Famous Local hotel geared for western traveller’s comfort”
Good buffet breakfast with pancakes and ham, instead of the typical local fare. There is the newer sister hotel withe same name a few lots away on the same road. Try a different booking platform for this booking option.

Old musky hotel. Staff rude to their own kind (Asian) but extremely polite to Europeans.”
Hotel has seen better days. Musky and old furnishings. So many better ones around. Staff shouted at Asian guests (us) demanding proof that we stayed there before taking breakfast. As regards Europeans the same guy dole politely, wish a good morning n even serve them coffee. .... well, well, well .....

Like being amongst friends!”
We could not fault the hotel or staff in any way. Everyone was so very friendly, smily and helpful. We were given terrific advice about walks around the town and prices we could expect to pay. For example, we were told that beers would be 15-25,000 dong (depending on size and brand). This was reassuring to us, so that we didn't feel we were being over-charged anywhere. We had been scammed at the bus station in Lao Cai when we wanted a bus to Bac Ha. A conductor aggressively stood in our way, grabbed our bag and almost forced us on to a bus demanding 500,000 dong for the 2 of us. This is a common scam. Our advice is to be warned and step around the horrible man, the true cost should be 60,000 dong each. Don't pay the conductor, pay the driver. So back to the story - the manager at Ngan Nga Bac Ha arranged our return bus to Lao Cai and paid the driver on our behalf. Can't thank him enough!!!

Best place in town ”
Please note that this is by no means a five star hotel, but when you consider where you are and what else is around, this place is a winner for sure! Hotel is nothing fancy but considering where you are (northern Vietnam on the border with China) it was completely adequate and the best around from what I saw. Rooms were large, clean, and bright. Mr Dong who works the reception desk was a wealth of information and very helpful arranging outings and transportation on to your next location. Food was good, better if you order a few times and know what you like/don't like, and the breakfast that came with the room was plentiful and you had a nice choice of options. Not sure you are going to get anything better in Bac Ha seeing as how there are very few tourists there except for Sundays. The common area on the first floor had a really nice vibe with the various travelers that were hanging out there. Bac Ha market is right around the corner every Sunday morning. Good launching place for outings to local villages, local markets other than Bac Ha, home-stays, trekking around the mountains, or heading further northeast to more remote areas of Vietnam. We hooked up with a lovely tour guide from experience-vietnam who was fantastic and really allowed us to get to experience the local culture. Stay here and get a guide for a day or two, you wont regret it!

A Good Choice”
This is probably the best place to stay in Bac Ha. Firstly this place is likely to be unpopular with tour groups as the rooms are very different, they are equivalent in lots of ways but sufficiently quirky to get tour groups arguing 'they got a better room than me' no matter what the allocation, so if possible ask to choose your room. Secondly Bac Ha is not a gourmet destination, so don't expect brilliant and innovative cuisine. The hot pot here, whilst not a meal to die for is sufficiently above par and the rest of the food beats par for Bac Ha. What is superb about this hotel is the attention to provide the very best service. Their Wednesday tour to a market near the Chinese border is very interesting. Good tourist advice is provided and the hastily drawn sketch maps are surprisingly efficient should you go for a country walk to nearby villages they will help you avoid getting lost and trudging up the wrong hill. Thoroughly recommended.

Second time back to this hotel”
I booked 10 rooms at this hotel for my group of students and the check in was extremely smooth. They were ready with all the keys when we walked in the door. I do like that they have triple rooms in this hotel--one queen bed and two single beds (convenient for families). This is the second time we booked at this hotel, but the first time with a large group. I think this hotel is this most convenient to the Bac Ha market. The market is just down the street. The rooms are fine and the bathroom is clean. The bathroom is a toilet, sink, and a shower that sprays in the room (it has no shower curtain) so your toilet will get wet. My only problem with the rooms were getting some of the plugs to work. They had unplugged the tv and I could not get the plug to fit back in. I could have asked them to come up and do it for me, but we were much too busy. Some of the plugs we could use US plugs in, but others you needed an adapter. The front desk was great. There is a man and woman that run the hotel and they speak pretty good English. They were able to recommend a few restaurants in town, but their food was great too. Breakfast is only 45,000 dong and you get a fresh fruit plate; two choices between a fresh fruit smoothie, coffee, or/and tea; and for the entree you could choose from one of their pancake options (not pancake like in US, it is more of a French crepe), bread with eggs and other toppings, or noodle soup. I was happy with my bread and eggs--this was the freshest bread I have had in Vietnam. Overall, it was great staying here--but do not that there are a lot of stairs and they are pretty steep.

Great Accommodation in Bac Ha”
I can highly reccommend the Ngan Nga Bac Ha Hotel. My wife and I stayed there for 2 nights in August 2015. Staff are really friendly. Mr Dong, the manager couldn`t do enough for us. We were very welcomed and nothing was too much trouble for him or the staff. Very close to the Sunday markets.

Centrally located, perfect for a stay in Bac Ha”
This is a great Hotel in central Bac Ha, close to the Sunday market and any other sights. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are nice, large and clean. The restaurant serves great food and many tour groups stop here for lunch. We recommend renting a motor bike to see more of the beautiful scenery around Bac Ha. The Sunday morning market definitely is a great experience.

Great help and knowledge”
the hotel manager was very helpful with booking bus tickets, motorbikes and taxis to visit the region. Do not miss the Sunday market which is huge and really fantastic. No market on a Monday but the Coc Ly market on a Tuesday is great as well although much smaller. Make sure you go out early to have dinner as the village is very quiet (Vietnam? Quiet? really? ) every day of the week except Sunday. Great region to visit. Certainly much less touristy than Sapa. Much better value if you have to choose between the two. Also in winter weather tends to be less rainy in Bac Ha than Sapa.

Great location in an unhurried town.”
I recommend Bac Ha over Sapa as I found it easier to trek out alone and enjoy the nearby villages and countryside. The hotel was a great base to return to and the welcome was warm and interested. I stayed 4 nights and at first it was quite cold but rooms have heating and loads of hot water. On Sundays the whole place becomes manic with the market but by staying here you can enjoy a few hours of the market before the tour buses arrive. One caution if you are looking at this hotel on Agoda the facilities listed, steam room etc. do not exist! I was not able to establish why!!?? If you want a trekking or motorbike tour English speaking guide I recommend Za, she can be booked through the hotel.

Excellent”
It is not a 5 star resort hotel but for a small town hotel (only about 20kKs from the Chinese border) up in the mountains of north Vietnam where we went to see an amazing Sunday market it was fine. The hotel was very clean, everything worked, the staff were friendly and very helpful and the food was good. Great atmosphere and a visit to Bac Ha was a definite highlight to our overall trip.

The place to stay in Bac Ha”
I don't think there's much choice where to stay in Bac Ha, this place was just fine, great location and helpful staff. We hired motorbikes which was fun.

Good option for a quick hills visit”
With only two nights to spare, we passed up Sapa, and went for a less crowded base in Bac Ha, from where access is easy to other markets as well (e.g. Can Cau). Village treks not big from here. Busy small hotel, with energetic staff & OK meals... don't expect full room service daily.

Smoked filled lobby”
The location is good, but the road is noisy. Bac Ha is dead during the week, and this seemed to be the only hotel with people. Their dining room was the only place in town with westerners to talk to, and the food was good. But there was a certain seediness about the whole place. There is no elevator, and the stairs are dark and strangely placed. There is constant smoking in the lobby and rooms where the bus drivers and guides hang out. The manager is competent, but a bit surly at times. The rooms are ok, just 1star quality. There needs to be a bit more professionalism here and a LOT less smoke.
