I agree with one of the review describing the room like a hobbit room. I booked the room last minute online from Agoda and get the best deal, $137 per night. Glad that I decide to stay only 1 night. This is not even close the best stay (after 3weeks spend in a different accommodation) I had for my winter holiday. The Standard Room are shocking! Extremely small. I am a small lady but still think the room size are ridiculous. If they keep the price below $130 I would say it is value for money but still not the best choice in Lake Tekapo. Please note, theres no microwave in the Standard Room. Room are spotless clean. Free WiFi but it is only 250MB. I know it is ridiculous. I stayed in a different accommodation 3 weeks before i stay here and this is the most ridiculous stupid free WiFi. The shabby looking motel has better room than this place. If you plan to book the Standard Room, I strongly advice don’t waste your money unless if you care about class and instagram showing off picture staying in luxury accommodation. By the way the housekeeping staff that I exchange a greeting was a real sweet guy :)

Excellent location. We stayed in the motel, essentially a studio unit with cooking facilities overlooking the mountains. Unit was well equipped and clean. Food in the lodge is limited to Bar and Grill so best to prepare prior to coming if you wanna DIY rather than eating bar food, waiting times can be long for dinner. We did the afternoon walk in Hooker Valley to the glacier lake, long but sceneries is just priceless. And also the star gazing tour at night: money worth spending, guides were friendly and knowledgeable. Mount Cook was the climax of our short one week adventure in the South islands!

Just a wk before travel, I got an email stating my booking was cancelled. It was very shocking as I recieved it first thing in the morn. Not sure y it was cancelled, hotel rep said that I didnt send him my booking confirmation but I've checked my email trace and it was there. Nonetheless, there was no point in arguing who's in the right. So, pls remember to email them your booking confirmation if you have booked from any other 3rd party website. Other then that, it was a pleasant stay. Room was clean, spacious and nice view. one of the few accomodations i stayed with good kitchen equipment. There's free wifi but intermittent reception, perhaps due to the location. Gd location, as its a 5mins short drive up to hermitage hotel for the activities or u can walk up. Try asking for unblocked mountain view if you booked early, or rooms which are all the way at the back.

We booked the whole apartment option and the house was fantastic. The cookery and beddings were all good. But I still have to point out a few things to improve: 1. At this price range, complimentary wifi with 2 GB bandwidth limit seems a bit penny-pinching. 2. The under-stove oven worked fine but as we preheated it the foul odor from previous cooking fumed the whole living room. I think they should ask the clients while checking out whether they use the oven and arrange cleaning accordingly. 3. The dish washer was absolutely helpful and yet the complimentary cleaner fluid/powder only came with 2 use per stay I suppose. If frequent cooking is to be expected, be careful with the dishes. Despite several things stated above, we all quite enjoyed the stay at the Mantra Lake Tekapo Hotel. I was able to enjoy the starry night with a glass of wine in the backyard, which is a fantastic experience you should definitely try. Cheers!

Fantastic apartment that is comparable or even better than most 3-4 stars hotels. Conveniently located in the city although not at the most centralised location. However, the cleanliness of the place, facilities available (toiletries, hairdryers, kitchenette etc), Scandinavian decor and helpful staff more than make up for the slightly less centralised location. Plus, the price is great too! There is no breakfast although the owners help by recommending certain local eateries (within 5 min radius and opens as early as 630am) in their guide book. I also understand that they are working to incorporate this service in the future.

My husband and I both agree this is the best holiday/ caravan park we have ever stayed at. Other than our stay in Milford Sound, our stay at Lake Tekapo was our favourite during our travels in the South Island. The studio room was clean, good size & what a beautiful view of the water! Close walk to the hot spring & we loved the ducks on the grass out the front. We will be back !!

Our flight got delayed so we had to spend a night at the airport. We booked a last minute room as it is nearby the airport and the rooms are cheap. Upon arrival, checking in is very easy and fast. Staff assisted us efficiently too. The room is very clean and spacious. Plenty of space to lay out 3 luggages. Beds are comfy and clean too. Same goes for the toilet. Kitchen facility is great. The kitchen / lounge are is very very spacious and clean. We could whip up dinner quickly with no issue as all items needed are easily available. Parking fee is slightly heavy at $15/night. We ended up returning the car at the airport and then walking back to Jucy, which is about 15 mins walk. They provide shuttle service to the airport for the next morning which is very easy for us.

Wife and I stayed three nights to take in a super rugby game and renew acquaintances with the Canterbury district. This hotel is close to Highway 1 and not far from restaurants, the main shopping maul, Antarctic centre and downtown attractions. We would much rather stay here than in the city which is a sad place and along way from recovering from the tragedy of the quake. Happy to recommend the Commodore.

I stayed here because of an overnight layover, and picked this hotel because it is less than a five-minute walk to the airport. It is also next door to the Antarctic Research Centre. I got off the plane at 2:45, walked to the hotel, checked in, went to the room, and still had two hours to spend looking at penguins, etc. Dinner options are limited if you are on foot. There is a McDonald's down the road, or you could go to the airport. The restaurant in the hotel is your best bet though. I was initially annoyed to have to go there, or else schlep to McDonald's, but after the fact, I think I had one of the best meals I've ever had there. The venison was perfectly cooked and had a lovely juniper berry sauce. For dessert, I ordered a rhubarb-plum crumble that was almost as sublime as the venison. For both dishes, the flavors were complex, and plating and presentation was outstanding. You may think if you stay at this hotel you will have to go into downtown Christchurch for a good meal, but really, the meals I've had at hotel restaurants around Cathedral Square were not as good and much more expensive. The room was average-sized. The furnishings were somewhat above average, but not amazing, though the bed was comfortable. There was a fridge in the room with a wide range of complimentary teas, coffee, and hot chocolate mixes, but no alcoholic drinks. The toiletries were good quality. The room was quiet, despite being next to an airport. The hotel is currently (July 2015) under renovation. The front entrance is through a bright orange shipping container, which is quite off-putting. Some of the carpeting in the hallways was quite worn. To get to the elevator to my room, I had to go through the bar, the restaurant, and by the laundry room, which was open and had racks of sheets and towels out in the hallway. Another big negative was that you have to pay for Internet access. Not all travellers are on business expense accounts.

We enjoyed our stay, the location was great very near the fast food and we had a great surprise when we enter the accommodation.....they gave us a gift for selecting them and the best of all when we enter the room we saw that we can cook, that they have stove, fridge, oven, even microwave., that was above our expectation, so we spend less on eating out.. The management were very nice giving us more internet vouchers to use. At night, it was well lit outside the accommodation, enough parking facility and laundry facility. We'll come back again next time we'll be in your area.

It was very tidy and helpful. however the reception for the hotel through the restaurant was very displeasing walking through the bar and restaurant with nags to get to the reception and room. Also the special requests we booking was not adhere to. I requested for a shuttle to and from the hotel. The meal was absolutely beautiful 5 star on meal. Chowder was beautiful. However as friendly as the hosts for the tables was. He never checked in to make sure the meal was fine or checked on any refreshments common courtesy to check on customers would have been suffice. The overall experience I would have checked an easy 7. The main focus of disruption was the entry and service followed through during the meal.

We stayed here for one night prior to flying back to the UK (the day before the earthquake!) The hotel is very nice, but is a little too far from the centre for ease of walking, although the hotel does offer shuttle buses to/from the centre, places for which need to be booked in advance. We decided to stay in the hotel for dinner and the food was exceptionally good and our waitress couldn't have been more helpful. We hired bikes from the hotel and explored nearby North Hadley Park which was a lovely way to spend our last sunny morning prior to leaving. The only slight negative would be that our room, although booking a Deluxe room (a bit misleading as it seems that this means it is a standard room), was rather tired and could do with lightening up a bit with bright curtains and cover on the bed. The bathroom too was beginning to feel a little tired. However, the room was a good size and was quiet with everything you needed for a pleasant stay.I would certainly return to this hotel on my next visit to NZ.

Initially booked a room on the ground floor but we got a free upgrade to a room on the second level with Mountain View. The staff is very friendly and will greets you whenever you enter the lodge. We wanted to have dinner and she recommended us some places we can visit. The room is clean and cozy and we had a great view of the mountain. In addition, we also get to gaze at the stars from our room. The kitchen is also clean and we also love the guest lounge. This place is highly recommended.

Motel has a free shuttle from the airport as per your request (up to 2am), managed to also get a free shuttle to the airport on the next morning after checking out. Flight came in at 2300 at CHC (after office hours of the reception, however they do have a night porter which runs the place and facilitated our check-in) Staff were really friendly and helpful. They turned on heaters prior to check-in so the rooms were nice and warm for us :) Booked into 2x One-Bedroom Rooms and both had 1 Double Bed and 2 Single Beds! Much bigger and more spacious than expected. Bathrooms come equipped with hand soap, body soap, and hair shampoo. Overall really satisfied with the stay. Highly recommend this place, especially if you're transiting for a long period or waiting for a flight out of Christchurch Airport.

This hotel was rebuilt after the earthquake. I am like soooooo happy to see the manager who checked us in. He was very friendly and smiling and whilst there were some who were not he made up for that. The rooms were ultra modern with an artistic feel which was great. Gym was great. Lobby was too small resulting in overcrowding at times. It's heartbreaking to actually watch the once majestic cathedral being damaged but the spirits of the people were superb. People of Canterbury and at Novotel made us realise the resilience of human beings and thank you

Might overshot the place but driving in New Zealand town is within 30-50 so can find it with ease. They do have rice cooker and all the appliances plus cutleries. Our house do not include the skylight whereby you can open and view the stars which is disappointment. It has a small patio but we cant simply view the stars from outside as it very cold. Most of toiletries are included except toothbrus and tooth paste but we brought along our own shower gel, shampoos and conditioner. It is situated near the Church of shepherd. Short drive to a small town. Heater in first room not that good as unable to cover lower part of body but can use the thick blanket for cover. Rate is not cheap and the view from living room to Lake Tekapo with the snow mountain is stunning. You can view from the tv with youtube and it comes with a Google to on the music. Place is clean though.

Overall, our stay at Tailr Made Tekapo was excellent. Richard was very friendly and helpful when we checked in. He gave us a map of the area and pointed out some of the more popular things to do. He also provided us passwords for 500 MB of wi-fi each. Before giving us our key he gave us a quick tour of the facilities and made sure all our questions were answered. The room was small but comfortable. There was a heater in the room that kept us toasty warm throughout the night. There was also a hot water bottle in the closest that we could have used if we so desired. The bed was slightly saggy but was still comfortable. Showers and toilets were communal and were located just down the hall from our room. They were clean and we had no complaints. At no point did we see any lines waiting for showers, even though the hostel seemed to be quite busy. The kitchen was located just across the parking lot from our room. It was very well supplied and we were able to cook both our dinner and breakfast quite easily. Just off the kitchen is a common area to hang out, read, surf the web, etc. Our only complaint was the fact that the entire facility has seen better years. We had to be careful or the handle would come off our door when we tried to pull it shut. In the morning we could hear everyone getting up in the rooms next to ours and could hear every footstep and every door close in the hall. We were getting on our way early so we didn't necessarily lose sleep over it, but we would have if we were trying to sleep in. Our visit at Tailor Made Tekapo was a pleasant one and, thanks to their affordable prices, we would probably stay again in the future.

Owner and all the staffs are very kind and helpful. Room was just PERFECT, clean and tidy. All the gadgets and kitchen tools were placed well. We didn't know owner is korean when we booked here. we were surprised. He explained everything about NZ when we asked him to do. cuz we didn't plan our trip much. After check-in we started plan ours with pamplets and maps he gave. and the list of shops and restaurant in CHC was very helpful too. after the long journey of ours, we felt finally has arrived at our another home from far east asia. 한국분이 운영하시는 모텔인 줄 모르고 갔다가 과하지않은 적당한 친절함과 깨끗한 방 컨디션에 아주 만족한 스테이였습니다. 버스로 이동하여 도착했습니다. 정류장에서 가까워 편했고, 렌터카 사무실이 가까워 차를 렌트하러 갈때도 편리했습니다. 오랜 여행의 중간 지점이었는데 마음 편히 쉴 수 있었습니다. 추천이요

It's a good motel - the room we got was priced comparably to other hotels in the area, but the size of the room was a lot bigger so it was really easy to make yourself feel at home. The kitchen has everything you'd need, the bathrooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. The best part of the hotel is probably its location - walking distance from the downtown part of Akaroa, or also the shared facilities like the pool table, giant connect 4, piano, or water front seats. They also have a BBQ that's available to borrow so you can cook and eat outside if you'd prefer. Probably the downside was that inside the rooms isnt very modern - it doesnt affect what you can do or the comfort of the room but it could be better with some updated décor

I found the hotel to be very comfortable and modern. It is located in the heart of town which makes it perfect for business or just to enjoy Christchurch City Center as everything is within walking distance. The only two qualms I have are that parking must be paid separately, and internet usage fees are handled in a strange manner. You are entitled to 3 hours for free, but they must be consumed at once, and you cannot stagger your usage. After that, there is a charge applied. Other than that, the staff was fantastic and the hotel it self is very warm, comfortable and modern. As far as bang for your buck, its the best. Great Hotel.

Excellent service from staff Chloe from the front desk. She assisted in booking my tours and was so helpful and patient in teaching me the Christchurch city map. She patiently answered all our enquiries. Room was clean and they were generous with the complimentary cookie, chocolates, milk, tea and coffee. Bed was super comfortable, big tv screen, and with good toiletries. Excellent location right at the smack in the city, good for first comers. Nothing bad to say except for a lady, i think her name was Angela, a staff at the entrance desk. She looked very grouchy with a frown on her face, I smiled at her and asked her a question. She just pointed out without replying a word, I found her rude and unfriendly otherwise all staffs were friendly but my special heartfelt thanks to Chloe.

We spent the first two nights of our honeymoon here and it couldn't have been more perfect. Welcoming, friendly and helpful hosts, a well appointed room with gorgeous decor and lovely modern ensuite, fantastic breakfast in the lovely lounge and perfect location to explore Christchurch, only 200 metres from botanic gardens and Canterbury museum. I cannot recommend enough, especially for solo travelers or couples who like a little luxury for a good price.

We absolutely loved the Lake Tekapo Cottages. We stayed in the Little Birch cottage. It was modern with all amenities we could ask for - kitchenware, dishwasher, washer/dryer, heater, etc. It was so comfortable and by far the best place we stayed at out of 8 different places on our entire NZ trip. We also liked that it was very near the lake, church, and town - everything within walking distance. Awesome! Wish we had booked more time there but will be back!
