A wonderful retreat, we wish we stayed longer.”
We planned our overnight stop Murchison purely to break up a long drive. But after visiting Philip and Daphne in their cosy lodge we were sad to have to get back on the road the next day and felt we'd done ourselves a great injustice not staying longer. The most welcoming hosts with a well equipped, intimate lodge. We were privileged to be the only guests this particular evening and had the run of the house which was pleasant but we were equally curious to see how the lodge would function at a greater capacity with the warm communal lounge area full of other travelers to swap stories with. The breakfast was outstanding. Best of luck to the owners with the lodge! We left quite envious of your lifestyle.

Beautiful Lodge with great hospitality ”
We arrived fairly late and were offered a home cooked meal ..... it was amazing. An entree of dips/olives/cheese and biscuits/bread etc, a fantastic stew with cous cous and vegies and a wonderful cake for dessert. Other guests came in from a local restaurant and were disappointed with their meal - they saw us eating and drooling over our wonderful meal (they should have stayed in). We had a lovely guided walk with the lodge dog Karrie (not sure of spelling) down to the river also. We were able to grab a drink from the bar in the evening and everything was very well priced. $5 a glass for the wine (yum). We unfortunately had a long drive the next day so had to leave early. I would definitely go back there and stay for a few night next time.

such a warm freindly welcome from our host merv , everything we could have wished for after a wet day walking the able tasmain national park , sitting infront of the roaring fire with a fresh cup of tea and homemade biscuits chatting. the rooms large are beautifully finished with lots of personal touches.

Countryside, fab food, lovely rooms”
We loved being shown the pigs and cows and chickens. Most of all, fabulous whole food beakfast, homemade bread, jam, freshest eggs and bacon to die for, the best while on holiday in New Zealand for three weeks. Lovely comfy room and friendly hosts.
