Not what is advertised”
We specifically booked a larger room with a King Bed only to find that their version of King was really just a very conservative Queen. Had we known, we would not have booked this hotel or requested for an additional bed for our son - which they also did not have at the time when we discovered the bedding difference. The staff were not very helpful in suggesting alternatives either so not a very pleasant experience for us.

Do Not Stay Here”
This really was the worst hotel that I have stayed in. The check-in process was awful due to the rudeness of the lady on reception. The room was horrible and the heating did not work. The bar was packed with drunk people and it was impossible to sit and have a drink. This hotel is clearly a Travel lodge with a few throw cushions and some fancy decor. Worst value for money that I have experienced.

Great weekend despite the rain”
Stayed for 2 nights over the weekend with friends. It rained from start to finish which didn't dampen our spirits at all! Stayed at this hotel around 17 years ago and have to say was a little disappointed that the little extras that seemed to set Mal apart then, such as the lovely toiletries in the room, have now gone. to be honest whilst the room was lovely and spotlessly clean there was not much to set it apart from one of the newer Premier inns. For the first time ever I decided not to pack my own shampoo , conditioner etc but wished I had as there was none available . The shower gel is now the standard dispenser attached to the wall which squirts everywhere other than where it needs to be. The dispensers aren't even full in fact our friend had to go to reception to ask for some as theirs were empty. the breakfast was lovely and the £2 upgrade to full English well worth it. All in all a good stay but seems to have lost some of the pizzazz that Mal was first known for!

Lovely and festive ”
We enjoyed our stay here, it was lovely at Christmas time , I would give it 8 out of 10. We couldn’t get the heating to work that well it was very hit and miss , the hairdryer was broken , they did bring another one but it took them about 15 minutes. The drinks in general were very expensive . We would stay again it was great at Christmas time

Reception staff v good, but housekeeping poor ,requested bottle opener twice so no mini bar sales there, (still waiting) the bedroom phone wasn't working and we were unable to contact staff from room, bit of a safety issue especially if travelling alone. Neither of these problems were rectified, expected more from a four star hotel. Decor could do with a revamp, looking a bit tired and worn. Great location right next to local shops, bars and train station and easy walking distance to Arena.

Rooms clean, staff friendly and helpful excelent fascilities, although would prefer instant coffee/hot chocolate in rooms. That you are encouraged to take toiletris home to prevent wastage.

Nice hotel, restaurant not quite up to par”
The accommodation was nice, room clean and bed comfortable. However, the restaurant is a letdown both for breakfast (staff don’t seem to be on the ball , coffee took forever to arrive, at dinner the fillet of beef was over cooked and the bearnaise had no flavor and was served cold, when I pointed this out, they took away the bearnaise and brought back, exactly the same one...no apologies and no asking me if it was ok, despite me not eating it). Malmaison should have better customer service)
