Hotel is not a good value”
I went to my room only to see a dirty towel on the floor. Bed not comfortable spring sticking out.

Dirty prehistoric rotten stinks”
Absolutely disgusting place! What a mistake i made booking and wasting £60 of hard earnt money I should of just pitched up a tent out in a field. The room stank of mold/damp/mildue, a tiny TV with poor signal. Cheapest coffee/tea ect and no spoon. Windows extremely hard to open....maybe due to the amount of black mold build up everywhere around it! Heating turned off half way through the night so was freezing. BATHROOM!! A place to feel clean after a shower? Deffinatly not in this one, tiles,grout and some parts of floor and ceiling were just as moldy as the window. No actual bottled soap ect just a small glass with handwash tipped into it. Breakfast had a variety of hot and cold... most hot was cheap and nasty and as if it was cooked the day before. I'd never recommend this place its rotten, stinks of mold and stale cigarettes even more so when in the restaurant. It needs a whole refurb or just shutting down. Thanks for a terrible stay for me and my 10 year old son!

I stayed here primarily for the location, which suited my purpose. However the hotel is in dire need of a full refurbishment. My room could not have been more tired - a worn, stained carpet, dirty windows, a small tv on a wobbly stand and a bedside light that didn't work. I was woken at 3am by loud laughter in the corridor. That being said the bed was clean and comfortable, and the bathroom was fine.

hard to understand how...........”
hard to understand how a 2 Star hotel ends up in a 5 Star Village such as Hale and especially under the Britannia Group umbrella. The rooms are okay I guess however a small fridge is needed and rather than an 18" monitor as a tv the rooms would certainly benefit from a 42" on the wall, and a ceiling fan wouldn't go a miss either so those unpleasant warm nights and no WiFi in the bedrooms is absolute joke!

The worst hotel I have stayed in”
pros: kettle/tea/coffee, tv, sheet clean, bed was comfy, staff nice cons: dirty, rain coming in windows, chair needs to be on a tip it is so badly damaged, sheet ripped, runner over bed badly stained (hate to think what some of those stains were) cold, some towels left were damp and 1 was dirty, carpet threadbare, tv & table etc needed a good clean/dusting. Would never stay there again.

Basic but did the job very well”
Staff friendly and hotel located on a street with lots of restaurants and shops which is handy. The rooms are basic but clean, if you are looking for just a simple hotel with basic amenities then I would recommend this one. We didn't hear any noise at night and not disturbed. Would recommend this hotel again if you are looking for a cheaper basic room. No issues from us.

BRITANNIA ASHLEY HOTEL - WARNING”
OK FOR THE PRICE. BUFFET BREAKFAST GOOD BUT BEWARE OF: 1. ROOMS AT REAR OF BUILDING ARE SUBJECT TO CONSTANT LOUD NOISE FROM FANS. VERY DIFFICULT TO GET ANY SLEEP. CHECK AS SOON AS YOU GET YOUR KEYS. 2. SOME BEDS HAVE PROTRUDING SPRINGS - VERY UNCOMFORTABLE - I PLACED A TOWEL OVER THE SPRINGS CHECK AS SOON AS YOU GET YOUR KEYS.

Disappointing”
On arrival there was a queue at reception and no staff serving. On entering our room we were upset to see that it bore no resemblance to the pictures on the web site. The curtain linings were practically shredded. The windows frames/sills were caked in mould and dirt/rust. The flat roof outside was covered in bottles and cigarette litter. Bathroom floor covering (lino?) was ripped and non existent in places also there was no shower gel etc as per room description. The 'duvet' on the bed did not stretch across the width of the bed. No evening meals served but found great restaurant nearby. At breakfast it was a case of fend for yourself as most of the stuff was not laid out as would be expected. Upon talking to bar staff we were informed that Brittannia were supposed to be renovating the place - but that apart perhaps they should first of all be honest with the current description of the place and put some up to date photos on line - they can have copies of the ones we took.

The price was much reduced and didn't include breakfast. Certainly would not have been worth the full price. First room they offered me had an overwhelming odour of cannabis but fortunately they were able to provide me with a sweeter smelling alternative. There were no on site parking facilities and I had to use the public parking near by - free for me because I arrived late and left early. It's okay for a one night stopover on a limited budget

Room too small serious update required”
During our stay room was very small and in need of furnishing renovation (stuck in 70s). Lot of young male tradesmen with resultant noise and immature behaviour.

Location was good for its purpose. Basic hotel”
Location wise it was good for me as I was attending the course. The hotel Or self is Basic, small rooms, clean though, hit and miss on the shower and hair products - but there's a M&S next door. Wouldn't recommend the breakfast as it was cold. Bed was ok but rooms are cold at night. Again it's a basic hotel, it's a bed for the night and location is good for me.

Very good rooms at cheap price.”
I was looking for a cheap room in a hotel close to Trafford shopping centre. This hotel is only 20min drive to the shopping centre. The hotel staff were excellent. I requested for a quiet room and that was exactly what I got. The rooms were very clean and I really liked the bathroom and its cleanliness. The hotel does not have free parking but there were residential areas close by with free parking spaces. Thank you for making my stay comfortable.

In need of a massive update unless you like the 1970's run down feel. Very disappointing as the hotel is in a lovely area. At least the town has great places to eat. Uncomfortable nights sleep in a shabby room. Will definitely stay elsewhere next time.

Hard to find, throwback to the 1970's, TV over 20 years old no remote, no Wifi, really run down place in a very nice area. Good restaurants in town on the main street which are all walkable. M&S food hall next door. Alcoholics resident outside the hotel. Has an unsafe feel to the hotel. Night manager friendly.
