A wonderful experience on the river”
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Nakhonpanom River View Hotel. The rooms were clean and gave us an enchanting view of Laos across the Mekong River. The grounds and walkway in back at the hotel were lovely. The Ramada and chairs near the outside pool, was the perfect place to relax, talk, and take in the wonderful view of the Mekong River. The breakfast had a good selection of food available, and the view of the river from our table enhanced the ambience and made the meal more enjoyable. Many people enjoyed cocktails while listening to the music played during the evening hours in the lower lobby. I was told by the staff that they would play music requested from the patrons there. I found the staff to be extremely friendly and accommodating during my entire stay at the hotel. One of the staff gave me a ride on his motorcycle to the bus station for free, when a tuk tuk was not available during the morning I checked out from the hotel. I would definitely return to this hotel when ever I am in the area.

Nakhon Phanom River View Hotel”
Situated 15/20 minute walk south of the main town of Nakhon Phanom the River View Hotel sits right on the banks of the mighty Mekong River giving the opportunity for peaceful walks along the bankside. It's a big hotel - far bigger than you would think is required for what is not a mainstream tourist location. However, it also serves a purpose as a regional conference centre, so is used to hosting large numbers of guests at a time. The rooms are comfortable and spacious, though the decor is a little 'tired' looking in places. The food is a combination of Thai and Vietnamese cuisine, representing the close links this area has with Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh lived just outside the city for several years - his former house now a museum). Driving in the countryside around Nakhon Phanom is a rare pleasure - roads are quiet and what traffic there is isn't fast or dangerous. However, if you hire a car make sure you are covered by insurance or you could end up being liable for everything (for instance, in the unlikely event the car gets stolen - you may end up being charged for it).

Good hotel with nice view”
We have had the please once again to stay at this hotel. After trying some other hotels in the area, it was just like coming to paradise after checking in at the Nakhon Phanom River View. Big spacious rooms with quiet aircon (central - not a noisy unit in each room). Good retaurant and marvelous breakfast.

A charming, cozy hotel”
This is THE hotel to stay in Nakorn Panom. I agree with the 3-star rating. In addition to what I mentioned in the Pros and Cons sections, I should say that my friend and I enjoyed having a cup of coffee outside in the breeze very much. The place can get very hot in the summer, so the best time to go is probably during winter months. The hotel staff was very courteous, but I cannot tell whether they could speak English or not.

Best bet for Nakhonphanom River View Hotel”
Booked the hotel sight unseen but fortunately my stay turned out to be very satisfactory. I used the hotel's airport pick-up service which was a nice comfortable car ride, but I thought the price of 700 baht was a little steep. I booked one of the river view rooms, and the view was definitely worth the extra expense. The only downside is the lack of lighting in the room and fewer cable TV channels, but then again this isn't a big city. Thai food in the hotel restaurant was good, and the Western breakfast buffet wasn't bad either. The staff was friendly and efficient.

Large rooms, friendly staff, large buffet breakfas”
Although the rooms are a little dated, the bed is comfortable, the laundry cheap and fast, the internet fast and the staff friendly. This is not the place to stay if you do not have your own transport, as it is a little far to the town centre but other than that I enjoyed my stay. The included breakfast buffet was substantial and varied with an egg station and good coffee. I would return to this hotel if ever in Nakhon Phanom again.

Very Nice”
This is one of the more interesting and nice hotels that i have stayed at. I loved the location because it was close to the little city but also on the outere edge so that it is quite which really helps you enjoy the beatiful views from the hotel morning, day, and night. The staff was helpful in every way possible whether it be helping you rent a car or moto, questions about directions, translations, or helping you hitch a tuk tuk. Great shops for food and shopping all around also with a good variety of tasty places to eat. With all aspects considered, the River View Hotel is a great place to stay for the price.

Dated but still the best in town.”
Have stayed here many times before but as it was the festive week we could only book for 3 nights. The rooms are spacious and most have nice views across the river to Laos. The hotel is very dated and could do with a face lift but in general is clean and tidy and the beds are comfy. The reception staff were not as helpful as in previous visits and their English pretty much non existent. We have now stayed at nearly every hotel in Nakhon Phanom but although dated this in our opinion is still the best.

Decline of a Once Good Hotel”
I've stayed at this hotel many times during the last 10+ years, and I'm sorry to say the hotel standard is no longer what it once was. The rooms smell, the wall papers are stained and the intenet connection in the rooms works only occasionally. Internet in the lobby, on the other hand, seems to be more reliable. In short: the hotel is in great need of a facelift. The hotel has a coffee shop, a bar and a restaurant. If you don't particularly like loud singing while eating, I suggest you have your dinner early in the coffee shop. Also, as far as I can notice, they haven't changed the menu for well over 10 years. As Nakhon Phanom itself has few tourist attractions except for the Mekong/Laos view, this hotel is suitable for a short stopover before continuing along the Mekong, or to Laos.

good view of Mekong, but is in the middle of no wh”
The Agoda review is getting more and more stupid, by including "Skiing" for hotels in Thailand. Did they mean water skiing? Have you ever seen water skiing in a river in Thailand? As well, it FORCES the reviewer to select the language, which should be self-evident. (The same kind of mentality exists when booking -- they default to "0" rooms, on how many rooms you want, unless you click otherwise.)

Decent city hotel”
Although the hotel is outside the city center you can easely find transportation. The staff is friendly and welcoming but speak poor english. Rooms are in need of a facelift but size is good and they provide nice views of the river. Breakfast at this hotel is a real pleasure. The variety of food is great as well as the quality. If we have to come back we would be happy to stay here again.

Great place at a great price in a charming town”
I stayed here for a week on business and I had a great time. The rooms are quite nice, the views of the Mekong River are stunning and hotel's restaurant is very good with a diverse selection of local and western dishes. I was very impressed with the front desk staff. There was always an English speaking person on duty and they were always very helpful. The breakfast buffet was excellent. Although the hotel is about 2 kilometers from town, it's easy to catch a "Skylab" (what they call tuk-tuks up here) into town. The hotel can arrange rental cars and driver for trips further afield. I would stay here again without hesitation.

comfortable”
second time at this hotel this month and feel quite at home here. staff are excellent both in front of house and in housekeeping department. included breakfast is varied for all tastes and comprehensive. location is just outside of town right overlooking the river as you would expect with views across to laos. singers every night in bars. sadly rooms are showing signs of wear but not enough to detract from experience.

Good hotel with a nice view on Mekong river”
This was our third stay at this hotel. The rooms certainly need some updating. A new wallpaper would do miracles. That shouldn't be that difficult. The hotel has the best view on the Mekong. Especially in the morning you will have a fantastic sunrise above the river and Laos. The staff is very friendly and will help you in any possible way. And in the evening they have an entertainment programme if you wish to stay in the hotel.

Clean, spacious room with good view of Mekhong”
the hotel is conveniently located on the mekhong river on the south end of town. it looks a bit aged, but still offers a comfortable stay. the staff is friendly and helpful and always trying to please. the bathrooms show the hotel's age the most, but still everything works fine. the morning buffet breakfast was outstanding with many choices of either asian or western food. has an outdoor pool located adjacent to the river. this hotel looks like the best in town!

Overall Pretty Good”
The room was good with river views. We were disappointed our first night that when we went to take a bath the water was luke warm, we complained and the next day we had hot water. The pool was empty. The staff was very professional and the location was great. Dinner was good, not great but the service was fantastic. We were told before we got there there was a dinner cruise, but the front desk did not know about it.
