Great location, perfect for a short stay”

LSE Carr Saunders Hall was located quite well, equidistant to two different tube lines. The rooms were spacious and I found it very comfortable to sleep in. Taller travellers might struggle with the smaller single beds. Breakfast provided was decent and good for value. Drinking water was only available from the ground floor but you’d be alright with a bottle. The shared toilets and showers might not be for everyone but I really didn’t mind it. I didn’t bump into anyone when I took my showers so no awkwardness there. There are ample places to get food in the area and walking home at night felt safe.

Stayed here for 1 night yesterday. Considering the price, I was surprised that the room is very nice and clean, better than my expectations and especially comparing to bunk beds accommodation that offers a similar price. Overall, it's a very good experience staying here, and I will definitely stay here again.

Not great value”

Make sure you don't get a room next to the communal toilets, you won't get any sleep. This place is a Uni Dorm, with no facilities. Location and breakfast good, but that's it. It started with an absurd automated message that looked like a confirmed booking had been cancelled, followed by a catalogue of events that thought paying guests should be treated like students. Real value price should be about 25% less than prices charged. Get a proper hotel, we will next time.

Comfotable hideaway in Central Lodon”

The staff, the location and the price is well worth it!

First time solo traveller to London, it took me a while to find the place while I was feeling the jetlag of a long red-eye flight. LSE Hall is located on Maple Street, right next to YMCA, opposite a small green Bar called Simmons. It's very easy to find my bearings once I've realised that the BTS tower (staggering landmark) is like a lighthouse guiding me home everynight. I reached the Hall at 12noon, placed my luggages in storage and although the check-in time is 3pm, the kind receptionist informed me that usually they are ready by 2pm. With that I plonked myself at Starbucks just 2minutes walk away and rested while I waited. Check-in was fuss-free and I was in my cosy little space in no time. Small little room with a single bed, a study table, a wash basin, small closet and it was home with free wifi access for 7 days. Toilets and Bathing are mixed-genders shared facilities available on every floor. Some may not feel comfortable, but it's a great way to meet new people along the way. There is also a shared kitchen on each floor if you feel like whipping up a simple meal. Label your food in the fridge and usually it's still there the next day. Breakfast is a simple fare included every morning, offered on level 6 between 7/8am -10am. The buffet spread is the same everyday but it's basic American Breakfast that is good enough for my tummy every morning. If you are game for it, lounge around in the common area on Level 1 where the televison, computers, card games, billard tables and so forth are available. Simple but sufficient for travellers on a budget. Expect to meet a good mix of University Students and other odd travellers. The location is safe and easy to navigate. I would stay at LSE Carr-Saunders Hall again on my next trip to London.

Great value for money”

Big tasty breakfast, clean bathrooms, close to many sights and nightlife

I would stay again at LSE Carr-Saunders Hall for many reasons: the price is acceptable, it's a very good value for money. Although we had shared bathrooms they were always clean and we hardly ever saw any other guests there. There was a very rich breakfast every morning. The rooms were basic but comfortable, they were cleaned every day, beds were comfortable and linen clean. It's very close to Soho, the centre of nightlife, not far from Camden, and two metro stops, Warren St and Euston, are within 5 minutes walk.

My Stay”

Its in Fitzrovia, Its central location, and its value for money

I really enjoyed my stay at the Carr Saunders Hall. I found the staff helpful and friendly, particularly the reception and restaurant staff. I would have no hesitation in recommending the accommodation. It is flexible and provides for all ages including family groups. I would strongly advise that more mature visitors (i.e. anyone over 25) consider renting a room with ensuite bathroom for the additional and valuable privacy this affords. The area in which the Hall is located has a wonderful heritage both literary/bohemian and historical in terms of London's development. Its a great example of the continual change of habitation either through accident or financial pressure. The area is still changing and new restaurants and bars pop up to operate alongside the historical ones like The Wheatsheaf or the The Fitzroy Tavern. My favourite "pub" was The The Bricklayers Arms where my nightly pint was enjoyed in the most friendly and comfortable of surroundings.

Great location, but. . .”

Location, breakfast, and price

As a budget traveler, the location and price for LSE Carr-Saunders Hall can't be beat, plus breakfast is included in the price and there was a great variety of food. However, the rooms and beds are very basic and, while the hotel itself was quite, there was a lot of street noise at all hours of the night that we could hear regardless of whether the window was open or not (and we were on the 4th floor). The biggest issue for us though, was the sign in the room over the sink that said "This water isn't suitable for drinking". Excuse me? I'm in a first world country and I can't drink the water coming out of the faucet in my room? We managed by using bottled water to brush our teeth. We made the best of it, but I wouldn't recommend this hotel to any of my friends.

Exactly what I wanted!”

Right in the heart of London

this hotel was perfect. we spent one night at the lse and we couldn't have chosen better. the rooms were clean, well sound proofed (a must in london!) and breakfast was not only included but lovely. a few drawbacks, check in was a bit of a chore. i'd reccommend getting there a little earlier to avoid waiting for half and hour. also water temperature and pressure was a bit dodgy although there were signs up saying they were working on that. there is room for parking round the side. it's not secured but it is down round a little back alley so not in main traffic or even in view and at £10 a day, it's not too bad for london. it was pretty easy to find too, just on the corner of fitzroy. it's a no-frills hotel that i'd definitely reccommend and visit again and for all we were worried that it'd only be twenty-somethings there, all ages were represented in the breakfast hall.

Marvellous location at very good price”

The three best things about the LSE Carr-Saunders Hall were its location, the price and the quiet rooms.

My stay at the LSE Carr-Saunders Hall was most enjoyable. This was mostly due to the excellent location and the many interesting and good little cafes, bars and restaurants in the area. It is close to two tube stations and in easy walking distance of Oxford Street. It is certainly not luxurious accommodation, but it is clean, the atmosphere is friendly and the price is amazing for London.
