In one word: Stupendous”
My friend had booked the Thresher cove dive resort as a backup in case we ran out of things to do in Cebu. Thank God she had because we had the best three days in malapascua and I owe it to the staff at Threshers cove dive resort. We lived in the backpackers dorm C and while the room itself wasn't special, it had all the basic amenities you'd need. What sold this resort to me was the extremely friendly staff. They will make you feel like you're in tropical paradise. The food at the restaurant is a little on the sweet side but then again, it was not very bad and reasonably priced. They have a special backpacker menu where everything is at least 50 pesos cheaper. Absolutely recommend this resort to everyone. I know I'll be going back there for sure! :)

Get up early and see the Thresher sharks!”
I was at Thresher Cove Resort for a week in September, 2014. The Good The diving. Thresher sharks in the morning and Mandarin fish at night. Just awesome. The prices are very reasonable, the gear is in great shape, and the guides know the dive sites very well. The kitchen. They do a fine tomato and bacon omelet. I would also recommend the banana and Nutella crepe. Yum. The prices are a little high, but competitive with other establishments on the island. The resort also has a pretty varied “Backpacker Menu”, for those on a tighter budget. The staff. Very friendly, and professional, with fluent English skills. I had some ear trouble and the manager Luke arranged for someone to go and get me some medicine. I really appreciated that. A quiet, tout-free white-sand beach or a huge pool if you’d rather take a dip in that. The Bad No hot water in the dorm shower. The dorm bed mattress was just a thin strip of foam. The dorm bathroom needs someplace to hang clothes. It gets wet in there and there was no place safe to put my stuff. Something as simple as a set of hooks would be a huge improvement. Toilet paper. Before the staff leaves for the night, someone needs to make sure each dorm toilet has enough TP to get through the night. Seriously, that needs to be on a checklist. The wi-fi. It was OK in the morning, but as more people got on, performance dropped to dial-up like speeds. Nothing to do with the resort, but the guys running the boats between Maya and Malapascua. The fare is supposed to be 80 pesos, and a 20 peso flatboat fee if the tide is out. That's in theory. In reality, they will try to work you for every peso they can get. You are at their mercy, so there really isn't much you can do about it, but consider yourself warned. Overall, I would say that the resort is a very good deal for the price that I paid, and I would recommend it to others. It’s a nice place in a great location. With some improvements, it could be a great place in a great location.

amazing stay!”
we really enjoyed our stay at Thresher Cove Dive Resort; the staff was super friendly and helpful, also very professional (reception, management, dive base); the room we stayed in (the lookout) was hands down the best, nicest place we ever stayed in so far, very clean, big shower with hot water, balcony with sea view . The athmosphere was super relaxed, positive and friendly, with a good mix of families on vacacion, couples who travel, (solo) backpackers,... we felt very welcome. malapascua itself is also amazing, beautiful beaches, good food around the Island, good diving, friendly locals, we would definitely recommend going there and staying at thresher cove!

If you want a Relaxing, and Peaceful Vacation with the Best View of Malapascua, this is it!”
We stayed for 3 days and 2 nights(June 2016) here and we are really astonished on how this trip became really worth remembering for us especially the peacefulness, and relaxing ambiance surrounding this beautiful peace of nature. Here are my thoughts and praises for the resort(on different aspects): --Location: Choose resorts on bounty beach area if you want an ambience almost the same as that of Boracay(if you are the type of a person that wants night life). But if you are searching something which is relaxing and peaceful without sacrificing Malapascua's great views, stay on this resort. :) The location is perfectly situated in a small cove, surrounded by cliffs, and it has its own beach. Also, I would say that the resort is properly maintained as the landscaping and cleanliness of it has been consistent. Truly a picture perfect resort in Malapascua. --Facilities: Being on an island away from the mainland, I was really surprised how this resort is fully equipped with facilities. Given that it is specialized on diving activities, you can freely use the large swimming pool of the resort. Its rooms also(deluxe rooms in our case) are equipped with TV, hot and cold shower, and air conditioning. The fact also that it has its own restaurant which servers good food and snacks did not made us worry of its location being far away from the crowded Bounty Beach where restaurants are located. --Staff: No problems with the staff. Very helpful and accommodating. From the receptionists, to the restaurant staff, to the helpers, up to their manager, everyone is approachable. They did not hesitate to help us in our needs through out our stay. Bonus that if you are a Cebuano and can speak the language, you'll surely have a good chat in Cebuano with the manager(the manager is a foreigner by the way). So that's my review of the resort. Hope this helps and have a pleasant vacation! Hopefully we can get back again there soon! ^_^

Thresher is fresher!!!”
You will have a great time here. All the staff have fantastic personalities; I got some great banter going with all them. Thresher cove really does make that typical saying come to life: "it's more fun in the Philipppines." Yet as well as joking around the staff are efficient and helpful. Everything you need will be taken care off. Thresher cove is in a great location, all on its own just a 5 minute motorcycle ride from the main beach. Helps make it special and peaceful. My clean, spacious room had a fantastic view of the private beach. It was so nice being away from dive resort after dive resort on the main beach. Rooms are clean and in good condition too with great views. If you're looking to dive then this is the place to come. It's the cheapest place to dive on the island; yet the equipment and quality of the dive instructors is still top class. Only disappointing thing was the food in the restaurant. Every meal I had left a lot to be desired. Check this place out!!!!!

Exceptional”
Good place as we wanted serene and quiet location ...they maintain good cleanliness we got our room upgraded free to Villa, which added to our comfort during stay. We found food to be better than expected as has good options for vegetarians. Like to give a tip - if you are taking boat from Maya Port to Malapascua island try to negotiate, with boat captain to drop you directly at Thresher Cove resort beach, if will be very convenient if you are with family and kids or bigger group with luggage as well.

Awesome and Organised resort”
We were looking for a quiet place to stay at malapascua. We are very happy of its location as it's away from the town. We enjoyed the quietness. We booked captain villa. It was spacious and well funish. We were so spoilt by the nice services during our stay. I appreciate the good staffs from the resort. As for the diving, it was good. I love the mandarin fish, cave (gato island) and thresher shark dives. Enjoyed diving with our dm Monk Conje. The boat crew are also very helpful in many ways. Many thanks to boat crew Richard who settle the logistics for our BBQ at kallangmanga island. Highly recommended. Will return for the threshers again.

Nice resort”
Thresher Cove Resort is located at a picturesque small private beach with cabins/bungalows directly facing the sea. Staff is friendly and helpful. The only disadvantage is that the resort is a 30min footwalk or 10min motocycle ride (40 pesos/person, 1 way) away from most dive centres, and the ports on Malapascua respectively. We would recommend to book the dive course in the resort if you plan to do a dive course.

Best hotel for vacation and diving training”
Thresher Cove has a really private and peaceful beach rather than any other hotel on the island. You can rest on deck chair and watch seaview without any disturbance from sunrise to sunset. In the morning, you can watch the rising tides overflow the beach step by step. In the afternoon, you can pick crabs and shells when tides fall. Also, it has a very spacious garden and the biggest swimming pool on the island. The food and beverage is fresh and delicious. You can get food and drinks at any time. In addition, you can learn diving here, the hotel boss and trainer is a nice person who is modest and kind. And the equipment is abundant and diverse. I stay here for 4 days and 3 nights. I recommend Thresher hotel for people who have peaceful minds and who can enjoy the true essence of life. In other words, it's called 宁静致远,澹泊明志 in Chinese old saying. Btw, Thresher is especially fantastic for couples in honeymoon and lovers. In a word, Thresher will give you an unforgettable memory although it's a long journey to come. In all, there is a Chinese old saying 酒香不怕巷子深.

Beautiful resort, awesome dive shop and the absolute best staff!! ”
I was so happy I chose to stay and dive at thresher cove. It was so nice to be on the quietest part of the island! The food was good, the dive team was knowledgeable and understanding, and all of the staff were so kind. The only suggestion I would make would be to improve the dorm rooms even if it means a price increase. The other rooms were very nice. Thank you Thresher Cove!!!

Exceptional”
I had a great time at Thresher Cove. Got my AOW with them, and everyone was very helpful and friendly. The resort is on the northern part of the island. Their food was real good, and worth the price. The single cabana I was in was cute, and quite comfy. It was raining at night, so the breeze from the sea was nice. I'd keep the door open during the day and nap. I felt safe even if I was alone. The wifi was good even at night. All in all a pleasant experience. Might come back for Kemud and some other dives.

Thanks for your kind review. We have been working hard on the wifi and have invested a small fortune to make it reliable. We still have problems with the country's internet during peak times, but we have an alternative rolling out soon. But I have to say, its great to have the first comment that says it was okay :) Thanks Thresher Cove Team
i'll be back someday ^^”
everything about thresher cove is really my kind of place. right in front of the beach, private beach nonetheless. perfect size swimming pool, and beautiful surrounding, perfect for photos. cheap as any dorm room can be, clean and nicely AC-ed so you'll be sleeping comfortly in the hot climate. really really good meal, like every single food i ordered, and not so expensive tough, a lot of DC operate could charge more. lots of local food experience for me. everyone was so kind and helpful... downside is, the toilet only have tissue for cleaning, but the kind Sams took care of that by getting a bucket fo me :) , and the private location can be frustating if you want to walk to another restaurant or beach or just walk to the village... but i'm too tired after diving and just want to chill out in the common room, watching dvds and deciding what's for dinner from the menu ^^

Great stay!”
Really enjoyed my 10 night stay...during cornavirus time (March). Everything you need is there to have a great stay on Malapascua Island. Right on a private beach, biggest pool on Malapascua, great restaurant, multiple diving options, and wonderful staff. The island is so small it's easy to walk anywhere, otherwise take a very convenient and cheap motorcycle ride to market or main beach. Special thanks to management for going the extra mile for helping us out, and keeping us informed in tough times.

So sad we had to leave this place”
Malapascua in itself is a pure gem and worth visiting, but Tresher Cove Resort made our stay unforgettable. The Resort is super clean and the staff is purely amazing. We loved diving with the crew, who were really active in finding the best spots/times and always happy to help to organize our needs. Highly recommend the reosrt and place to divers. The food in the resaurant was always fresh and tasty with lots of vegetarian options.

Good value for money”
The resort is right on the beach. Beautiful location. Nice pool. We stayed in an 8 person dorm. The room and bathroom were clean, the beds seem small though. The mattresses barely fit on the bunk bed frame. I only had 2 issues with this resort. The first being the price of the food. Given that the resort is a little out of the village I thought the restaurant should be a little more accomodating. Water, coffe and tea aren't even complimentary which has seemed to be the norm in our trip so far. My second issue was with the dive shop. The diving is amazing there but as a lover of the ocean I didn't like how touchy our guides were with the wildlife. Using their metal sticks to poke everything so it could be seen by the group. I also had one guide who lets his chalk board and stick hang during the entire dive letting it drag over precious coral. Also, the dive boat didn't supply any snacks, which I also think is a bit strange. Every dive shop I've gone with on this trip has supplied snacks on board but they did have coffee and tea. Anyways, that's just me being nit picky. I would definitely stay and dive with thresher cove again.

Perfect Stay at Thresher Cove”
My stay in Thresher Cove was perfect! I booked the Dorms room which was what I ve expected. The toilets and the shower was over my expectations... Really clean! The staff was very friendly and all the time helpful! There is a Security which makes notes when you leaved and returned to the resort! The diving was wonderful and the Divemasters are really experienced and care about your individual wishes... I would love to return as soon as possible! Thank you for making my stay that pleasant!

Great stay”
Our stay at the resort as well as the dives were really amazing, highly recommended. Highlights: - Very kind and helpful Staff (both diving and non-diving) - Dives at El Gato Island tunnel and Monad Shoal (Thresher sharks!) Could be improved: - Communication: There was supposed to be an intro session at 6pm the day we arrived, but it didn’t take place and there wasn’t any info about it. It would have been nice to learn more about the dive sites before signing up on the board - Pre-dive buddy checks: On the boat, the staff was very helpful for the gear preparation and set up. However they urged us to jump in the water without giving much time for a proper buddy check. Since it is about basic safety I would suggest improving this point.

Thresher Shark Diving”
Thresher Cove is not a bad place to stay. It's located far enough away from the main town, that we didn't get the noise, but close enough to go into the town if you want to. The best part of our trip was the diving. We had a really great dive guide. His name was Gibb. He suggested that we dive Nitrox when we were going to the thresher shark site. It was a great call. Many people dove air. By following his suggestion, we were able to stay at depth longer, and see more of the sharks. He also has a great eye for finding the small things. The rest of the staff is excellent as well, and were very helpful during our stay. Overall we were satisfied with our stay, and would stay here again.

Very good Diving, Rooms in different price categories available”
We had booked the Captains Villa, which was very nice. At Thresher Cove also budget backpacker rooms are available. They offer good food for reasonable price. Diving staff was very good. Own security service. At first we were not shure, whether we our stay was worth the price, because after all, this is not a luxury spa hotel. But in the end we very much enjoyed our stay at thresher cove.

Value for Money. Fantastic Amenities. Super clean!”
I enjoyed my stay here at Thresher Cove. The mixed dorm is so affordable and they offer an affordable menu for backpackers $3 usd per meal! The large pool and own small beach front was a plus and they even offer free motorbike services. :) Staff are so friendly, courteous and nice!! and the bathroom.. its clean! decent to have a warm bath.. the only catch tho is the water they have in the bathrooms is brackish water (mix of salty and fresh water). but everything is fine! I love this place! thank you very much!! book here you will not be disappointed. :)
