Room is beautiful, big and clean. It was our first experience staying in a ryokan. It was a very good experience. Ryokan has public onsen and private onsen for couples who want to bathe together.

Relax and enjoy the atmosphere”
From the time we entered and met the owner, we started to relax. The ryokan (inn) is in a quiet, green area. It feels out of the way, but is only a short walk to the busy tourist area. Also, the owner always offers to drive you. She is so kind and even offered to dry my shoes near the heater when they got wet in the rain. The hot spring is excellent with all natural water. It makes your skin feel so smooth. The area is quiet, so you will sleep well. Highly recommended. Enjoy!

Exceptional”
Very nice experience. The Japanese Onwer can speak fluently Chinese, which helps a lot during our stay. He also offered us free transport service, bringing us to restaurant, ski place and to bus station everyday. The onsen is also great! Not crowded and super clean! Highly recommended!

Ryokufutei Ryokan review”
A no frills way to experience a traditional Japanese ryokan experience with tatami floor, futons, yukata and an open air onsen. Extremely helpful staff(special thanks to Ricky, who has been extremely helpful). Transport to and from the Kusatsu Onsen bus terminal and Yubatake is complimentary and be arranged with just a simple phone call. Meals are not included but this is understandable for the price point. Highly recommended for those looking for an affordable option while staying at Kusatsu Onsen.

Room was not cleaned during our stay of 3 nights. The male staff speaks multiple languages like English, Mandarin and Cantonese. He’s very helpful in explaining the attractions in Kusatsu.

A traditional hotel with foreign staff.”
- One staff can speak Mandarin and Cantonese, so visitors from Taiwan or Hong Kong can communicate easily. - You can tell the hotel has some ages, but it is still clean and neat. - The location is a bit distant from the center of the village. You can contact the staff from Instagram to ask for a ride. However, they seem not very responsive and might be unpunctual...haha - The wall is thin, and you can hear the voice of the next rooms. Be sure to bring earplugs or anything to make your sleep quality better.

It’s a really nice inn, and their private onsen is very nice, but I had a bit of a Situation - I lost my room key at the onsen, and they didn’t have a spare. It made for a stressful evening and morning, until one of the secondary staff figured out a way to open the window. If you stay here, be careful to not lose your key!

Different to reach by youself”
They have pick up service, please use as this is very far away from the main visitor area. I don’t know this service, so I went a hard journey to reach. The building and facilities are very old. I think they need some repair. The hot spring is good. Conclusion: this is good for those driving to visit but not good for use public transport.

Unresolved Concern ”
Location is near the center but situated on the top of a hill. Arrived past 7pm and I had to walk to the accommodation. And it was hell. Also, the staff does not speak English. It was very difficult to communicate. I use the onsen at night and there was no staff to assist. The water dispenser is malfunctioning and instructions in all appliances are in Japanese. Worst experience is I left my cardigan in the hotel. I instantly communicate with the hotel and Agoda to have it deliver in my accommodation in Osaka but I received no reply from the hotel up until now. It was a tiring and disappointing experience.

Pretty ryokan”
What we liked: the onsen, the ryokan looked very pretty, it is very comfortable and clean, the driver who could speak Japanese and a little bit of English What we disliked: the ryokan does not have the best location, the communication to pick up is very bad. The first day we arrived there, I sent 3 emails 4-5 hours the arrival to ask for picking us up from the bus stop. However, no reply if they picked us up or not. So I called them, they said they would come in 15 minutes. We ended up waiting there 40 minutes. You cannot walk from the bus stop to the hotel with your luggage as they're barely sidewalks. However, the driver who speak only a lil bit japanese was very nice and I'd still recommend this ryokan.

Ryokan sans histoire en retrait du village”
Tout est sobre dans ce Ryokan dès le check-in. La chambre était petite mais avec une petite enclave véranda séparée toujours agréable. Ma chambre était avec toilettes seules. Douches publiques et onsen on rez-de-chaussée. On pourrait souhaiter un petit effort sur l'éclairage de la chambre qui n'est vraiment pas glamour du tout, ça n'est pas vraiment l'idée qu'on se fait d'une ambiance feutrée japonaise.

静かな場所にある旅館”
湯畑から徒歩20分くらいの場所でした。周りに民家などはなく、素敵な自然の中で過ごすことが出来ました。 1番嬉しかったのは、送迎サービスです。何度も利用させて頂きました。 部屋も広く、露天風呂はほぼ貸切で入ることが出来ました。 また機会があれば、泊まりに行きます。

湯畑から少し離れていますが静かでゆっくりできました。またお湯が抜群に良かったので更にびっくり。箇所箇所にお心遣いの感じられる温かい宿でした。

Excellent”
友人と素泊まりで宿泊しました。 18時頃にチェックインして、お部屋に入った時には布団が敷かれていました。 湯畑からは徒歩15分程と少し遠いですが21時まではお願いすれば湯畑近くのバス停まで送迎していただけました。帰りはタクシーを呼んで、それでもワンメーター600円だったのでタクシー利用をオススメします。緑風亭と伝えたら説明無しでも到着できました。旅館までの道は結構坂が急です。 近くに買い物をする場所がないので食料は予め調達した方がいいです。館内に簡単な自販機が１台と、共用のウォーターサーバーがありました。 お部屋には洗面所とトイレがあり、お風呂は共用の浴場がありました。ちょっとエアコンの効きが悪かったですが、夜は涼しいのでそこまで気にならなかったです。露天風呂もありとても気持ち良かったです。別料金で個人風呂もありました。 メッセージ付きのアメニティが置いてあったり、何より受付にいらっしゃった女性のスタッフさんがとても親切に対応してくれて凄く嬉しかったです。建物自体は少し趣がある感じでしたがホスピタリティは良かったです。
