Metropole ”
The hotel is well located on the front. So that was OK. As for my room? Originally the view was awful. I was looking at the interior of the building which looked shabby so I asked for a different room. Which came at no extra cost so that was OK. They mentioned that if I wanted a view of the sea then that would be an extra five pounds. But I took a room overlooking the street at the front. Room was OK. Wasn't to happy about the shower has it had dried blood on the inside of the glass. Windows of the room were really dirty. And the hotel did smell damp. But it wasn't hell on earth! Just some where to stay for the night.
overnight stay”
we had a good room on the side of the hotel ,it was not noisy we had a room only "the hotel is in a great position we will go again hope this helps plenty to eat drink close by .
Loud drunken fellow guests. Dirty rooms and smelly. ”
Pro location
A pleasant stay”
Having read the many reviews of the hotel, mostly negative, I found that it is still worth staying, especially I've chosen half-boarded for three nights only at 40 per night. Food is alright and no complaint at all. The reviews are true, my room was facing the tramway and main road, first floor, trams plus traffic noise is a problem but fortunate enough, after 11:30, the noise dies down and I can still have a good sleep until after 7:00 for the first two nights. Friday evening is poor as the drinkers of the pub opposite the road making loud noise that disturbing others.
Aceitável”
First arrived to a full car park where literally you where blocking people in as there was a themed weekend in the hotel which we where not informed about . We then had to park our car dangerously in the car park which I found strange as you are staying in the hotel . We then got our keys to our rooms which where in the lower ground floor which I can only describe as work in progress as we where in a basement annexe where the kitchen stored there food and access to kitchen and I can only describe the area as a building site walls filled with plaster and the strong smell of mastic . We then got into the room had no phone signal or any wifi access and the bathroom shower door did not shut properly so when you used the shower water flooded on the floor you then had to use the few towels that they gave you to mop the water up . They never replaced any towels the whole time we where there so we luckily use ours that we took . My friends room was not any better . We where very disappointe
Good hotel. Need more plug sockets and a phone in the room. Better repairs needed.”
The front is scruffy with ciggie butts and drunk scum trying to get into our room at 1am. The lower G levels stink as you resend the stairs. .. Staff really nice and friendly and food was good. Location great. Could do with money spending on repairs and upgrade in cleanliness.
Fantastic spot, car parking not guaranteed”
Dated old rooms but excellent location
Cheep & Cherfull”
The location is virtually opposite the tower so its a 5 star for that, the rooms well let's say faulty towers. the was very small and you had no chance of seeing out of the windows due to the muck on them. I upgraded our room to the "Nelson Suite" and to be fair for £55 per night it was good, four poster bed, jacuzzi bath, kitchen area with a microwave and ironing facilities & a lounge area but still couldn't see out of the windows due to the muck on them! The staff were very nice and couldn't do enough for you but you could see the frustration as they knew the hotel was run down but there was not much they do. I would return to the Metropole as even though the hotel was run down, the room I ended up with was worth all the money I paid (paid three times the amount for a similar room in wales) and the staff were trying there best with what they have got. On a positive note as we were leaving they had teams both inside and out improving the appearance
Great location, good basic hotel with friendly helpful staff. ”
Like most Brittania hotels I have stayed in it could do with a major refurbishment instead of constant patching up. That said it is always clean, the staff are really helpfull and is a great location. A good value for money hotel.
Another Great stay”
Had 2 days been loads of time this year alone we joke with the staff about "our" room which they always try to accommodate us in. Yes the place is dated and does need some renovations but the beds towels rooms etc are clean comfortable and warm. Thanks again Grand Metropol for a great stay
really pleasant stay ”
We enjoyed our one night stay, it was a trial run really but we shall be back again for the illuminations no doubt with the grandchildren in tow. Metropole Hotel may be an old dinosaur but it has the style and charm plus thick walls only older building possess. Yes it will not be our last stay!!
Budget Hotel with great staff.”
There were quite a few of us in the group staying here and we all found the staff very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The great thing about these old buildings is there was no noise through the walls unlike some newer hotels where the walls are very thin. I would say it was great value for money. We were very lucky and had a great view down the promenade and the Tower, pier and sea.
lovely stay brilliant location”
had a really lovely time, close to all ammenties. right next to beach and all nightlife. good for kids an adults and pensioners everyone is welcome and will have a good time. the room was really lovely had a hairdryer an everything else you would need. we had a problem with our tv but we were moved to another room with a working tv, although our new room didnt have a bath an we had just ran one it wasnt a problem as the staff were very helpful in helping us move and making sure we were happy. the people were very friendly and we had a lovely stay.
Great Location next to North pier”
breakfast great except for the 'sausage' - nice crispy skins containing a load of disgusting mush. glad we were only on b & b as the 'half-boarders' were served their evening meal at 5pm and the dining room closed at 6pm prompt! way too early for the majority of people.
Disappointing”
We booked the Metropole for its excellent location and hopefully quality of its accommodation. First impressions were good lifts worked corridors to the rooms looked newly decorated and nice clean carpets , however on entering our allocated room we found that the standard double room we had booked was actually a single room with a three quarter mattress and as you can imagine very cramped my partner was squashed up against the wall, not wishing to complain we made the most of it, then on top of that we were faced with plumbing issues as our room and adjoining rooms were only served by electric macerator pumps the noise from which was unacceptable, worst night i have ever spent in a hotel. So very sad as this hotel has endless potential.
Basic but not to bad ”
First room given was dirty plus looked into a brick wall , we asked to be moved they moved us no problem the second room was much better and clean second room is ideal for the price we paid it’s located at north peir so not far from anything such as Blackpool tower. We paid £70 Odd for two nights and car parking was £3 per 24 hours which was not to bad. Would maybe stay there again as long as we didn’t get put in a bad room.
Incrível”
Clean room, comfy bed, hot water, hot shower, heating, excellent help yourself breakfast. Great location, and on-site car park (payable).
Weekend stay”
Great location and the staff was very helpful, Cons, no Internet in the rooms and had to pay for the parking. But I will be back for sure.
Not as expected ”
Upon arriving at the Metropole we were met by a tired looking terrace the main entrance doors looked dirty and not great. On checking in it appeared that you were then on your own the carpeting in the main walkway and stairs looked like it needed a good clean. Upon finding and entering our room we were shocked to discover how small the room was, it did have a sea view but the corner of the room was missing, something not shown in any of the photos viewed before selecting the Metropole, I have stayed in lots of accommodation over the years but this was very poor, their were water mark stains on the walls (presumably from a previous leak?) the windows were filthy inside and out there was a sweet and some chewing gum on the outside window sill. My wife went to sit down at the dressing/table and found it not possible to pull the chair out completely as it was stopped by the overly sized chest of drawers behind it. I could go on.......Very Very disappointing.
Room was not acceptable asked for different. Staff couldn’t be more helpful went out of their way t”
Second room very nice lounge area. Decor could do with a paint but otherwise good staff excellent. Bed comfortable Breakfast had a wide variety. Could ask for different if told previous. Would I go back here? Probably but. Dnt expect 5* more 3* excellent location practical for everything. The tram stop was just outside shops walking distance. Mobility scooter could be hired from reception
