Very convenient location and friendly staff”
I travelled on this occasion with my 10 year old daughter on her first trip to London. We upgraded to a twin room for an additional £20 per night as we needed two beds. The room was quite small but clean and comfortable, if a bit stuffy. The bathroom was fine and there was a safe, tea/coffee facilities, free wifi in the room and complimentary soft drinks in the fridge which was a bit hit with my daughter. The location is perfect for sightseeing and shopping, walking distance to Kensington Gardens, Palace and High Street with Knightbridge and the museums also within walking distance but a bit further. Gloucester Rd tube station was quite close and not as busy as Earls Court (which is a little closer). Was delighted to find kids under 11 travel free on both buses and the tube which saved me a lot as we did a good bit of travelling around London. The hotel also offered a free breakfast for my daughter when I purchased breakfast for myself which I thought was good value. Our room was quiet and we enjoyed good nights' sleep. The room was a bit stuffy though, I would have loved to be able to open the window for some fresh air, though this is a minor gripe. All in all, I would recommend this hotel for holidaymakers who want to do sightseeing and shopping and who want a comfortable and convenient base.

fun but small”
Really hard to complain , but I have to really point our room was super small , To get this in perspective , I couldn't wheel cases around the bed and therefore had to lift them over , i had to stand the other in the hall…but really this is my only complaint, so be prepared for compact. Its a while since I stayed in london and yes rooms are small , but this one …really was a rabbit hutch the staff where great and all others things no problems , we were busy in the day so it didn't matter bit it was a claustrophobic breakfast and the gels serving , well worth the value , thank you ..

Small but superbly clean bedroom & bathroom”
There is a white pristine bath tub! The lift is tiny but ok as the hotel is not too busy. There was a fire alarm at 3 am of Dec 25 and some hotel guest obviously refused to evauate as I could see the light + ladies in the room while everyone else waited outside the hotel & the staff failed to evcuate them in the end. Lucky there was no actual fire. On my check-out the reception helped me find a taxi at £50 just to the tube station 7 min away but the taxi came very late so I waived a black cab which costed less than £10. Tge reception was very angry that I couldnt give him 10 more min but I had a National Express coach to catch. The reception was not very nice.

Clean, tidy and welcoming ”
The hotel was welcoming, clean and tidy. The staff were professional, polite and very helpful. The room was as described small double yet big enough to use as a base. Tube stations near by, near free attractions.

mixed reviews”
This hotel is closest to the Earls Court station, which is a nice area. Transit is pretty easy. I stayed for 3 nights. The high point to the Mercure is the nice reception staff, especially the super kind new french girl who was always friendly...forget her name! Asides from this I would probably not stay again as the hotel was hugely overpriced, the room was tiny,no breakfast, expensive wifi and they cut the hotel water off without notifying me just before I was getting ready to leave....and shower! All hotels in London are quite expensive but the quality for the cost of this hotel was poor.

Very good”
Unimpressed with the hotel overall. Not all was bad though, so let me start with the good points; It was very clean, location is excellent, and the staff is great! However, the room was too small for two adults, very old and poorly maintained. The air-conditioning didn’t work, the shower kept falling down and I really don’t get why you would put a badtube in a room this small… The breakfast was fine, could do with some fresh coffee tough.

Good location but poor airconditioning”
My wife and I checked into the hotel in the evening in early July this year, the location of the hotel is reasonable good, the room is big and clean, however upon checking into the room we realized that the room was very warm and stuffy despite turning on the air conditioning. We have complained to the front desk and they sent a maintenance guy to check it out and when we returned from our dinner the room remained warm and we were sweating ! We brought this up with the front desk again and we were told that that is normal and it will take a few hours to cool down. We have stayed in many hotels world over and knew that it was not normal. We managed to go to bed late at night and only by 3-4 am in the morning the room did feel a bit cool. The management really have to look into this issue for this is a really basic amenity that will make stay comfortable.

Small, but well-proportioned”
The hotel is right beside the BUPA Cromwell hospital. Very central location within five minutes' walk to Earl's Court tube station. My room was TINY, but well-furnished and designed.

I'll not stay again.”
1. Too much small. There is no space at all to open a baggage. 2. It is 4 STAR hotel. How come there is no refrigerator. 3. The room is NOT insulated again noise. I heard the person snoring in the next room. I couldn't sleep comfortably. It is just like 3 star hotel. Just very expensive. I'll not stay there again.

ripped off ”
My stay with my girlfiend was poor. advertised this room as a classic double, it was tiny. I had to walk sideways around the room, 300mm between end of bed to the wall, impossible for a human being to walk past the bed, it was about 350mm between side of bed and wall o my side of the bed. Two people could not stand side by side in this room. It is the worst room I have ever stayed in. This room should be for a single bed not double. My bedroom at home is bigger than this. The bar tender needs lessons in dealing with people and how you are meant actually tend to people when working behind a bar.

Basic room which was a good incentive to sight see”
The room was not designed for the king size bed so we spent most of our time side stepping around the room.
