Exceptional Ryokan!”

This is a family operated ryokan. A mother and son do everything. It is in a quiet location easy walking distance to many restaurants. I was there for two nights and both nights. I made a reservation to use the hot tub. It was so relaxing after a long day of walking! I highly recommend having breakfast at the Inn. I had the fish option one morning and the grilled salmon was delicious. The next morning I had the vegetarian option and the selection of vegetables was wonderful. Each floor has shared showers and toilets. there is also a selection of alcohol, and I had sake each night when I got back from dinner. I highly recommend the Andon!

Super late review sorry. Nice spot not far from the station my buddy and I walked everywhere so the return trip being a quick walk back was extremely helpful. My only issue I guess would be there wasn't a large variety of places to eat at least that I could find. Though I really liked the Udon shop that was on the way to the station. Convenience stores were near by I believe two, one in either direction. The living arrangement was entertaining at least for me. I recommend for singles or couples. Don't do a me and have your buddy stay in the same room it can be too close for comfort, but that depends on your comfort zone I guess. The only thing I really regret is not joining in on the little get togethers they set up. I think they would have been entertaining just for the interaction in general since most people only interact with foreigners as needed. The staff are really nice if I wasn't an introvert I'd have liked to talk to them more. Thank you for making it so comfortable.

Excellent facilities, quiet neighbourhood”

We stayed 4 nights and were surprised by the excellent standard of the facilities and amenities. We used the jacuzzi room for showering and to relax in the spa. Breakfast menu was versatile for westerners and served with good free coffee. We paid the cheap cost as it was not included in our rate. The staff spoke perfect English and helped with directions to transport and sights. It was a short walk to the Metro but a good location for Asakusa and the Tokyo skytower. We would recommend if you want a Japanese ryokan experience at a good rate.

Lovely hotel in quiet location ”

Andon Ryokan is a lovely hotel. In a quiet, slightly out of the way, part of town, well away from the madness of Shinjuku and Shibuya, but still only 5 min walk from the subway. The roof too and jacuzzi bath are both brilliant. Only annoying this is that the key deposit per room was 3000 yen which if you’re heading to the airport straight after checkout might be tricky to spend.

+ very friendly & nice staff & a charming little girl + great breakfast (especially the japanese one) + great coffee (I know in Japan you should drink tea :-)) + great roof terrace + quiet surroundings + super market in walking distance + metro station (Minowa) in 15 minutes walking distance

Very very very Nice hosts ! Bathtub, 5 min to the sub, very good breakfast. We 100% recommend !

Beautiful ryokan with helpful staff. Best bit was the bookable Jacuzzi bath on the top floor. We had a wonderful stay!

A great basecamp for Tokyo”

A bit off the beaten tourist trail but accessible via Metro and a brisk walk. Service is excellent and the facilities amazing. Rooms are comfortable with the showers and toilets shared but not a problem. Would definately come again!

Pleasant ambience, handy location/ area and lovely, fun art!”

Three women travelers aged between 52 and 65, we found Andon Ryokan fun and very handy. Our luggage was kept after a 1-night stay, and waiting for us when we returned from a hiking trip. It was like coming home to this lovely, artsy, friendly, modern ryokan. Good coffee, nice breakfast, good value for money. Highly recommended!

Adorable hotel”

Very comfortable well thought out hotel. The entire hotel is very well designed in terms of aesthetics and travel comfort. Looks much cuter in person than in the photos. Bathrooms are very well equipped (all quality Shiseido products free for you to use). Walking distance from Minowa subway stop. Incredibly quiet neighborhood, but very charming. Our room faced the street but zero sleeping trouble sleeping at night. Breakfast was included and surprisingly very good. (We had vegetable omelet, but there were other options.) So glad we booked this hotel. Highly recommended.

The people here made you feel like family so polite and made our first trip out of the country so pleasant and helped us figure out how to get around and when we didnt book for extra days and wanted to stay they still let us stay for a couple extra days and was no problem even let us leave our luggage so we could do last minute gift shopping so courteous and genuinely nice the rooms are real clean and nice if you want a traditional Japanese hotel this is the place the best of the best highly, highly recommend staying here you won’t regret it the rooms are good size for Japan as most places have small rooms but it is a good size for a couple or single we loved everything. O and the breakfast was awesome and you can sign up to use the private bath just make sure your on time for the time you sign up to use it

Great ryokan , Great staff”

This is the third time I have stayed at Andon Ryokan, and everytime was great! The staff is top notch, and the Ryokan has everything you need but on a fraction of Tokyo's hotel costs. If you don't mind using the transit and the metro this place is a breeze. 35 - 40 min from shibuya and Shinjuku by transit. mind you the most efficient transit in the world. If your on a budget and still want an amazing place to stay you have found the place and look no further! The jacuzzi / onsen is a very nice perk to the Ryokan as well!

The staff were super friendly in this cozy hotel. The location is in a quiet neighborhood, but close to a metro station and with some good little restaurants close by. We loved the Japanese breakfasts.
