan very near to Yubatake”
The ryokan is just less than 10 mins walk from Kusatsu bus station. As it is just located at round the corner of Yubatake, it makes navigation to different place of interest and restaurants very easy. The ryokan and the room is very clean. I enjoyed the Japanese breakfast very much.

Good location”
This ryokan is just in front of the yubate, so it’s definitely good location compared to some other hotels. I pushed my luggage up two steep slopes to get to the bus station, but it took me only ten minutes. Other than meal times, I did not really see any staff around as only 4 rooms were occupied during my stay due to the low season, I had to ring a bell for someone to appear during check in. At such a low rate, I guess it’s still acceptable. Plus point was I had the public bath to myself both times I went to bathe.

A nasty welcome from the owner”
When we arrived at this magical town we were very high spirited. Quickly locating this ryokan at the heart of town we were very upset when the owner's son greeted us at the entrance with very rude comments. We are not Japanese so we thought we could just took off our shoes and go to the checkin counter in our socks. He lectured us saying our socks are not clean and we are not allowed to walk anywhere in his hotel barefooted or in shoes or in socks except in their hotel slippers. He don't allow us to drag our luggages inside until all the wheels are cleaned. He really is an OCD case. Very unpleasant welcome. The onsen is dark and the bath area very cold. The meals provided are not value for money.
