High end prices for an otherwise mid-level hotel. Recommend, but only if you get a good room rate”
Paid £195 for a standard double room in a 4* hotel. Unfortunately, the standard of the room was no better than that of a Travelodge: fine in itself, but no frills and not a patch on other 4*s that I have stayed at. Room facilities: wifi, tea/coffee, television. That's it. Not even an iron (unless requested) Hotel bar/restaurant: moderate to expensive in price; range of food not great. £12.50 for a 10" margherita pizza Hotel Brasserie Restaurant (separate eatery from above): overly priced e.g. £14 for a burger. They do accept Taste Card but this didn't offset the exorbitant prices you're otherwise paying Hotel facilities: very good - room price included access to swimming pool, gym and sauna. The opening hours could be better though; by the time I was back in the room after a day spent shopping in Chester, these facilities were closed (8pm closing on weekends) Staff: lovely. Friendly, helpful, interested in how your stay is going. An asset to the hotel.

Nice Hotel, very nice room”
a nice hotel in a good location, was the hilton now the mercure, rooms are very nice with all amenities. maybe a little work to do on tiles in the bathroom but not sure how long ago they took over the hilton so would definitely return and the bathroom and bedroom was spotless very very nice. shower was also very hot so if you like it warm you won't run out of hot water. staff very very helpful and polite.

Convenient for a British based holiday”
This Mercure is very well placed for visits to Chester (it's 220yds from the Park and Ride), Liverpool, The Wirral and North Wales. It's also a short distance from a number of eateries and stores.

A comfortable stay but pricey for drinks”
This is quite a nice stay. It is very close to the centre of Chester and is close to the park and ride stop which is cheap at only two pounds per person return. The drinks are outrageously expensive in the hotel and the restaurant is quite pleasant but was a bit hit and miss for us. Breakfast however was very nice and good value.

Expensive for what you get”
Rooms were small although clean. Walls are thin. All staff were friendly and helpful Had to ask for extra tea/coffee etc but this could've been due to early check in Didn't experience the other facilities or eat at the hotel. Taxi into Chester centre approx £5 so the location is close enough to get to without getting stuck in city centre traffic.

Dissapointing”
The hotel was nowhere near the position indicated on the website so it took quite a while to find it. You would have to take a taxi into Chester to sightsee or shop, and Chester is very expensive to park £4.00 3 hrs. Bed was uncomfortable. Drinks at the bar are extortionate £4.60 for Guinness ! Our room had a funny smell possibly smoke.

Poor Birthday Experience”
We booked this hotel through Agoda and did request that considering it was my birthday, if it would be possible for a nicer room. My sister and her partner was also booked into the hotel and had also mentioned that something nice could be added to the room as a birthday surprise for me. The room we were given was like the box room, small bed, no curtains just a horrible blind, overlooked other rooms, stuffy, tiny bathroom with a toilet that didn't flush properly..... oh I forgot to mention the birthday surprise, well that was the towels put into 2 swans.... woop!! We met my sister and her partner in their room before going out and their room was really lovely, with curtains a lovely size, comfortable bed with a lovely, clean bathroom!! When we checked out we did mention our disappointment to the receptionist, who tried to explain bed sizes to us, not good customer service I'm afraid.

Family weekend ”
Staff are a credit to the Mercure group. Friendly, polite and very helpful. Food at breakfast was lovely. Room was disappointing for the price; I booked an upgraded Prestige room; tiny bathroom and average sized room, not really worth the extra as an upgrade. Howard was very helpful. Room upgrade ! Poor Attention to detail . Concerns: -Spotlight fittings poorly fitted. -Bed base was not joined together: we sorted this ourselves, -Furniture dated. -Net curtain looks like it's been hacked by a 2 year old, unfinished hem on the bottom. Feels more like a Model than a 4* Hotel. Staff and Cleanliness are the saving grace this hotel. Thanks Guys
