Swimming pool and garden area was nice. Good food in the restaurant . Handy for the city, just a short jeepney ride. Aircon was little bit noisy, but I can sleep through anything 😊

Cheaper hotel with breakfast”
We stayed for 1 night at this hotel. The price is cheaper compared to other hotels in the city. Good thing is that the price includes buffet breakfast. You can also enjoy the pool for free. The only thing that i dislike is that the room we stayed in needs renovation or replacement of furnitures like the table coz it has marks and looks dirty. The door in the bathroom also needs to be repaired or replaced since you have to push with all your might for it to be close.

Improved”
We attended a wedding here and decided to stay in an executive room. The standard has improved greatly since we last stayed in 2016. The room was clean, although there was a nasty sewerage smell coming from the bathroom. We were pleased to have a refrigerator that worked well and the wi-fi was good. Amenities are basic but adequate. Restaurant food was good and reasonably priced, although breakfast very basic. Reception staff efficient and friendly.

Don't Stay Here”
Not as good value for the money. When I asked for a hand towel, the lady at the front desk said it would cost 50 Pesos. When I said that seemed high for something that should already be included, she said "You know that we are not a 5 Star Hotel"?" Well, I have stayed at a lot of smaller, cheaper Hotels, and they all had hand towels. The breakfast buffet was disappointing, the rooms were dirty, and the staff acted as though they had no management, and were not trained.

a big hotel with good location but poor service”
The toilet and bath in the room gets flooded. we requested to reception to have it drained and change the towel , but no action was taken. Its horrible to take a bath in a toilet and bath with flooded floor.

Spacious Rooms and Friendly Staff”
Although repairing from recent earthquake activities, the Philippine Gateway Hotel presents very spacious and clean rooms, beautiful swimming pool and a great restaurant. The only negative would be it is not based within the CBD however ti is really cheap to get a ride to the city central to access markets, bars and restaurants.

Ideal hotel location for Surigao city and Gasaino Mall. Work in progress, but not intrusive. Swimming pool a added bonus. Free breakfast but basic food. A few minor repairs needed in room, like loose tap in bathroom and shower not brilliant, but just minor and weren't a problem. Cost to buy a replacement door lock card a bit expensive at 300php. Make them from thicker unbreakable plastic! Accidentally split ours while in my back pocket! All in all would stop here again

We were traveling through Surigao City and chose this hotel due to its proximity to the airport. Check in was smooth. We arrived early due to our boat schedule. We were arriving in from Dinagat Island. The room was ready and they allowed us to check-in at 10:00 am. Very accommodating. The hotel seemed to be undergoing renovation. There was heavy machinery we could hear in our room. Fortunately the the noise ended at 5:00 pm. The room was clean, overlooking the pool. AC worked fine. The water in the shower never got hot, but was warm enough for a comfortable shower. The breakfast buffet was included with our room. Most of the selection were Filipino. My American companion opted to order from the menu (and pay extra). The restaurant accommodated him and let him order from the menu in lieu of the buffet. Thank you again! My only real issue was the WiFi in the room. Their system was set up to have a limited number of users per username/password. We could only login two devices. As travelers we would have preferred to login all our devices - laptops, smartphones, and tablets. Once logged in, the internet was slow. But it was much faster in the lobby area. The hotel is located along the main highway which made it convenient to hail a tricycle or a pedicab.

Excellent staff & food”
Pros : Clean comfy bed and room with good tv and channels! Good size swimming pool and attentive staff always on hand. Good breakfast buffet, but no drip coffee (this day). Quick easy check in/out. Transfer bus service! Cons: Water pressure wasnt great in the shower. AC was cold but needed servicing - smelt musty. No info in room for Wifi connection. Sandwiches available on snack menu need a serious review.. not nice at all! Menu needs reducing in size and increase in quality for the price. Overall a good stay. Would recommend.

Under renovation but still a good hotel”
I had a great time. I am glad they are with Agoda which makes booking a breeze. They are currently under renovation so you can expect to be accommodated to an old-type but carpeted room. The tub in our room is due for repair because the switch of the drain broke. This problem, however, is understandable. What I love most is their friendly staff. They're so helpful and accommodating to their guests which is a great advantage for a hotel.

REALLY DISSAPOINTING, BREAKFAST COLD AND SAD ,NO VARIETY. ROOMS NEED UPDATING, OUTSIDE OF THIS HOTEL QUITE INVITING, UNTIL YOU SEE HOW THEY HAVE LET THERE MAINTENANCE SLIP.
