Nice Hotel ”
Our stay at the Mardale was good ... with a nice room and attentive pleasant staff. We ordered room service and the grilled chicked was served as we asked them to cook, well done. The hotel provide a nice air con airport car service an always on time. A little downside to the hotel the linen provided unfortunately is not up to standard but for the rest a very nice hotel.

The reason i did not give Mardale a higher score is because there was a smell that although was not bad, it was unpleasant - in my room and the water pressure on the 6th floor was practically non existent. I showered to a trickle of water-

A hotel that needs improvement on cleanliness.”
Food/Dinning was good except on 10% room service charged. Hotel Condition was good except on cockroaches on the floor. Location was good. Easy access to nearby facilities. Room Comfort was good. Room was not sound-proof so expect to hear voices and sounds of staffs and other guests walking around the hallways. Staff Performance was good or near to excellence. We are allowed to check in earlier. And other than those negatives and once improve or fix, the hotel is better than the other hotels around the city.

The saving grace - Ms. Melody.”
Not the best experience. The saving grace is Ms. Melody at the reservation desk, who goes out of her way to help with the needs of hotel guests. If not for her, we would not have stayed there again because there are many things that needs to be improved in this hotel. For one, the cleanliness of the room. The first time we checked in, there was a dead cockroach in the CR which was already attacked by ants and the towels were already very old and brownish. To think we were in a higher end room. I didn't mind about the towels much because I always bring our own towels even if we stay in a 5-star hotel. The worst during that first stay was that the room was not made up when we got back at the hotel at 5pm! My husband and I went out very early to go to our field experiment. We were so in a hurry to leave at 7am that we left the room quite in chaos. It would have been nice to come back to a freshly made up bed and clean bathroom after a long day's work. When I called up housekeeping, their answer was "you did not leave instruction to clean the room!"... So it's not their SOP to clean the rooms everyday! Three months later, we stayed there again...because of Melody. I booked the executive suite hoping that it will leave up to its name. Again another disappointment! The cabinet below the sink was broken and would not close. Then the remote control of the aircon was not functional so had to call reception again. Turned out the batteries were already dead. We entered the room at 1 pm so it was so hot and then had to wait for the housekeeping to check the aircon and wait some more in the scorching room for the new batteries!...They should check that the rooms are in good condition before their guests arrive!

Disapponting Experience”
I have travelled to many places from Times Square in New york to Shanghai and even domestically. In these numerous travels, i was able to stay in both 5-star hotels and budget hotels. What is disappointing in our 3-day stay in Mardale are the ff: 1. Standard services are lacking: - no rags in the toilet that may result to slippage. We still need to request it daily. - hot and cold shower is not working and my kids were shivering right after every bath - no light in the mirror area 2. The hotel lacks appropriate repairs and maintenance. - doorknob of toilet is not working. Hence, we just ask the key to be left in the knob. - the TV was initially not working but was eventually fixed. 3. Pest infestation - presence of cockroaches

Comfortable hotel not far from Gaisano Mall”
The internet reception was not that good in the standard room and there were ants and a couple cockroaches in my room, but I guess it's to be expected in small city hotels in the Philippines. The size of the room was decent at least and the air conditioning worked really well. They only give a thin blanket with the sheets though. The pillows were thin as well.

The hotel have posted in the website free WIFI connection in all rooms, unfortunately when I checked-in and asked the WIFI password, the staff suddenly say "we don't have wifi connections in the room". One early morning around 5:30 am, I got this worst news I ever heard in my whole life. All of my garments I entrusted for laundry has gone and said to be stole. I called up the housekeeping to ask the laundry list they have for me to itemize my lost garments, unfortunately they could not provide any rather they showed to me their log book just stating "3 pants, 4 shirts". I was about to explode to know how incompetent the internal system of the hotel. First, they don't have controls or proper protocol set ups with their subcontractors. Second, they don't have concrete operational systems so that staffs could be guided properly how to react on certain situations. Lastly, staff have poor customer service training. Doesn't know how to project themselves properly, one of the staff even about to start reciting their policies to me during the check in, which is supposed to be a big NO NO in a hotel industry. I am not say that I will never want to stay in Mardale ever again, but as of now, I will try to avoid the hotel because of the bad experience I had with them. I am hoping that the management could do something to improved this two main criteria that they should bare to create better impressions on their clients. Building is not the basis of being a good hotel, but its how the client was accommodated, after all it's all about comfort in accommodation. They must create or enforce better procedural systems within the hotel that should reflect and must accompanied with true essence of having a better customer service. One thing, please improve the cleanliness of your rooms, drawers smells rat urine.

Great staff”
Well, in all fairness, it was a reasonable rate, so perhaps one cannot expect too much. Having said that...I would not rate this 4 star, simply based on experience. I already read reports of cockroaches, and apparently in this city, it's pretty hard NOT to have them. So it's not something I am used to. I also found the room to have an unpleasant scent each time I went in. The staff is friendly and courteous, and honestly, that's what matters to me most. You get used to the room, even the occasional bug. I would stay there again, just maybe get a room with a window next time. Budget travelers like myself...should really not complain.

Moderate Stay”
This is the third stay at the Hotel and although the previous stays have been fine I feel the Hotel has great potential to attract better business if it only gets upgraded. Rooms are not up to standards with smelly carpets and poor bedding. Another disappointment was we found cockroaches and ants in the room and bathroom and the water heater was missing from the wall.The day we arrived there was a big event just above our room and the noise was unbearable as were tired after a long trip, requested another room but the reception said they were fully booked, luckily the event finished at 10pm.

Our 10 day nightmare at the Mardale.”
Your information on this hotel is erroneous. This hotel is NOT new. They made some changes to the outer facing facade which makes it look nice from the street. Once you enter the building it is more than apparent that it is more than 20 years old. Please delis the "Family Rooms". The title implies a room big enough for 7 or 10 people but in reality all the rooms are the same size. Initially we had the for 7 room which they stripped everything out and it was literally wall to wall beds. There was absolutely no room for 7 peoples' baggage and the best part is no HOT water. When I complained about the lack of hot water, the front desk said they would have housekeeping check the heating unit in the shower. There was a hole in the wall where the heating unit might have been attached, after arriving to the room the housekeeping informed me that the water in the hotel was heated by "Solar panels" on the roof and we would have to wait until the next day as we checked in after dark. I have solar water on my house, it provides hot water during the night but maybe it a hotel and someone just let their water run. Problem for them, sadly I rented more than one room. Once I saw that the rooms on the lower floors had "Heater elements", I asked if they had a family room with hot water. They said they didn't so they offered me two rooms one on the 5th and 6th floors. The heating elements in those rooms are old and would stop working after one shower. So if you don't mind no hot water while in Pagadian, this is the place although there are cheaper alternatives that offer reliable hot water as they have better maintenance. Lastly, it states that they have WiFi in all their rooms. This is not true, even though they have routers/way points on every floor but the seventh again poor maintenance prevents them from working properly. Maybe the guy who set it up quit and now works somewhere else, but they really only have WiFi in the lobby area.

Why I will not stay in Mardale Hotel again!!”
Rooms were not what we expected and missing alot of items that could make us feel like we would come back! Not enough towels for amount of people in room, bath mats not in bathrooms, some appliances like tv, bathroom exhaust fan and key cards not available in all rooms. One room had cockroaches and was not clean! Rooms had smell like not very fresh or exhaust fans not get moist air out of rooms and making for bad smell. Other functions at hotel made hotel guest feel like we were not as important as banquet, wedding or business meeting!!
