Location: My husband and I had a lovely bank holiday escape to East Lothian, this accommodation was initially booked due to its location(2 mins to a beach by foot and very short drive distance to multiple golf clubs). There’s free street car park at the Main Street , other places such as North Berwick, Gullane and Dunbar are a few minutes drive distance away. Bus links available just outside the gate to other towns. Dinning: It also turned out that we made the best choice as it is such a nice place for dining: the food is absolutely amazing and far beyond people’s perception of a pub restaurant or guest house restaurant standards. We had seafood for main course and dessert was also very well made too, with great music. We love both indoor and outdoor seating areas in the restaurant, you can see a beautiful apple tree and a pear tree with fruits and birds singing. Room, hygiene and service: The room rate is almost half of its neighbour hotels’ cost and more importantly, the staff are so friendly and supportive. My husband has MS and uses a walking stick. But the stairs are not difficult to him to climb up and staff were very helpful. The room is super clean and well decorated. Great WIFI signals in all corners (room and restaurant) and I was able to work from my laptop for half day without any disruptions. Covid safety measurement: Really pleased with their Covid safety measurement. Two face masks and hand sanitiser were provided when we entered the room, and window was open to let fresh air in. Room and toilet were super clean and were freshly cleaned every day. We feel safe to sit in the dinning area too due to its good ventilation. About Aberlady: A gate way to Edinburgh if you travel from the south, or a great place to stay if you’re to enjoy the seaside areas in East Lothian, especially good value for money compared to properties in North Berwick.

The continental breakfast is great, especially the coffee,juices, bread and fruit salad, but didn’t know if you need the cooked breakfast(eggs, mushrooms, sausage etc) you will need to pay extra. But it is reasonable given the low room prices, chef’s excellent cooking and staff service. No complaints to be honest.

A hidden gem in the tranquil village of Aberlady, ideal as a central base to Edinburgh and the surrounding coastal areas. A beautiful presented Inn with charm and atmosphere. exceptionally clean. The staff were amazing, friendly and made us feel very welcome. From the moment we checked in we were made to feel part of the Old Aberlady Inn family. The food was excellent, fresh produce was obviously used as our evening meal was divine. I believe Michael was the chef that evening and his Scottish Hake was second to none. A big thank you to Angus who looked after us that evening, he was charming, polite and a pleasure to meet. Breakfast at The Old Aberlady Inn was exceptional. Dawn served a full Scottish Breakfast, with all the trimmings. A perfect overnight stay. A big thank you to John and the team. Would highly recommend. We will definitely return.

We couldn’t stay for longer!!!

The staff were supremely professional and welcoming. It was a busy Saturday evening and the bar was already doing a roaring trade, nonetheless we were made to feel very much at home and everyone was very accommodating. The food was great, the rooms comfortable. the setting was delightful and the breakfast superb. Nice touch in the rooms with illuminated makeup mirrors. Staff were very helpful with storing our cycles securely overnight Our slightly wayward dog was very happy with his welcome too.

The separate firedoors were a little tricky to negotiate with luggage but I do understand that they are a necessity in an older property. Be aware that parking is on street and not reservable; having said that we had no problem even on a busy Saturday night (a wedding in the village hall). The main regret was that we were only there for an overnight stay. Would be a lovely area to explore and a great base for visiting Edinburgh and the surrounding area.

I tend to only write reviews when a place was excellent or abysmal. This quaint B&B was simply lovely. Nothing was ever too much trouble for them. The rooms were very clean. We ate evening meal in the restaurant which was excellent - the chicken stuffed with haggis was incredible as were the mussels. We upgraded to Scottish breakfast for a small fee and this was also tasty - a selection of haggis, black pudding and square sausage with the usual. Checkout at 12 was also a nice touch. We had the best stay and will certainly stay again. The village is lovely and it is a good few miles from the city centre, but please do not let this put you off, it was well worth the travel.

I loved the quaintness of the property; the lovely decor and the atmosphere; the room was very clean and very comfortable for our stay; an overnight on business. We very much enjoyed our dinner and the conversation with the owner who was very knowledgeable and interesting; we will definitely be using the Aberlady Inn for our golfers in the future secure in the knowledge they will be very well looked after by all at The Aberlady Inn.

Everything was perfect

From the minute me and and my fiancee walked through the front door we where made to feel welcome from the fantastic staff,the room was spotless and the bed was comfortable I probably had the best nights sleep in a long time,the food was out of this world and the cooked breakfast the next morning was outstanding,the drink is very reasonably priced,all in all I will most definitely be back and I will be recommending the hotel to all my family and friends its an absolute gem of a place.

There was nothing bad to say about anything apart from I wish I had stayed longer.

This place is a little gem! Beautiful village setting, lovely pub & comfortable rooms. The staff were absolutely lovely & couldn’t be more helpful & friendly. Even helped us plan our route to the Edinburgh Xmas market. Room was comfortable & had everything we needed. Plenty of parking on the roadside. Food & breakfast great too! 😊

We simply wished we’d booked more than one evening here on our road trip. Nothing was too much trouble. Fantastic evening meal and the room is immaculately clean with all the facilities we needed. We wouldn’t hesitate to return to the area it’s outstanding and this place is a hidden gem the staff where absolutely lovely and the continental breakfast was fabulous.

Friendly and welcoming, situated in a lovely village close to the coast. We ate in the restaurant the first night and the food and service was excellent. Very comfortable bed and lovely clean room with thoughtful added extras

Service was exceptional and all the staff are so friendly and accommodating. Don’t think I’ve ever stayed anywhere where they’ve looked after us so well. Food was fab and room comfy and clean. I couldn’t have asked for any more. Will definitely be booking again.

Recently refurbished - good standard and value for money Fantastic Stay, friendly staff - great all round experience. After reading some very negative reviews I was apprehensive although found out that these were from over two years ago and sense then the Inn has come under new management and has had a completely refurbishment. We had our dog with us, staff were incredibly accommodating and ensured our dog always had water and treats during our Dinner, drinks and breakfast.

Creaky floors.. but that’s because it’s an old building.

Staff was great helpful and helpful, hotel clean and very cosy in pub and restaurant area. Veryyyyyyy Dog friendly !!!! ... my little pouch was always offered water and treats. Food was amazing ... portions were very generous and very tasty....really enjoyed the stay

The continental breakfast was excellent for us. The food was reasonably priced and good. The staff went out of their way to help to make our stay very pleasant, even bringing our meals to our room when my husband was unable to walk for a couple of days.

The only slight quibble was with the bathroom as there was nowhere to put your toiletry bag but on the floor. Perhaps a few hooks or an extra shelf would be an idea.

The staff were excellent. We stayed with our 9 months old dog, we were happy with the way everyone from the team welcomed us. For 4 nights we felt home away from home. We dine in the restaurant every day, we tried most of the things from the menu. Everything was very well cooked and presented. The ingredients used were high quality and fresh.

Myself and my wife Jeannie had a great time staying at the Inn. We received a warm welcome from the friendliest staff ever - John, Gill, Ellen, Michael, Dylan and Co thank you so much for looking after us during our stay. Loved the food, facilities and room. Was spot on. Thanks again guys 😊

Not a thing to dislike about this establishment

Staff very friendly, the room had lots of amenities. It seemed like everything was thought off. I was very impressed with the cleanliness. We were made to feel very welcome.

The Aberlady inn is outstanding. Rooms are excellent and the food is magnificent. John and Michael go out of their way to make your stay very special, as do all the staff. We have booked to stay again later in the year because we were so impressed with this fabulous Inn and home cooked food.

Very pleased to have found this property and already booked to go back again. Very high class service and delicious food. We had dinner and breakfast at the property and would recommend the restaurant. Interesting menu. On street parking available. Lots of little extras such as toiletries, hand gel, face mask, yummy biscuits.

From the initial welcome to us leaving, it was an absolute pleasure to stay and eat here. Very atentative staff and the new owners were outstanding. The food was incredible and piping hot can not fault anything here at all. A MUST place to stay or visit if your in the area.
