Lovely stay”

We stayed at the hotel with my partner's family to celebrate our wedding. The hotel staff were very polite and friendly, nice cocktails, lovely pool.

A very enjoyable stay but having booked half board we were surprised to discover that there was only a £30 allowance per person towards the cost of dinner. We considered the restaurant to be expensive.

Fantastic hotel with incredible facilities, and a great breakfast. We are frequent visitors to Bath , normally staying in the crescent , but this hotel surpasses them . The beds were really comfy too . The only disappointing thing for us was , after running the marathon, we were led to believe we would be given access to the spa facilities to soak muscles , in fact on returning from the run, we were only allowed to use the shower , a little disappointing, after a very enjoyable stay . Will definitely be coming to this hotel again . Yeh best hotel in bath I believe ! And we’ve stayed in many .

Hotel is beautiful- however in need of some maintenance as rooms/bathrooms felt a bit dated as well as the changing room/showers in the spa centre. Definitely didn’t feel like a 5 star hotel but rather 4 star.

Lovely stay for Boxing Day ”

This is a very comfortable and friendly hotel. The room was lovely and clean. I had made a mistake and double booked the rooms and was give a refund which I very much appreciate. My only issue was that the spa changing room needs an update as the grouting in the showers was yucky. The outside pool also needs an update. However, I would very much recommend this hotel.

We had excellent value for money, top quality hotel, excellent facilities. Be aware of the service charge!! Spa facilities excellent, more attention needs to be paid to cleanliness of tap in hot spa pool outside, residue on underside of 'tap'. Sauna floor needs be cleaner. Gardens stunning.Bedroom comfortable and very clean. Breakfast was good, service at breakfast needs to be sharpened up, had to ask 3 times for coffee and twice for boiled eggs. We would stay again and recommend to others.

Great hotel ”

Friendly staff beautiful hotel but our room was a little shabby . 2 wardrobe would not close properly and the hinges were about to fall off . The bathroom had some mould and i don't think the bath was cleaned properly as there was 3 hairs and a layer of scum in it . It was cleaned after we complained .. but the rest of the hotel was excellent. Room 111 needs some work !!

Set in a lovely location however watch out when you get there and they slap a £15 a day!! Parking charge on you... they keep that very quiet

Former grandeur with the grand piano is gone!!!”

We stayed at the hotel 12 years ago and it was amazing from the location, interior, staff, guest, food and grand piano. The past years the hotel is little better than a conference hotel in Slough. The Mac Donald group now seem more interesting in pure profit rather than guest experience. The marketing of the hotel and price doesn’t not reflect the guest experience. The breakfast was poor at best, no maned bar, over crowded spa with 25 less than active Parcipants in water aerobics, no help with bags when checking in, the checkin is 3.30 and they hassle you at 9 am on check out day. In check out they try and stiff you for £15 a day parking ( this is not the mandarin oriental in Hyde park). The room was very nice as we were upgraded to a garden view with balcony BUT the f@@@ing coach parked out side the window constantly. The dinning room is aweful an mix of brown velour and green carpet. The terrace area with converator is stylish but again no staff to order from. Disappointing

Exceeded expectations ”

There was a member of our group with severe allergies and the hotel went over and above to accomodate. Extremely professional, quite rooms, fantastic beds. Great food choice. Parts of the spa need a little tlc and the rooms can get warm on a hot day. Amazing relaxing stay.

NOT 5 Star! It’s a scam hotel- Claims AA 5 STAR but not according to AA ”

This is NOT a 5 star hotel. It’s beaten up, tired and staff seem to be giving up. Clear sign of poor leadership. The deluxe garden view room was very substandard with mouldy doors and broken taty furniture. Honestly I have stayed in more charming 3 stars. The toilet seat was filthy and tea stains down the bedside cabinet. Needless to say we complained straight away at reception showing them the pictures. They apologised and gave us a “refurbished room” and sent a bottle of Prosecco. Which helped but firsts impression last. The spa area was terrible. It needs cleaning. The bottom of the pool had debris of the degrading building and dead bugs that was not cleared in the 3 days we stayed. A piece of rolled up tissue on the side of the outdoors pool looked like it had been there for weeks and remained there everyday we went. Again dub 5 star in fact il go as far as to say there are a number of safety issues here (from a H & S Professional position). The staff seem fed up.

Surcharges and charges seemed unnecessary. Spa good but hotel a bit shabby in areas. ”

Decor a bit tired looking in places, a horrible smell on the second floor. Spa good. Bed comfortable. Surcharges for breakfast and charges for parking seemed a bit unfair. All a bit Easy Jet.

Very expensive, staff very poor”

Staff really unhelpful, and did not provide us with any really helpful information. lots of addational costs you are not told about. Service really slow from the bar. Bar food was terrible and very over priced. Would never return to this hotel.

Beautiful Hotel”

Beautiful Hotel had a lovely relaxing stay we really enjoyed it and the spa is amazing. The gardens are beautiful too especially on a hot day. We are so looking forward to coming back.

I’ve been here a few times, pretty much everything is amazing, small issue checking in this time, couple of other things, didn’t ruin the stay!

Mixed feelings”

We were looking for a charming country hotel. The MacDonald Bath Spa Hotel looked the part and whilst the staff were courteous and amenities fair the place lacked warmth and genuine friendliness. We had an evening meal in the restaurant and whist the food was nice the ambiance was cold and old school. Was not helped by the pianist playing solemn & dull music (was almost like being at a funeral). Again whilst staff were courteous it all felt impersonal. Coupled with the high cost of the room really not a place we’d recommend
