Located on the main square of Postojna, right next to the old town, Apartments Proteus is set just 500 metres from the famous Postojna Cave. I would definitely travel to and from here by bus rather than train as the train station is a long walk up hill while the bus station is quite close on the main road near the centre of town and the hotel. The caves are an easy 10 minute walk away on a path beside a pretty forested road. The hotel is on the main square of the town. Reception was through the door to the restaurant and on the right. Check- in was welcoming and professional. Our room was a short walk up the road and behind the restaurant building. It was not an apartment. It was either light, bright and clean or a rather soulless white box, depending on your point of view. The bathroom was small but adequate. There was a spacious balcony with chairs. There was no safe, fridge or tea making. The double bed was two single beds pushed together with a small gap between the mattresses, but they were comfortable.

Great place to stay for the center of town and just a short walk to the caves but not the castle (10 km away). The room we stayed in were clean and comfortable but no kettle in the room.

Staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are new and clean. Unfortunately they have no daily room-cleaning on their schedule, only the towels were checked daily, but otherwise the room was not made up. It seems they are not used to have guests more than one night. The breakfast costs an extra 7 € pp, but had a very limited choice for that price (only sliced bread and croissants). Only one choice of cheese, of the industrial cheap type. The ham seems to be of the artificial type. The Orangejuice and the Applecuice were dilluted and with added sugar. So my recommendation for the management is to go the extra mile and try to deliver the very best possible, not the cheapest possible. Then this place would be truly exceptional.

The location is very near the cave site with walking distance. Apartment is very nice. But, The staff did not help us to carry the luggages which the room is on third floor.
