Great break despite the obvious challenges”

Feeling like we both needed a change of scenery, we booked into the Mercure Edinburgh Haymarket for an overnight. Obviously, the current COVID-19 circumstances mean a number of changes to the usual but, despite this, it was a great stay. The room was perfectly clean and pleasant. It was pretty spacious though didn't have a great view. Given what we paid, I can't really complain about that! A lot of the usual facilities aren't currently open due to restrictions but all the basics are there. Staff were friendly and helpful, and also kept us right in terms of safety in light of the current situation. Comfortable bed and a good night's sleep too. Location wasn't perhaps the best but it is walkable from Edinburgh Haymarket station.

Edinburgh is really beautifully city. Mecure is closed to Edinburgh Caslte and bus stop to go to downtown and ocean terminal as well. and very feel comfortable with friendly staff :) last thing is they good at breakfast!

Check-in staff efficient, polite and helpful. Bar seating area very small and not really comfortable or welcoming. Lacked atmosphere. Location was excellent, slightly overpriced for facilities, but that's Edinburgh. Didn't have breakfast or dinner so can't comment on food. Would recommend for one/two night stay.

Not recommending this after my experience in April The room given to me is not clean, fridge still has rubbish from previous occupant They don’t refill coffee, water etc It’s also far from the centre I was still charged for the other room when they rejected us

Mercure Hotel Review”

We arrived as a couple late on Saturday evening. The initial check in was very slow process. We had already paid so could not understand why this took a while. Think the receptionist just likes to take there time which is fine. They were very polite and said to us enjoy your stay. The hotel room is very cosy and the bed is too. Very clean room and fantastic air conditioning. Would recommend this hotel and stay again.

Specifically needed a car park, but they don’t have one, instead they charge you £10 a day to use an underground one around the block. Concierge chap was less than helpful, unable to help with bags and clearly just in a constantly bad mood!
