Pros - Great central location, clean and tidy with comfortable bed. Cons - parking is located in the nearby NCP car park and although it’s discounted from £25 per day down to £16 it’s still a extra cost you may not be aware of when booking.

In the centre of Cardiff walking distance to major attractions. Helpful staff, clean hotel. Unusual entrance lots of hallways. Had a great reasonable priced breakfast with plenty to eat and drink encouraged to take fruit or biscuits on your way out for the day

Overnight stay”

This is a beautiful hotel with character. Friendly & helpful staff. Very clean & very quiet even though it is situated in the busy city centre. I booked it as my sister & i were visiting the Motorpoint Arena to watch UB40. I wasnt really sure what to expect, however we were very pleasantly surprized. I would definately recommend this hotel & i will be using it everytime when i go to a show in future.

NCP”

OK central hotel, but don't come by car. It is completely impossible to park near the hotel, even for five minutes to unload.. You have to park in an expensive NCP car park overnight, and carry your bags several blocks to the hotel.

Great location, v nice room”

Located close to Cardiff Central train station and some car rental agencies so its convenient to travel around Wales or back to London. 5 min walk to halal eateries at Caroline St. 5 min walk to starbucks at the nearby shopping arcade. Supermarket nearby too. Front of hotel opens to a pedestrian walking street, back opens to a road where u can tk a bus or walk across to a pretty big supermarket and a bit further to Cardiff Central stn. Walking distance to Cardiff Castle too. Lift to room. spacious room, really nice modern furnishing, bathtub included. Clean and comfortable bed. Kettle, coffee and tea provided.

Location, Comfortable Rooms”

Location of the hotel was right in the middle of town. Room was newly renovated and very comfortable bed. A lot of option for food and bar around. However, only stayed a night here. Wasn't able to explore more areas around the vicinity. Would love to come back here again. Parking is not at the hotel. Gotta park at a nearby parking facilities within 5 mins walk.

Perfect location”

5minute walk from the train station. Hotel is in the centre of the city close to bars, coffee shops and convenience stores. Professional staff, easy check in. Double room in good condition and tastefully decorated - big plasma tv. Comfortable bed. Modern clean bathroom. Wifi was adequate not fast. Noise from nightclubs on street below wasn't too bad, dull low noise. Noise from other rooms was more pronouced e.g. couple next door to me had a massive arguement and started throwing things - thankfully they left the room before midnight when i go to bed. Got room for good price and location was great - would use again.

Located on St Mary's that leads on to the High Street. Short walk from Cardiff Central. Very good location. Old building. Love the floor boards in the rooms. Helpful staff. Check in was a breeze. Quirky old building....need to takes steps up from Street, then down steps half a floor to get onto lift up to 2nd level where the reception is located.

Nice rooms, friendly staff”

Hotel is fine - but as it was rosed "so much" I expected more for this category. The building deserves better maintenance - mainly outside facade and bathrooms (running flush in wc, defected sink, etc.). Despite several lamps/ lights the room is a bit dark; it is a large building, sometimes you feel like in a labyrinth. But the whole impression is positive as staff was very helpfull and friendly.

Good Location and Value For Money”

This hotel is located at the city center, nearer to the central railway station. Very calm and quite surroundings, friendly staffs...but food standard of the restaurant is not up to the mark. I found this a very convenient for any traveler who wants to explore Cardiff. You will find all the restaurants, shopping malls around, and the city tour bus stop is also nearer.

Relaxation and shopping”

The stay at Royal Cardiff was excellent,the rooms are clean and the staff is friendly and attentive.The Hotel is centrally located the shoppings is just right at the doorstep moreover the Cardiff castle is just about half a kilometres away.The central market was great and the shopping center was huge and u canvirtually spend half a day shopping and eating your lunch or dinner there.

Centrally located hotel about a 3 minute walk from the main Cardiff train station . The checkin staff were friendly and helpfull , pointing out various attractions on a complimentary city map. The room was a good size and clean.The bed was very comfortable . I'll be staying here again on my next visit to Cardiff.

Nice hotel in center of town”

Have stayed in this hotel twice now and consider it my best place to stay when in town. Rooms are a good size with comfortble beds and the location 3 mins walk from the train station cannot be beaten as there are many restaurants/bars in close vacinity as well as being near several sightseeing attractions.Did not eat at this hotel so cannot comment on the food here.

Royal Hotel - Cardiff”

Stayed here for 2 nights. Its located a 3 min walk from the train station and right in the center of town. Didnt eat in the restaurant as there were so many good places to eat nearby. Staff there were really friendly and helpfull providing information on how to get around town and nearby attractions. Room was very clean and tidy and the bed was comfortable. Stayed here twice now and will be returning here on my next visit.

Stayed for a night as we were Christmas shopping and then going out for a meal.1st time stay, have stayed in several hotels in Cardiff from the Hilton to Travelodge and this was by far the best.Staff were helpful and friendly.Room big, comfortable and clean.Breakfast was faultless.Thank you and we will definatly stay again.

Perfect hotel for a city trip”

All in all everything was really good at the hotel. The only advice for the hotel: If guest have to leave really early in the morning (before breakfeast, starting at 7.00 a.m.), it woul be great if the hotel could provide at least another small room to eat breakfast / breakfast box. We had to eat in front of the reception (had still 30 min left before our bus departure) and we felt not that comfortable to eat in front of the reception area.

I thoroughly enjoyed my four day stay. The staff were very welcoming and helpful, my room was very comfortable, and the hotel itself was centrally located and convenient to transport. Have already recommended it.

A lot of stairs up to reception. There was a lift but it was as a different location to the stairs and main sign for the hotel. Rooms were great. Even has aircon which was great given that it was 30 degrees outside and our rooms were at the top of the building

Perfect for an overnight stay”

We really like this hotel, we were a bit worried about how central it was after we saw how many pubs and bars were around. However despit it being so busy late at night we didn’t hear any noise. We would stay here again!
