The Palace Hotel ”
I was immediately impressed with The Palace hotel. As soon as we walk by reception and saw the dining room our jaws dropped. High ceilings filled with gorgeous timeless peices of furniure. The light filled the room making it look even bigger than it probably was. The staff were incredibly friendly and always offering to help with info or travel suggestions. If I ever go back to San Francisco, I will definately stay at The Palace again.

Elegant and well staffed.”
I had heard about this place from a friend who stayed a few months prior. Everything went smoothly from check in, to our room, to the valet parking service. I really have no complaints about this place other than the ridiculous parking charge, but that goes for all of San Francisco.

Grand but bland..”
The hotel is located at one end of Market street which is a good location for getting around San Francisco. It's directly at Mongomery station from where you can take the subway, or the BART (to the airport for only about $8) or the famous old F Cars (the wooden trams). It's a very grand and pretty old hotel in the 'public' areas but the rooms, although clean and well presented, are fairly basic and as could be expected in any business class hotel.

Great Location”
Lovely hotel in the heart of San Francisco. The rooms are spacious and clean and the hotel is of good overall value.

No free wi-fi, expensive valet parking”
If you can do without free wifi in your room and don't intend to drive, this hotel is great. Valet parking costs 59 per night before tax, but being unfamiliar with the city we decided to use it. The rooms are very clean as with all hotels I've stayed in the states. The hotel lobby and rooms are tastefully decorated. We visited the Golden Gate Bridge using their public transport system, and the bus stops are on the same street outside the hotel. There are also numerous dining places to choose from near the hotel. We checked out in the evening of 4th of July, and thinking that there would be a jam, overestimated the time to get to the airport. We ended up reaching the airport within 15 minutes instead of the budgeted 3 hours, and waited at the airport for more than 6 hours. There were no jams, no road closures or block-ups from the hotel to the airport despite it being Independence Day. Should have used the hotel pool or checked out the restaurant, maybe even time for both. We were in transit to SFO after visiting a few national parks in the other states, and sadly the only amenities we used were the room itself. I heard there was free coffee at the lobby area but we didn't find it.

Elegant Hotel, Great Location. Amazing Lobby”
Great location in downtown SF. Well situated right in between Union Square and the Embarcado (WaterFront) Walking distance to everything and not directly on or next to any major hills. Easy to access public transit from this hotel as well. The lobby and common areas are as nice as any in the city. Rooms are on the smaller side and lack views due to location. The bed is very comfortable. Maid service was excellent. Bathrooms due not seem up to par with the hotel quality and reputation. Hotel Bar/Restaurant is very nice though a little pricey. Main dining / lobby room is strangely not open for dinner ; breakfast and lunch only and extremely overpriced. Pool is nice with an exercise area, sauna and jacuzzi. Had a great stay overall but this is definitely a business hotel. Which was somewhat of a negative for me. Extras like wifi, room service are overpriced, but overall if you can get a good rate on the rooms you will not be disappointed.

Luxurious Hotel in the heart of San Francisco”
Palace Hotel was a luxurious experience, though certain details can be improved. Parts of the hotel furniture/walls looked tired and housekeeping wasn't thorough in tidying the room. You get most of what you pay for though with the easy access to everything, and overall it was a pleasant stay.

Perfectly located hotel with 'grandeur'”
We had a fine stay at this hotel. Did miss wifi in the room, especially as it's a luxury high standard hotel. Also waiting time at reception was longer than expected for this type of hotel. Location makes up for all ofit though. Walking distance to great breakfast places, Modern Art Museum, restaurants & shopping.

Historic hotel in a great location”
You can tell the hotel had established for a long time by looking at the architecture. However, the interior of hotel is very well kept. Plus there's free wifi in lobby so we can safe the cost of inroom internet. Hotel is well situated, with restaurants amd shopping mall nearby. China Town is also not so far away from this hotel. Overall a very well stay!

Palace a SF fave”
My family has stayed at the Palace several times (and I expect we'll return). We like the rooms--elegant and quiet--the location--near BART, SF MOMA, and Union Square. The service is good, and the food better than in most hotels. Windows open--a plus to us. And it has a pool.

As the name suggests, Palace Hotel is a palace.”
really enjoy conferences at this hotel. i am local so i don't often stay in the hotel. this trip i did and it was a surprising out-of-street stay. for tourists it is near everything, shopping, mass transit, and great night life. through agoda we got one night at an amazing discount, more than 1/2 off and admittedly that made the stay even more fantastic.

Great, but not sure if it is the best...”
Room was spacious, great comfy bed, clean and all. But as a luxury hotel I expected more from the room. The room we stayed in has carpet stain, and some of the fixtures bit outdate, but overall was acceptable.

Went back for a second stay at this hotel mainly because of its location and overall good conditions of the room. Good value for money.

Hotel with classical charm”
This hotel has great historical charm and the indoor pool is great. The rooms are nice with high ceilings and covings. The food and breakfast appear pricy and wifi is not included unless one joins the Starworld loyalty program. The location is central but not in the best area. There are a number of rather good restaurants within 10 minutes walk from the hotel.

Beautiful Hotel with great location”
This was our first visit for my oldest daughter and I; the hotel was beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed the great location downtown - close to everything that we wanted to do and see. Brunch on Sunday was divine however; it was probably the most expensive brunch I have ever had - lol

Awful Value for Money”
For the exorbitant price we were charged, we still had to pay $48 per 24 hours of parking plus a fee for internet. There was no coffee/tea facility and the room was a tiny hole facing the back of the hotels neon sign! For a quarter of the money you can get a decent hotel within 10 minutes walk of this place. The tiny afterthought of a gym is a joke. Apart from the audacious lobby - this hotel has no character.
