A wonderful place to stay”
Our stay at La Pernela was amazing! The staff were all wonderful and so helpful with whatever we needed or asked about. The location of the hotel means that it is very quiet and relaxing. I would recommend hiring a motorbike or scooter to explore the island as it works out cheaper and much easier than organising taxis or cars. Our room was clean and a good size, with daily housekeeping. There was also sausage dogs that belong to the owner at the hotel which made for great company while relaxing and enjoying a meal. So cute!! I'll definitely stay here again the next time I visit Bohol.

Very relaxing and peaceful”
The hotel is located quite close to Alona beach, so enjoying some Panglao nightlife is accomplished easily enough, but La Pernela is also far enough away that there is peace and quiet when you come back to rest. The food is amazing and Mirabell, the owner, frequently made specialty dishes that were not on the menu because I had expressed a particular desire. She was incredibly accommodating and went to every length to make sure that our stay was enjoyable. The rooms were clean and stylish, and the grounds were really well groomed. The property also extends right to the ocean, and is within a 5 minute walk from 2 separate beaches - I would highly recommend staying here to anyone!

Awesome Hotel but far from everything!”
la pernela is a great place to stay if you want romance, quiet, and privacy. we basically had the whole place to ourselves for 2 days! however, it is pretty far from the beach (about 15 minute drive) and it is also about 15 minutes away from the city by car. you really need to rent a motorcycle if you want to do anything besides hang around the hotel.

Beautiful resort, ideal for couples.”
our room was spacious with large closets. bathroom's also very chic albeit the water pressure was weak. maám maryvelle, the owner, says they will remedy this. not quite a 'suite' compared to 5-star hotels in big cities which has tubs/carpets etc. but with bohol's standards, the room was really nice. i was satisfied overall. you can check out the photos in this site. food was very good! we would always go back to the hotel for dinner even if we are in the town area. it was reasonably priced also, i think food in other hotels would be more expensive. if you want to go to the town area frequently, do not stay here. transportation would really be costly if you leave the hotel for more than once a day. the location of this hotel was always disclosed in this site and other reviews so i see no point in complaining about the distance. the dirt road leading to the hotel wasn't really muddy as was mentioned in the previous review. mud covered perhaps 2 meters or less of the road. it wasn't really that horrendous. after a long day of bohol tour, it was really nice going home to this hotel. so serene and relaxing. you cannot get that from hotels in alona beach or town area. the small beach nearby was also marvelous! very private and beautiful. book this hotel when you want some relaxation and time alone with your husband/wife.

A great location to unwind”
We enjoyed very much our stay in this hotel. The nice garden and beautiful ocean view with a private diving ground are certainly the big plus. it is a bit away from the busy tourist areas in Bohol, but then it gives you a peaceful relaxing time. The hotel is a few minutes drive to the Bee farm where you can buy many intersting stuff and nice lunch. The Hotel owner and staff are friendly and helpful, very attentive to all your needs. We will definitely come back and recommend the hotel to our friends

This resort is fantastic”
I highly recommend La Pernala Resort. It is a beautiful, clean and tidy resort in a truly lovely peaceful setting. It is the perfect get away to relax and unwind. Maryvelle looked after us magnificently - answering all our questions and cooking us delicious food. I was sad to leave.

Stylish rooms”
Rooms are nicely designed. Very clean. Beautiful garden and a very nice pool. Across the road there's a green area also belonging to the hotel, which is a nice place to hang out with a book with a nice view over the cliffs and the sea. There's a tiny beach 5 min walk away. Another beach about 10 min walk is very picturesque with a lot of fishing boats. The far end is the best for sunbathing, though we are not talking bounty beaches, but beaches with a very local touch. The hotel is in an isolated area, but it is not a problem to get transportation either arranged by the owner or if you walk to the mainroad you can easily get a moto. The owner can inform about prices etc. If you are travelling alone and want to go on a tour the owner will try to hook you up with agroup, to make it cheaper for you. For most privacy you should go for the rooms at the front and away from the restaurent.

Three night stay”
We booked this place without much research as the original place we booked had given our room away without informing us. Therefore we were pretty happy to get any place considering it was the day before Chinese New Year and one of the busiest times for people travelling. The place is wonderfully maintained, clean and natural. The rooms are comfortable, and clean and most certainly has a hotel feel to it. The service is good there and the owner is a nice, warm, friendly person who is interesting and helpful. We ate there everyday, be it breakfast, lunch or dinner. The food was good, if a little small, but it tasted nice. The breakfast was a little too small for my liking, and forced me to have lunch there most days, but maybe that's the idea :) The only complaint i would have is the distance from Alona beach, the main night life area, and the need to get a taxi there. The location is great for those looking to read and relax, away from the night life, however the charge of 300 for the taxi was a little expensive i thought. We got a trike home one evening and it was 200 and i believe more experienced travelers could get it cheaper again. The distance isn't that far. To put it in perspective, we got a trike to Loboc 24km and it was 600!! But other than that, great!

Nice hotel”
I only stayed one night as this is definitely more a hotel for couples. I was by myself and it Is totally cut off from the outside world. This is just perfect if that is what you want. The room was really lovely and the staff couldn't do enough for me , so if you want a great romantic time with your partner I would not hesitate in recommending . While I was here I walked to the bee rosort (45 min walk , very busy road and dark), for an amazing dinner and to watch and hear the noisiest rudest people I have ever seen being loaded on and off big white tour busses ... I could not be sure but they may have been Chinese !!. Overall a nice one night stay at this hotel. But one thing there really are no sea views as the rooms are all on the ground floor.and don't pay more than 200 pesos by tricycle to get here from the ferry.

"Beachfront" is misleading”
Reason we chose this resort because we thought it was "beachfront". It really is not, the front of the hotel is a cliff and beach is 5 minute walk from the resort. There is no beach in front of the resort! Location is too isolated, too far from town and breakfast was a disappointment. For all senior citizens, this resort does not honor SC discount, however, upon checkout I insisted on it and gave it to us anyway for food that we ordered.

tranquility spot”
this is my second time here. this time, i brought along my parents who are in their 80's and a visiting elder sister from california. i loved the quiet and the serenity of the place. and if you want the action of alona beach or the scenery of the countryside, or the novelty of the bee farm, you can just hire a car/driver for the day and do all this. then it's like coming home to rest afer a hectic tour. when you wake up, you can go and sit by the beachfront and just take in the beauty of the sea.

What a lovely place!”
We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful place! Maribel and her team are great hosts, that do everything to make your stay great. They organize tours, make tasty food and are always there for your questions. Alona is just a few minutes away. Thank you very much!

Thank you very much too, dear guests, for having appreciated our place. It 's a long way from Germany, still, wishing you could spend your holidays again here or in some island nearby.
Nice Resort, Great Food for chill-out”
If you are looking for hideaway, that is the place for you. If you would be in the centre of activities like Alona Beach than you should consider about other places. The rooms are nice, also the staff, the food is also great, especially smashed vanilla soup (or something similar). They should have coral reef as well, but beach is nothing special. Massage is much better than at Alona Beach also.

Peace and quiet”
Good stay, it's not in the city, it's on a country road. They only caution would be to plan a lot of extra time for any airport transfers.

Warm and hospitable owner.”
Relaxing, quiet but the beach was not swimmable at the time we checked in. I was expecting for a clear water beach but it was not.Anyway from what I was told it had been raining prior to our arrival. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our stay.

it's a good place for travelers who want to relax and take a rest under the silent atmosphere without any interupting.

Quaint place merely adequate”
first of all, the room type was not a suite. it was an ordinary double room. i think that error typifies this establishment. it tends to exaggerate. the location is rather remote and can only be reached by traversing tiny, muddy roads. this can be a plus for those who really seek isolation...not so great if you want to see places. its isolated location made it difficult for me and my family to buy supplies such as water and soda, etc. we had to rent the hotel transportation which was quite costly. food was merely adequate and certainly not worth the money they were charging. water pressure in the bathroom was weak.

Little resort off the beaten path”
Overall, was a good stay. However, the wifi connection was poor and frustrated is at times as we couldn't do research, etc. also, the cleaners did not clean our rooms 2 out of 5 days and on the 4th day, we had to call them to tidy the room and top up toilet rolls, etc. the location was away from Alona beach and peaceful. I would recommend hiring motorbike to move around easily.

The place is like our second home.”
The place is peaceful and really has an ambience of a home! Best getaway from busy place of Manila. Food was great! Simple but superb and delicious!

Hi Florence! Such nice, cool guests like you make the best come out of us. Happy that you have enjoyed our food and ambiance.
Acceptable”
This hotel has outdated facilities and really minimalist, not at all price wise. It is mentioned 'beachfront' this is not true. Far from all services. At much lower prices there is much better elsewhere

Thanks for your one-night stay. Again, sorry that we had given you a room on the garden side. For high season, you should book at least a month before so you would get the room facing the sea. By the way, your brief stay must have kept you from noticing our services (info, massage, guests' restaurant) and the amenities of room ref, water heater, shower heater, safety-box, aircon, DVD player, etc. of our beautiful minimalist-styled room priced only at 74 dollars with breakfast included. If you expect more than that, a three-star hotel nearby could have satisfied your desires at a minimal rate of a hundred dollars. We could have helped you look instead of your landing in a much "worst" place after.
