Best hostel so far by far ”
Pros- I absolutely loved this hostel. After being on the road for 13th months I can honestly say this is the best place I have stayed. I booked for two nights and ended up staying for 6. The house is amazing, it has a lot of history to it as well. Gloria and Rey the owners are fantastic and make you feel welcome as soon as you arrive. The other staff are wonderful too. Nothing is too much trouble. I stayed in the 4 bed deluxe dorm which was fantastic, it’s spacious, has aircon and big lockers. There is also a little food court at the front of the house where you can eat good food for a very reasonable price, they also sell beer and soft drinks. Great place for meeting people. Cons- there wasn’t any

As soon as you walk through the door you are greeted and feel welcome. The owners and staff go above and beyond for you, if you need anything at all, they'll help and sort it. The owners are amazing at making you feel at home and relaxed. The hostel is in the perfect location, the breakfast pancakes with mangoes are incredibly delicious and beds are so comfy! The lodge is VERY good value for money. I strongly recommend this hostel to everyone, whether solo traveller or a couple.

The owners and staff are incredibly nice. I had been backpacking for two months and was just starting to get a bit homesick, but this place made me feel right at home. I would compare it to a Bed & Breakfast which we have in the US. Staff were extremely eager to help you plan activities. They helped organized rides for me as well as helped a group of us to rent a car for a day tour. The location is decent if you are willing to rent a scooter for yourself, or make a friend and see if they want to explore with you. It is only 10 minutes from Panglao Island. It is within walking distance from the ferries. This place isn't a place to go if you are wanting a huge party. I sat outside with a few friends I met and had some beers. It is very chill and comfortable. I will definitely come back to visit Ray, Gloria, Adam, Archie, and Mark next year! :)

Felt like a home”
The Balilis are the most friendly and most helpful hosts of any hostel ive ever stayed at. Gloria, Archie, Kenneth, Rodnel - the entire family makes you feel at home. The house is very old but is beautiful and has a rich history - there are signs of it everywhere (furniture, newspaper clippings), but dont be surprised to see some ants and bugs around (its the philippines!). Mosquito net on my bed was helpful. Was surprised at how strong the shower pressure is - best shower pressure ive had in the PH. Breakfast is affordable with very generous portions. The staff makes this place home, and I have to thank them for such a memorable time in Bohol. If there’s anything I could say to improve, I would rec’d brighter lights in the dorm rooms. Most people say to stay on Alona beach, but visiting it for a day and I didn’t enjoy being harrassed by so many vendors, on a subpar beach. Just visit for a day to be surrounded by tourists. You’ll enjoy Bohol much more from your stay in Tagbi, then travel around at your own convenience. Will certainly stay here again next time I’m in Bohol!

Ray and Gloria are the perfect hosts, the staff are extremely kind and helpful, and the ambience of Gloria's historic family home is unparalleled. In the evening, Gloria provides space on the property for local vendors (screened for hygiene and food quality) and their bargain dinners should not be missed.

Great Hostel”
I loved this place. Wonderful, friendly family run hostel. It is actually a heritage house and has an interesting story. Location is great since you can walk right off the ferry to the front door in ten minutes. Yes, walk. My advice, rent a bike for as long as you're there. There's nothing to do in the city except go to a mall. So use the location to get to the Tarsier, hills, etc... then maybe go to Panglau island for a few days to chill at the beach, as this hostel is 30 minutes drive closer to the attractions. My only concern was that the fan in the fan room was broken, and not much airflow. Gets very hot. An easy fix, just throw a fan up in the top corner, and maybe add a few more fans on the floor on a swivel. Other than that it's a great place to stay.

Ambiance on a budget”
We loved our stay here. The house is so rustic and romantic. The ambiance of the place is a real gem for the budget traveler. We enjoyed their breakfast in the front courtyard under the stairs. Very close to the port. Late night fast food options available across the street. Everything in our room was in working order. Quiet except for the roosters in the morning.

This is a really unique place to stay and has oodles of history! We extended our stay another night because we felt so welcome and the hosts helped make things easy for us. We met some nice backpackers while there and shared a tour with them. Will be recommending to friends.

The location is excellent if you want to be near the Pier to arrive and leave on the ferry which was my priority based on when I was going. There are good restaurants within walking distance. The owners are super friendly people who care a lot about your stay and will check in on you or help you book a tour if requested. The breakfast was good for the price. The building itself is old (historic) with many antique pieces of furniture to enjoy. Do not expect a modern, spotless facility. The private room with two twin beds was perfect for my friend and I. Walls are very thin so don’t expect a ton of privacy. You can hear a lot of what is happening outside the room. Great little place with amazing people!

Nice hostel with a hint of history. You'll travel back in time on your stay here, with the rich cultural and historical background of this house. And the cozy athmosphere of provincial life, this 1940's ďesigned house is an art itself, suits everyone who wants to temporarily escape the everyday stress of city life; surrounded by tall fruit bearing trees, plus the warm welcome and friendliness of the owners and their staff. The reason why I kept coming back and choose to stay here whenever I have the chance coming to Tagbilaran, Bohol.

The hostel is located about a 10 minute walk from the warf. The atmosphere is great and the stuff couldn't have been more helpful and caring. They have local food at night with karaoke, which is a good way to meet other travelers. Would definitely sty there again!
