Lovely little place, but need a motorbike”

Romantic location, very affordable, Marina (owner's wife) is lovely

I really enjoyed my time at Laguna and stayed for a week. The lagoon is great for swimming and it's really conveniant for the port. It has to be said though that I spend a great deal of time driving my motorbike to and from Mamajao, which is half an hour away. I would certainly come back, especially with a partner, but think twice about going here if you're just on your own as it's harder to meet people.

Spartan luxury”

Location within a lagoon setting, friendliness of the staff, rustic accommodations

The staff was very attentive to our needs, particularly the owners who welcomed us like old friends. This is a place recommended for those who just want to experience peace and quiet in an island that is already very isolated and tranquil. The view from the hotel room points to the large lagoon that has facilities for paddle boats and kayaks (rarely busy) and a floating restaurant nearby (pricey and poor service). Nearby is also a mangrove nature park with boardwalk (highly recommended) and evening walks on the lagoon edge and on dark trails often offer encounters with wildlife (if that is your cup of tea). Typical tourists shy away from this hotel because it is far from the usual crowd of hotels facing the White Island, but this is an opportunity to be clear from tourist traps that these other hotels are. Nearby is another island teeming with marine life and excellent coral reef (much better than White Island), also nearby are village bars where one can mingle with the locals and watch fireflies while walking to and from the hotel. This hotel is highly recommended for those who value communion time with nature in a peaceful setting, to rub elbows with the locals and simply to admire the beautiful sunrise. I give it two thumbs up!

Pleasantly surprised”

Staff, Design, Affordability

Upon arrival we were pleased with the location, friendliness of staff and design of the building. This place is built almost entirely of bamboo and set up on a hillside above a lagoon and overlooking the sea. Location, location, location.... It is mostly of an open air design and is not like other typical hotels. No aircon, but shady and cool with a fan. For the price it cannot be beat, and even if somewhat primitive, it was an adventure. Directly across the lagoon there are 3 ziplines that begin up the mountainside and come down over the the lagoon about a 100-150 meters high for about a kilometer, for only 400php per person. It was quite fun. The combination of this stay, plus the zipline and cheap ferry tickets from the mainland made this one of the least expensive, fun, getaways we've ever had.

Good value but needs some improvements”

Lagoon, close to port, good bed

For such a good price it was okay, but we had a couple of issues, the house was shaking whenever anyone in the three rooms moved. No trash can or hanger for towel in toilets, one without lock.. We had an insect invasion in our room. On the other hand, we were pleased with the kayak rental, the view of the lagoon and the price.

Rustic”

Fantastic meal at a great price. Super friendly staff. Nice view.

The room is very back to basics. The mosquito net allowed no ventilation so it was too hot to use it but with it open and the fan on we were fine. The sitting area below the room was very attractive. The CR needs a remodel. The grounds are pretty with many flowers. Nice views. A quiet place exce

Warm and Cozy and Very Relaxing”

Great View, Great Food, Value for Money

The hotel was beautifully perched on a hillside. The view and the villas were charming. Although the rooms are not air conditioned I appreciated the quiet surroundings and beautiful view, and the look and feel of the hotel. The owner was very accommodating and the food was great too. It was value for money. I would recommend this to the more adventurous types. The location is not very accessible but overall I love the place.

A unique hideout in the calm lagoon”

location, price and uniqueness

the hotel was only 5 mins away from the port by motorcycle. it was like a treehouse with shared bathrooms. It was nice if you're not very picky. but things could have been better like eliminating the ants and other insects in the room. cleaning of the fan and other areas would be nice and a more comfortable toilet would be superb. i have good memories here so this place is special.

Simple, basic but quite nice”

Quiet location, close to ferry terminal, reasonable price

Very simple bamboo structure on a quiet lagoon. Clean, basic accommodations with helpful, pleasant staff. We stayed two nights and would be happy to return. Walk from the ferry terminal is about 3/4 km; we had very little baggage. Sleeping lofts are a climb up or down to the toilets/showers. Restaurants nearby.

Simple standard, lot of stairs, dirty pool”

Cheap, cheap. Cheap

We book this hotel to be sure to have a place to overnight on our trip to camiguin. We choose not to stay there because the facilities did not suit us, traveling with children. In my opinion, three a old couple runs the place, and they are not capable to ceep the place in shape to have overnighting guests. Dirty children's pool, simple toilet and shower facilities , lots of stairs. Dangerous place in cause of fire. I don't want to recommend this hotel to anyone.

The place was so quiet that we hesitated for sometime. But once settled in, we came to admire the place. It is ideal for those who want peace and quiet. Plus the food was delicious. We love their mushroom soup. And if you love walking, the place is just a walking distance from the seaport.

the owner interactions, unsual cottage design & away from the city

For the amount we pay for the accommodation, we didn't expect too much, we get the basic necessities such bed, water, food. Must say the bathroom requires attention. Unfortunately the pool didn't have water on it on the 3days we were there due to water pressure, apparently could take whole day to fill.

the room was very unique, peaceful and quiet location

The room was very unusual, quiet and beautiful. Although the condition of the toilet and bathroom was terrible and very dirty. At first we hoped for a good food, but then we got a spoiled dish and we ended up even paying for it! The hotel owner was very depressed and sitting on the restaurant was something we tried to avoid from, but we had no choice as its the only place to eat in the area. The pictures sell very well, too bad that its not the reality.
