The staff were indifferent to us as we explained we booked this for a treat as we have low income we hoped it would be special. They moved us from urine stained bed to a down graded room. This had days old flem spit on wall by bed. This total lack of hygiene was throughout the stair well. It's disgusting. And staff have no customer service at all. Would never stay there ever. Disgusted

We had a lovely welcome left our bags in the morning and returned later that evening after a day shopping and a lovely meal out will definitely like to return.

Old matress, broken shower and cleanliness not up to scratch”

Receptionist was very friendly and helpful and the lobby is lovely... that’s where the good news ends... The room wasn’t particularly clean (particularly the bathroom) and the bed very poorly made. The sockets are mainly situated above the desk and are too close to the counter to actually fit a plug in. The shower head was spraying water from the back (we tried tightening it but it was broken rather than loose) The hairdryer didn’t work. The mattress was obviously very old, full of lumps and a huge ditch in the middle. All in all, we were extremely disappointed. Would have been just as well staying at the Travelodge

Great hotel,but lift kept us awake with noise and air-conditioning very noisy. Late night bar staff lacking basic skills. Bar prices very high for the area.

Good location, but room for improvement”

We visited earlier this year and really enjoyed our stay. This time round we were a bit disappointed. On arrival, we knew we were early. However, as with the other hotel companies we were staying with along our 2 week trip and had arrived early we were hoping for the option of the receptionist checking availability in the system and/or with Housekeeping to help. Instead we were told checkin was at 3pm. We were aware of this, but as Housekeeping staff are there from early morning and people have been checking out all day there is usually some flexibility. When we asked if something could be ready before 3pm if we went out for lunch and came back in an hour or so we were assisted, but would be nice if reception could have offered this or some options. The lift display was broken on the first day, but fixed by second. One of the bathroom lights wasn't working throughout our stay and it seems the extractor fan wasn't working either. The room didn't have A/C but a fan was provided.

Not as advertised, air con not working, unclean areas and unhelpful staff. ”

No parking as room details suggest, so had to park in John Lewis car park and walk over -room air con didn’t work (8 months pregnant on one of the hottest weekends) mentioned to staff who just said sorry. Staff ignored us when ringing the entry bell from carpark entry - we had to wait to be let In by leaving guests to walk up to reception where 3 staff were and we could hear the bell still ringing - all ignored it - and then gave us no information about stay. Restaurant seats caked with grime and old food that hasn’t been cleaned. Wouldn’t stay again and definitely wasn’t worth the money.

Comfy room”

The room was comfortable as was the bed. The only thing I can say bad about the bedding was that the pillows are very small, though there are two per person, one firm and one soft. Our room was surprisingly quiet for a city centre hotel. All the staff we met were friendly and efficient. Be aware that the car park will cost you £28 if you are staying for two nights, this gives you up to 48 hours parking. In fact it's the reason I've given value for money only 4 stars and not 5. I do understand it not being included in the price of the room, as those arriving by public transport would lose out, but the price could be more prominent in the pricing menu on the website.

Great location ”

Location brilliant. Price of room good value for money but the bar food leaves a lot to be desired and at £8 for a panini is very expensive along with nearly £9 for a pint and a soft drink we went somewhere else for both nights. Parking is on par for £14 for 24 hours but we had a football match else where in the morning so lost a majority of our ticket price, for hotel guests should be able to pay when leaving would be better value rather than pay up front.

This is our sixth time staying at this hotel due to the convenient location and car park. When we first used the lift to our floor I noticed and commented to my husband that the mirrors we dirty and there were marks on the wall of the lift that when I ran my hand over them came off so no excuse just not cleaned properly. We got to our room where the windows had been left open and it was now 7pm and so the room was freezing. The heater was hanging on the wall with just one screw and my husband commented how there was a chunk missing out of the head board. Although we had the room relatively reasonable due to the time of the year it has put us off booking again

Fantastic location in centre of city. Clean comfortable room and surprisingly quiet considering location. Didn’t get chance to same breakfast so can’t comment but would stay here again and recommend to family and friends.

Staff were helpful and very good; the hotel needs an upgrade”

The location of the hotel is absolutely perfect for being around central Cardiff. It has clearly been there for a long time and it is in dire need of refurbishment. The staff were good and I think they were the best thing about the hotel.
