A very heartwarming Onsen Hotel. The room is clean and tidy. Although the room do not have a shower but they do have a toilet. The private onsen is good. Service staffs are excellent - A "Big Thank You" to the lady that served us during our dinner and breakfast. She takes the effort to explained how they prepared the food and how to eat it. First time eating Kaiseki style dinner and breakfast - the presentation is very creative and the food is yummy ......

Delightful and Must-try Experience”
Such a pity I only stayed for one night, as it's fully booked during whole November! The hotel staff speaks limited English but enough to communicate. That is probably the reason that stops foreign tourists stepping in, but trust me, communication is never a problem as good service comes with few words. The room is cozy and spacious with traditional lovely Japanese style. And the food, OHMYGOD! U would like to give 10 stars if the top is 5. All food was made with seasonal ingredients - fruit seed, leaves, flower pedal, fermented veg....You name it. And I enjoyed the private onsen with starring sky. I will definitely come back with family or friends one day! Thank you so much for making everything perfect! 题外话:看有些评论会发现亚洲客户可能的确难取悦.竟然还会有吹毛求疵怪旅店不提供身体乳导致皮肤干燥...

Great ryokan experience!”
This was my first time in a ryokan, and I thought the whole experience was wonderful. I was looking for a traditional inn, with tatami mats and yakuta robes, and Onsen Hotel Gorakan really delivered. The best part is the private onsen time that is included in your stay. The one downside is that the toilet is far from your room. If you don't speak Japanese, then it is probably helpful to know a little bit about ryokans beforehand, as not much is explained otherwise. Everything was clean and well kept. The staff was super nice and friendly. The meals were a fixed menu and were delicious and quite sizable--we were stuffed! You eat in the dining room but have your own table. Be sure to be punctual--one of the staff banged on our door when we were a couple minutes late! :) I probably wouldn't do many nights, just because I like to be able to nap and make my own schedule, but the location is great--partway through the Hakone loop, so you don't have to do the whole loop at once.

Beyond my expectations ”
A small ryokan that really pays attention to detail. The hosts are amazing and very kind. Food was spectacular, got to try tens of different things in dinner and breakfast - all very high quality and well prepared. Room was spotless and the futon was comfortable. Public and private onsens were a must and was very relaxing. Overall, nothing bad to say at all, perfect stay at this amazing place.

A wonderful experience!”
This stay was a great value for money! The two very kind and pleasant ladies who ran this inn prepared a wonderful course dinner and breakfast, and it was extremely nice that we got to experience a private onsen at no additional charge. This place is also conveniently located 2 mins walk away from Gora Station, from which you can take the Tozan Train directly to Hakone Yumoto Station. This is a great choice if you'd like to experience traditional japanese food and room at a more affordable cost, and I will highly recommend anyone to visit it!

Great value 80s style japanese rooms! ”
The room was way nicer and larger than it was shown on the picture. This hotel was ran by a group of senior ladies who were kind, polite and very attentive. Room charge included traditional full course dinner and breakfast, japanese bathrobe and a 40mins private onsen session. A great saving and excellent spot if you like a little bit vintage feeling.

Excellent Location and Superb Accomodation”
The location is perfect! Just a few steps away from Gora Station. We enjoyed the private onsen experience! And the kaiseki dinner was superb! Prepared and served to perfection! Will definitely consider staying here again on our future trip to Hakone.

The staff is very friendly. I was fortunate to be the only guest that day so I had the entire onsen by myself. The food is great as well.

Perfect traditional Ryokan with elaborate dinner and breakfast provided. We were also allowed to book private onsen for an hour on the night we were staying and it was perfect for the chilly weather. Although the staffs spoke minimal English, they were extremely nice and helpful; we lost our way on our first night and I texted the Ryokan via agoda and they replied within minutes! Would definitely stay here again.

Best part of our Japan trip”
I didn't know my reservation was only for 1 pax (supposed to be for 2) but thank God there was a spare room left for 2 pax - and the view was beautiful from that room! The meals were the best part of the stay here so don't miss out on that. The staff are also very polite and helpful. The location is literally a 3 mins walk from Gora station which was great. Love the private hot springs as well. Space was overall pretty clean and cosy. Highly recommend!

Very nice onsen”
You can enjoy private onsen with a beautiful view. Though the room is a bit small, it’s nice and clean. Staff are helpful and polite, but can’t speak English much.

Doing their best”
Considering it was the aftermath of typhoon Hagibis, these ladies did a wonderful job. The highlight was the Kaiseki dinner which the presentation equaled the exquisite taste. Keep in mind they will lay your bedding while at the meal service. Breakfast also amazing for those like me with a taste for Japanese cuisine. Chose the private bath with my SO while other family members used the public bath. I think the staff was so busy, they forgot to let me know the water temperature was not adequate. The public side was better. Location a stone's throw from Gora station with many shops nearby. With the ropeway, railway, and lake boats out of operation we could not really sightsee much but we did get a small break from weather to view Gora park. Would love to return and be able to enjoy the full Hakone experience.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Apart from the gender separated onsens, the ryokan has two private onsens which you can book. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent. Staff was friendly and service was great.

Great location with a view!”
We came to this hotel with little expectation but was given a warm welcome by Fuji San at our window. This together with English speaking staff and a lovely breakfast made us think that this was the best deal we got in our whole trip to Japan this year. Sure, there are rooms for improvement in cleanliness but overall for the price we pay, we can only say that it was a great deal. A big thanks to the front desk staff too for the quick processing.

Great onsen hotel, use of private onsen, quiet and peaceful relaxing place”
However most of the time you can't find their staff. I've ringed the bed at the reception. At the end I have to walk around and also went into the kitchen before I could locate someone to help.

Nice place to stay in Hakone Gora area. The location was excellent - you can easily walk to the Gora station, as well as a few shops and the Hakone Open Air Museum. Staff did not speak much English, but were still very accommodating. The meals were really unique and carefully prepared and presented. Rooms were clean and spacious, and the onsen was a highlight!
