A great place to lay in the sun the whole day, just to enjoy the sky and the seabreeze. Their beach aint that blue but love the serenity of the place. The north of the city is where you MUST catch the beautiful sunrise and sunset at the sanddunes. A great place I would return to. Nice cheap place but not that luxurious. If u want better resort and coast line, visit the south area. North area are where sand dunes and guesthouses mostly are.

Other than that, the real reason to go there is for the nice relaxing beach, slow pace and escape from city life with cheap alternatives. Spa, seafood are also a plus.

Phan Thiet is actually old fisherman's city with long history and tradition. So when you go to Muine or Phan Thiet you need to know what you get there. In Muine you get quiet nice beaches, surfing and night life, shopping and SPA. If you wish to eat really good food you go to Phan Thiet where you can also find some historical places, nice fisherman's village and many interesting sightseeing. There is also one famous factory they produce Nuoc mam which is famous fish sauce very popular in Vietnam.It is ok if you go here for 1-2 days only for relaxation you can stay up to 5 days but soon can get boring. Muine is so called kiting heaven in Vietnam!

Mostly for traveling you should stay in Muine and go to take a quick look in Phan Thiet for few hours and find some good restaurant with seafood. Other attractions are mostly located around Muine. There are 2 sands dunes red and white, I prefer white as its bigger and more clean. Many tourist offices across the main street selling tour to that place. Muine is very popular about kiting and here you can also find many schools for kiting. Mostly on main street ( Nguyen Dinh Chieu ) you can find many shops with souvenirs and restaurants. But those restaurants don't offer real local food. If you wish to eat local food you have to go little bit in old part of Muine where you can really eat tasty Vietnam food. If you are traveling along Vietnam for 2 weeks you should just stay in Muine for 1 or 2 days.

As I stayed at the resort over a busy period, and it was difficult to get a pool lounge. The hotel was relatively good value for the busy period.

very much recommended as standing at the back of jeep, feeling the gusty wind on your skin and absorbing the sights along the coast is just a marvel. the 20km or so stretch of coast makes you wonder if this is asia or europe that you are in. never knew Vietnam has sand dunes till now, great relaxation riding the ATV at white dunes (V expensive though, 600k dong for 20min!) and sandboarding and watching sunset at red dunes (50k dong). the fishing village is a majestic sight too. restaurants line the street in the city, with many shops selling mainly the same thing - souvenirs, beachwear, pearls, vietnamese fashion or supermarkets. main activity on beach is kite surfing. food (mainly seafood, local, russian n italian) is generally more expensive than saigon or hanoi but reasonable. it amuses me that there is a thriving russian community who apparently migrated and settled down due to the low cost of living and carefree lifestyle. it is defintely much under rated compared to its sister city Nha Trang.

Also the waters were not calm due to the high winds so not easy to float and relax in. Most restuarants serve EVERYTHING from Vietnamese to Western to Italian to French to Russian food, which I believe doesnt lend for any one food to particularly amazing. its ok if you want to kite surf, but not very ideal for relaxing or meeting many other travelers.

If you comes Phan Thiet, you may not stay at Phan Thiet, but you should stay at Mui Ne.

fun to people watch. mui ne was a short distance away but did not get there. next time... i hear the sand dunes are lovely in the morning especially on an ATV or dirtbike if you can find a dirtbike. seafood is super fresh... get So Loung or So Doung which is oysters or mussels with chopped up shellfish grilled with peanuts on top! out of this world! also, the Banh Mi from Tuan Map (a chain) near city center is the best. my girlfriend always goes there, and she is a native! says the best banh mi... i agree as i have been to some other Tuan Map in ho chi minh and this one is the best!

Also quite a few eateries alongside the main harbourfront where the squid boats are moored. These are very traditional vietnamese specialising in barbequeing seafood and very popular with the locals.

The population of Phan Thiet is expected to increase to about 400,000 by 2015. It's main economics sources are agriculture, aquaculture, services, and tourism. Phan Thiet is a coastal city which is famous for its tourism district Mui Ne and its seafood as well as sea products such as fish sauce. Phan Thiet is also known as the land of dragon fruits which are exported to China, Europe, Japan, and United States of America.

Give the young children and the red sand dunes some money and walk around the lotus pond.

The railway station is quite a distance away from the heart of the city and navigating to the railway station is quite a problem if you do not speak the local language. I had to rely on Vietnamese phrasebook apps on my iPhone to get directions for the railway station..

The price is the same with Ho Chi Minh city which is the biggest city in Vietnam.
