Not a bad location but rooms weren’t clean for such a big chain brand ”
Before staying for 2 nights I read reviews describing squeaky bedsheets and rooms not being cleared of empty cups for days - but took these with a pinch of salt. We arrived late around 10.30pm and quickly discovered the bed wasn’t very clean - the bed wasn’t in fact made up very well and the top sheet which had a blood stain on it came away which showed the infamous plastic mattress cover. It didn’t appear too have been changed for a while with various different peoples hairs covering it - which didn’t inspire the bed in general to be very clean. As there was no phone in the rooms we had to go down in our pjs to request an additional sheet and to remove the mattress cover which we had to change ourselves as “housekeeping had left for the day” and we weren’t offered any alternative. We had to ask if there was another room available and had to wait for the staff member to come back to be told there was no other room. We turned the tv on but it was limited at such a low level that we couldn’t hear it and could t adjust the volume but we’re just told that the volume was limited… The next morning after awful sleep what we assumed was the fire alarm went off at 7.14am and wasn’t the guest assistance alarm that was present in our family room. No one explained what the alarm was or came to check if we needed to evacuate?! As there were no phones in the room we were left in the dark and throughout our stay no one explained or apologised for the alarm. We all couldn’t sleep after this as we could hear the children above crying and moving about -the walls seemed very thin- I could hear someone else snoring the second night! After the first night I thought it wise to ask for the bins to be changed, rubbish to be removed and a new mattress cover given recent reviews and the 1st nights experience Throughout all of this there was no offer of explanation or compensation. No phone in room to contact desk, although the welcome message on TV said “Your room will be cleaned daily”, it wasn’t, reported to staff & first day was told room would be cleaned at6:00 pm. It wasn’t. I had too find housekeeping myself and leave the room in the evening for them to clean. Next day , came in about 5:00pm, and room not cleaned. I went back downstairs to reception where a different person told me rooms are not cleaned unless requested the day before and I did not request it. Seeing that I was upset and told him about the welcome on tv, he said he would take care of it. Once again I had to leave the room in the evening while they cleaned. Did I mention there is no closet or drawers to store your clothes…. Just 4 clothes hangers on the wall.
