Look out”

Breakfast, swimming pool, all round cleanliness

We arrived by moto in a rainstorm and were taken to a room. We had booked (and paid for) two rooms, I unpacked and changed my soaking clothes while my friend sat on a bench and waited for a room to put her belongings in. At last a man arrived and explained that I had been given a 'superior' room in error and that I would have to repack my belongings and we should walk through the rain with him to the 'standard' rooms, otherwise we could both have superior rooms at extra cost or we could share the superior room that I was already in. After this we were asked insistently whether we wanted lunch and were told that there was a three course meal to be had, but with no choices. In other words, we had to take exactly what was offered. We agreed and were then pestered about dinner, only to find that dinner was 'same menu', that is, exactly the same meal that we would have eaten earlier in the day, all over again. Of course we refused; interestingly a proper typewritten menu appeared later in the day and we were able to choose some different dishes although eventually they bore very very little resemblance to what we had ordered. A form of recompense was made to us by waiving the bicycle charge of 100.000VND per bicycle per day, but what are they doing charging such an amount for bicycles in the first place? La Ferme du Colvert even charges you TO LOOK AFTER YOUR VALUABLES, if you can believe that. Was anything good? The service staff were delightful and the rooms and pool were kept very clean. Most of the food (especially the breakfast) was ok to good once we got past the recurrent mystery of what was going to arrive on the plate. However the portions for lunch and dinner were small and designed to fill you up on cheaper ingredients - the first lunch included both noodles and rice on the same plate which I thought a bit much, even in Asia. Overall the whole place stooped to a form of penny-pinching which didn't sit well with the prices it charges.

Neither my First Nor Last Time Coming Here”

So close to Hanoi, only 40km--yet a world away from the cacophony of humanity and grime that is the our beloved capital city. the grounds are a small village of rustic lodging from rooms in the center to peaceful lakeside house sized accomodations for groups or families with a pool, spa, animals peace, quiet. Clean air. The mayor of this eco resort is our host Jean Michelle: a warm and affiable French French Gentleman straight from Central Casting. You might feel like you fell into a film of Marcel Pagnol as you sit in the company of this jolly large mustachioed man sipping one of the excellent strong alcohols of fruits made on the premises. His lovely wife and daughter complete the warmth and caring we feel when staying here. The highlight is the food, much of it grown or raised on the property. Fruits, vegetables, ducks, homemade sausage...all prepared and proudly served by adorable local ladies who obviously care for our approval. Love it!

Excellent, apart from the food ”

This place was absolutely awesome and I truly loved the accommodation and the area. They let you use bicycles for free, you can swimming in their outdoor pool and even attend yoga lessons. The free breakfast was also really nice. The thing I really didn't like was their food policy and overpriced menu: they don't allow outside food or drinks in your room or in the whole property (you are meant to pay a ridiculously high service fee if you bring something from the outside and the threaten you with non-compliance fines), and then their menu was really overpriced. The second day we decided to stay and have lunch and got really disappointed about the amount of food and the fact that what they served was ok, but really not worth the money. If they changed their food prices and quality, maybe they would not need to threaten with service fees or non-compliance fines because nobody would want to eat food from the outside.

perfect get away destination just right off Hanoi”

This resort is a perfect destination for both young and old couple seeking to escape Hanoi for one or two days. It has one of the best customer services that I have experienced in the northern region. The rooms are cozy, food is excellent. The bike route is also relaxing as you get to ride around town and enjoy the rice field landscape

GREAT RESORT NEAR HANOI TO ENJOY NATURE IN A TRADITIONAL ENVIROMENT”

Excellent natural food cooked by Muon minority. The room is a traditional house. The space is surrounded by ponds and vegetation. Near by many places to visit. If you are an "urbanita", stay. away: there are insects, the houses are traditional so you can listen birds early in the morning and not all will be perfect for you. For the rest, nature lovers, is an ideal place to be near Hanoi.

Nice resort but far from perfect”

I have visited this place a few times over the last 4 years and nothing much seems to change. The location and facilities are lovely, especially the boat house by the lake which most people don't seem to find. However, for the price the rooms are nothing special, the food is frustratingly hit and miss and the staff are sometimes attentive and sometimes invisible.

Lovely place, beautiful location”

many trees, very quiet, nice area

i chose this place becaus ea friend had recommended it and i was not disappointed. but i was initially surprised because the agoda picture of 'standard' room did not match the reality! a 'standard' room is a simple matresson the floor, areasseparated by curtains and wooden outside walls, with no glass. shower and toilet downstairs. this was fine, and quite comfortable, especially as we were only ones there, but quite unexpected this is a great location, so close to hanoi. we cycled around the area one morning and it was fantastic. massage was goos, food was only "okay" - rather disappointing. we enjoyed the pool, though water cold.

Wonderful Eco Resort to get away from the city! ”

As foreigners with limited use of Vietnamese language, we were quite nervous about travelling to the countryside but our worries were for nothing. The owner family and management staffs all speak English/French and such nice people :) One of the best parts of this resort is the lovely and helfpul staffs for sure. The food was excellent too! All from their garden/farm. From starter to dessert, everything is fresh and carefully cooked. Another thing we appreciated about this resort is that we could take our 2 dogs. I loved how the housekeeping arranged a small basket bed for them at night time. It was such a sweet touch :) A perfect mini vacation to get away from the City!

The situation in relation to Hanoi is fantastic: it's far enough to be transported to the peace and tranquility of the countryside, but near enough to be convenient. It takes an hour on a motorbike - amazing. The staff are all lovely.

Good idea about kind of natural resort but very expensive meals and not clear at all about room”

We have booked room for couple 35m2, high level with A/C but the receptionist girl lead us to a 25m2 room. Not clear at all about room type. The dinner very expensive 500k/chicken or duck. But good cooking. However the lunch is expensive but not for money value. Just like « com bui » outside. The breakfast is OK. Otherwise I didn’t like the receptionist attitude, she said because of rain and we booked in the sane early day that she couldn’t ask us to cancel booking. Wth here?? Service or I beg them to go there. !!!!! Thought maybe the bosses were in France then the employees did what they wanted. Btw. Not for value 1100k room+2200k meals at least/1 night.

Pricy comparing to the service ”

- It’s way too expensive comparing to the service we received. Room rate was $50/night without an air-con. Room is small and quite dirty. The towel is in brown color 😥 - there’s always additional charge for every single service even the shuttle electrical car (which is normally free in all other resorts). - food are twice expensive comparing to nearby restaurants. You should drive to nearby restaurant with better food and price (about 5 mine drive only, you can even walk) - there’s nothing much to do after 9pm. The cafe in resort closes at about 9.30 also. - staffs are quite nice - I would recommend for foreigner who wanna experience the old Vietnam without young children (under 6)

They didn't know how to do services”

Good idea, fine location

I had a bad experience at this hotel. I paid for a superior room and when I reached the Resort, I found out that there seems no differences between booking a superior room in advance and going straight there to book. Moreover, the room expense including only the room & a fixed breakfast (not a buffet one), even parking required a separated expense. Swimming pool was dirty and available within 1 hour per day. And the worst was the attitude of the receptionist. I paid money for fishing, asking what if I caught a fish, and she said if I did, I could keep it. However, when I really did, they asked me for the money of the fish and denied her saying so. Furthermore, there is no privacy in the room since I heard everything the others talk in the next room.
