Spacious room with the feeling of traditional Japan room. Very comfortable and I like the environment. Might have prob with communication since the staff cant speak english but it is okay by using simple gesture. But mind that although the hotel is just 10 min from JR station but its a long way to go during winter and you need to cross the train railway. I brought 1 bagpack & 1 medium luggage (22kg) but believe me, its a tough job & need quite a stamina to pull the luggage during snow to get to the hotel because of the road condition. Not recommended for family with children.

This place is further than the rest of the other hotels in Abashiri, but the owner is very nice and friendly elderly gentleman. To get there: turn left when you get out of the station and keep walking down the main road until you pass a restaurant with a crab sign (about 200m). Keep walking a bit further then take the next left, and walk down that street to cross the railway tracks. Then turn left again and keep walking (about 50m) until you see the Minshuku lamp sign (which is in Japanese). The owner can show you an alternative way through the carpark which is faster as well (walk through the station carpark then cross the tracks, then walk right down the road a bit more) The room is basic and you have to make your own futon, but there's a great heater (need to keep turning it back on every 2 hours tho), and fast wifi in the room. You can also order a basic breakfast of hokkaido milk + bun if you'd like. The owner can let you know what time the buses depart from the station for the ice breaking cruise, and allowed me to leave my bags in my room and stay in there for a late check out. There's is a western toilet and a japanese toilet, and a japanese style bathroom with a hot tub to soak in after showering. Overall the place has character, and the owner too! If you'd like something a bit different to the usual business hotels then I'd definitely recommend checking this place out!

Cheap Hotel in Abashiri....2800Yen / night.”

From Abashiri JR station, walk straight until you reach the main road in front of JR station. Turn left, walk on the left side, go straight 150-250 metres until you reach a GAS STATION. Turn left on the small road before/next to Gas Station, and walk along the road a bit (20metres) and try to go straight to CROSS the railway track, continue to walk until your reach the main road. Then turn right and walk straight for 100 metres (maybe, not far). The hotel is on your right side. The Hotel sign is in Japanese. Try to remember the sign or hotel building or better ask someone. For me, as a solo woman, walking from JR to hotel with a wheel luggage is quite difficult. BUT I ask for direction from a gas station boy, he was very kind, he walked with me and helped me carry the luggage cross the railway track, and walk with me to the hotel. Otherwise, it maybe diffecult to find a hotel on my own. No people around to ask. The room is small, Japanese style, the owner Hide-san is very nice. I would recommend this hotel for a budget traveller. REQUEST for a room far away from the kitchen and bathroom.

The very nice manager gave me a warm welcome and provided me with some hints and helpful information what to see and where to go for dinner. I even got a bicycle to get faster to the city. When you want to experience Japanese hospitality in a simple minshuku with nice clean rooms come here.

The staff can not speak English very well, but they are very nice to offer help.There are several rooms but the address and the accommodation couldn't make you feel safe, although it was actually safe. The location is a bit remote,there isn't many restaurants around, 20minutes walk to JR station in the snowy day if you don't want to take a hurry walk. But you will see a natural and a amazing view on your way to JR station.The accommodation have to be improved, a bit dirty, but the heat make you warm.All in all,not recommended if you have more budget.

The staff was super friendly, but there were just two of them and they weren't there the whole time. Outside the room there was no heater, so it was really cold everytime you had to go to the toilet. It doesn't seem like they have time to clean, because the toilet was dirty and was still dirty when we left. I didn't shower. The staff gave us a super delicious pan for breakfast, that was the good point. It's also far from the station, and the rooms were in the second floor with no elevator for your luggage.

Not recommend solo female traveler / girls group staying this place. Because it's a hostel mainly for male bikers. But overall it's a clean and tidy place, with washing machine too. The location is targeted for people who drive so if you are not driving it's gonna be very inconvenient.

4泊の滞在で、スタッフの方も愛想がよく、観光地巡りで利用しましたが、宿泊料金を考えるととても良い民宿だと感じました。料金を抑えたい方には良いです。
