Booked for single room, size is just right for 1 person with a BIG luggage (open). Walkable distance to shinjuku station, and there are 3 different subway/metro lines to choose from. (All within 15 mins of walk) Place is rather quiet (which I prefer), away from the bustling shinjuku. There’s a traditional ramen store, a local chain 松屋 (Matsuya) eatery that is way tastier than Yoshinoya and MANY choices of convenience stores. This hotel has Onsen (spa), suitable to relax after all the long walks and non-stop eating. They are no tour groups, which means the lift waiting time is short, you can check in and check out much quicker, and front desk can attend to your needs much faster. The downfall is, English is not their first language, so it might need several repeats before front desk personnel can understand your request or question. If you ever need to get extra ‘carrier/luggage’ for your shopping, you can buy boxes from the front desk, get it sealed and send back home.

Great Location”
One of the best locations. Metro is walking distance, and so is the Shinjuku Business area. Food options are all around, including 24hr convenience stores and a grocery carrying more than a C/S. Breakfast has a wide selection, around 40 dishes. Staffing is excellent. Housekeeping is very clean and thorough in maintaining the cleanliness of the room. Just like any APA chain, the rooms are going to be a bit tight, but won't stop you from enjoying Tokyo.

Location is great. It is walking distance to the crowded area and JR Shinjuku station but located at a quiet neighborhood. There are a lot of places to eat around there too. There is a gyoza place right across the hotel where we always see line ups. This hotel is central heat control system with no AC. We like our room cooling but it was cold for the locals that day, so the heat was turned on. When we got back to our room, it was so warm. We opened the door and window to let the hot air out and I went to the reception to request the heat to be turn off. The lady who was assisting me went into a room and got me a fan, which I really appreciate it. We are from North America and we are used to the cold. The room we got was regular Japan size hotel. The highlight is their Onsen. It was amazing! Overall, we had a great time and will come back again.

Closest subway stop is Gyoenmae. 15 minute walk to Kabukicho area. Gyoen (park) is very close. Public bath downstairs. Laundromat cost 500yen per load. I chose to handwash in the bathtub. Good breakfast. Small room but comfortable. No wardrobe. Coat hooks on the wall. Electricity is disconnected when key removed from room. This means it is not possible to re-charge a battery when a solo traveller is not in hotel room. Good quality furnishings / fittings.

My 2nd APA Hotel that i stayed in. As usual APA hotel is super clean and nice even the room is perfectly clean. Facilities is good. The public bath is awesome. Hotel staff are very friendly and efficient especially the guy that help me with the check in.. will return to any APA hotel in tokyo. As i think they have a very high standard in their hotel cleanliness, facilities and the staff that is working there.

Hotel is very convenience as it is just 3 minute walk from the metro station. The hotel is very clean and the staff if very friendly. It allows us to store our luggage's despite already check out. The check in and check out process are very easy. You can easily catch a taxi to airport at the front of hotel. Value for money.

Value for money with great amenities, great location and best for solo travellers”
Room is small, but jus nice for solo travellers. It have literally everything that you would need: bath tub, big bottle of shiseido toiletries, disposable razor, toothbrush, hair band, body scrub, hair dryer. Bed is soft and pillow is flat, but manage to request for extra pillow and they gave me a more fluff one promptly, thumbs up for that! My hairdryer had some issue and they exchange another one promptly too though they did not quite understand me in english, so i would say their service is good and prompt. One star off from cleanliness as i thought the carpet wasn’t very clean, leave a bit sticky feel if you walk on it, but there’s bedroom slippers to use. Hotel even have onsen, though i didn’t try. Given good location (near metro, convenient stores and cafes) and amenities, the price is really value for money! Would come back again!

Great value in a perfect location”
The location of this hotel can’t be beat - in a nicer part of Shinjuku, right next to the beautiful Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, with lots of subway options and a short stroll into the heart of Shinjuku’s nightlife. We were surprised by how much space we had in the room - only just big enough for two people and their suitcases, but more than you would normally get in Tokyo for that price. The non-smoking room did smell a bit like cigarettes, but they gave it an extra clean when we mentioned it - didn’t quite fix it, but the smell wasn’t bad enough to be a real problem. The only downside really was that the bathroom door only had frosted glass with a sizeable gap at the bottom, so not the most private of bathrooms. Would definitely stay here again.

Rooms were a little small but it is normal Tokyo standard, the place was really convenient with metro station nearby and 10-15min walking distance to Shinjuku main shopping area. Onsen at basement was an interesting touch however I went during summer season which was really hot so didn't really dip in the onsen. I can imagine it will be a very nice touch during cold seasons especially after a long day of walking. Highly recommended due to convenience and value for money

extremely conveniently located beside shinjuku gyoemmae station exit 1. love the location. there's great food around it as well, especially one really popular gyoza place opposite the hotel. it's also a 12min walk to the shinjuku expressway bus terminal, making it more convenient to walk there instead of taking the metro there (2 stops away). also, just behind the hotel is the shinjuku gyoemmae garden. a super pretty place for workout/ picnics (:

Clean, functional, good location”
Room and toilet is compact and functional, neat and tidy. The hotel is close to a subway, park, shops, convenience stores and restos. Since the room is small, you have to be clever when opening your luggage. Also, the pillow is pretty flat, not fluffy as we’re used to. Breakfast buffet is basic but hey it’s value for money.

The staff at APA Hotel Shinjuki-Gyoenmae are efficient, unfailingly polite and helpful. The price is quite reasonable for that part of Tokyo. And they quietly don't mention there is a wonderful onsen in the basement, to help a traveler unwind at the end of a long day. Great place to stay.

Great everything from this hotel, although the room is small but we still managed to squeeze in our big luggage. There is an onsen on the basement level which is fantastic after a full day of adventure. The room service tidies our stuff and replenishes the amenities without fail. The location is really very convenient, with quite a few eateries just right outside the hotel Full marks!

TINY room, with really no place to unpack or put suitcase, but still comfortable—very soundproof, good bed, kettle, desk/chair ... Basement onsen is a great bonus. And location is superb.
