We had seen this hotel and initially planned just to visit it during our stay but thankfully we decided to splash out and book a room here and we were so glad we did. You only need one night here to fully appreciate it and it is so much fun. There are lovely gardens to walk around, a revolving coffee car at the top and the ship plays a chime every morning 20 minutes before sunrise so you can get up and watch the magnificent sunrise in the sculpture park. the hotel is up quite a big hill from the town so you are best to take everything you need and just stay here for you stay. There is a small supermarket in the hotel and bakery and there is stove in your room so we had a very enjoyable home cooked spagetti dinner to save on our budget. Some reviews mention that it is hard to get to the Suncruise without your own transport, we managed fine. We arrived from Samcheok via the seaside train (booked by tourist info booth in Samcheok), took a taxi to the Suncruise from the train station (W4,000) and then took the bus which goes from the car park in front of the Suncruise to Gangneung Express and Intercity bus stations (40 mins W2,000) for our onward bus to Daegu. This hotel is just fantastic, we loved every second of the novelty of being in a ship on land, we booked a garden view room which had no balcony, but it was at the very front of the ship with a magnificent sea, garden and sunrise view. It is expensive but well worth the price if you enjoy novelty hotels like we do.

The service that the hotel provided was more than awesome! We missed our lunch and the hotel allowed to have coffee after the breakfast time was over. This kindness and service deserve the best mark. I will definitely stay with this listening every time I'm in Sokcho and I will definitely recommend this hotel to all my friends. Thank you for having us and making our trip remarkable

Pros: - The location is very nice. Not too far of a taxi ride from the station and close to the beach. - The room is still new and very clean. - The bed is nice and big. Cons: - The fridge wasn't that cold. - Asked the front desk for ice at 11pm and they said it was not available after 10pm and suggested buying it at a convenience store. (They did call the store for us to see if they still had ice. But I expected full service from a 5-star hotel.) - The view was okay. It was not a full ocean view but could still see it if from one angle in the room or when you went out to the balcony. - Accidentally left a couple of T-shirts in the room and called the evening that we checked out. A representative called the next day but said nothing was found. Overall: The hotel itself is big, new, and clean. The staff is friendly, but also slightly awkward perhaps due to lack of experience. Lastly, I expected better service from a 5-star hotel.

I’ve been to Ramada and it was great but Lotte is at another level. This place has the best hospitality to include free drinks (water, coke, sprite, water bottle, etc...) and Molton brown products. Tooth brush and everything else in the room are all free. The slippers are disposable, not those cheap reusable leather slippers. The towels are American size large shower towel. If you ask anything extra, they are all free and included. I highly recommend this place to people that want a large space, view, and great hospitality. I say this because I went to Yeosu and paid pretty much the same cost for a place called the Hidden Bay, and I felt like I downgraded big time...

I am very impressed witg Phoenix Park Ski resort. The hotel provides us all necessary kitchenware to prepare meals. Also, Customers has a variety of restaurant choices including Korean restaurant, KFC, Domino Pizza, and cofe benene. Plus, There is a supermarket in the resort area. The ondul condo is very clean and warm, you have to bring your own bathroom amenity such as toothbrush, shampoo, liquid soap etc. My best impression of my trip is Ms Kim, a receptionist staff on New Year Day. I left my bag and thought I lost it in the toilet at another building. I rushed to the condo and asked Ms Kim to help find the bag, she accompanied me back to the building , communicated with the staff, looked into the cctv with me and finally found the maid who help kept my bag with all my money and passport inside. She was so sweet and very much impressed me with her hospitality. I will definitely visit Korea and stay at the resort again.

Manager was friendly with good English, and breakfast buffet had a decent selection. The kids loved the 1 minute walk to the beach, and all the bathrooms had been nicely renovated. Unfortunately, the kitchen and rest of the rooms and hotel were in desperate need of some TLC, and there was no tea/coffee at buffet as there was a cafe in the lobby. Overall, good for the price.

My family and I vacationed here during our summer vacation. It was "Golden Week" in Korea so we ended up paying double the regular rate. So that's why I rated the value for money a 3 star. It is beautiful and very nice. Everything is modern and even the entrance is very grand. Our room had partial view, but it was perfect. We saw the harbor and the sea-green water. We had two beds in the room and each were large (definitely not single beds). The room and bathroom were very clean, as well. The water in the hotel is hot when first turned on. That was a surprise. If you don't plan to go out, you can go upstairs to the rooftop and have some drinks. The food menu wasn't vast, but the beer was unlimited. Also, the view from the rooftop is AMAZING. When you go out to the large terrace and look below, you can see the coral and sea-green water. I actually didn't know that mainland Korea had that color sea. If you want to leave the hotel, you need a car. Nothing is close by walking.

I was there to ski and was surprised that the hotel was not within walking distance to the ski place (like what the website claims to be). Nonetheless, there is a shuttle bringing us to and fro the ski house albeit a little inconvenient. The hotel is comparable to international 5 stars hotel. Staff were attentive, helpful and initiated. Though most of them could not speak English, they tried their best to understand us by clarifying and if they still were not able to understand us, they will seek their colleagues’ help to assist us. The housekeeping staff provided impeccable service as well. The chambermaids were all smiles and polite whenever we saw them along the corridors. What pleasantly surprised us was, the hotel has a pillow bank with 9 different types of pillows for guests to choose from. And these pillows are complimentary, at two per room. If I am not going there to ski, i will definitely stay in High 1 Grand Hotel again.

Location was good, between sea and Seoraksan. For a family with children the two playgrounds across the street were great. Hotel breakfast was ok with juice, coffee/tea, toast, butter, strawberry jam, smoked eggs and ramen. We ate dinner twice at Hanoi Star and once Korean BBQ in walking distance.The bed was very hard as mentioned before. The room was actually quite with dark curtains, but the water pipes of rooms around us were a bit noisy. The owner was nice and spoke good English.

1. Beautiful hotel overlooking Gyeongpo lake and at the back is Gyeongpo beach. 2. We got upgraded to 10th floor with beautiful lake view. 3. The international buffet dinner was very nice with good varieties. The dessert was excellent. 4. Distance by taxi to other attraction places just within 15 to 20 minutes. Highly recommended to stay in this hotel. This is one of the best hotels we had stayed so far.

I've been to this hotel twice. I chose it because it is a 5-star hotel for the price of a 3 or 4 star hotel. While it certainly isn't the most luxurious hotel around, it is quite clean and the room are spacious and convenient. The bathrooms are especially large and high quality, with fully automated controls for lights and the toilet/bidet. The view is not great on any side of the hotel, which is one major downside. Also, the TV screens are rather small. I have not tried the food, room service, or the business center, so I can't comment on those. But the hotel is very close to the beach, which is another main reason I chose it.

We are a family of 5 (2 adults & 3 children) that booked 2 family suites in late Dec. The hotel was well decorated to create a festive mood for Christmas. The rooms were clean with a beautiful view that overlooked the garden. The beds were very comfortable. It snowed heavily during our stay there and we had a great time taking photos and playing with the snow. They even had a small animal farm which delighted my kids. We especially want to thank IRENE LEE at the recep who went out of her way to book transport for us to go Yongpyong Ski Resort and other places, there was great follow-up to ensure our requests were carried through. Though taxi fare from Kensington to Yongpyong was about US$30 for a short 10-15 min ride, we got to stay in a hotel with beautiful and tranquil surrounding at good prices so it was well worth the stay. my wife and i enjoyed and love the stay at kensington stars hotel. the first impression, look like and feel like; we are in the 50's 60's, with the peaceful environment and great service of the hotel's staff made it perfect. the staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable; front desk staff, mr. ray provide us with important information for us to explore mt sorak and the surrounding, etc. but the 2 nights stays is not enough. we stayed the level 7; the display is great and unique. it is clean and well maintain. for the next trip to mt sorak, we will definitely book kensington stars hotel for 4 to 5 nights. we thanks the staff for their great service and god bless them.

Took a taxi from Gangneung KTX station to the hotel, which took 5min and cost us 4000won only. We booked a standard double room, and I immediately loved the room when I saw it - it was very tastefully but minimally decorated and felt very cosy. It was pretty spacious for 2pax, and they'd provided Aveda toiletries, which I was quite impressed by. Breakfast was equally simple but impressive. Don't really have any complaints about it, would love to come back again! :)

Stayed 3 nights at this hotel. To be honest, the corridor of the rooms is dark and I think the lightning in the room isn’t bright enough, but still manageable. You will have to walk up a small slope to reach the hotel from the bus stop and you will pass by a few night clubs along the way. Hence, as I traveling alone, I don’t really dare to go back to my hotel too late. So, it was also still managable. There is a huge range of TV channels to choose from. The bed is very comfy, the staff are also very helpful and friendly. However, I think that it is not necessary to book for the sea view, as I believe all the sea view will be blocked by a building in front (as mine was blocked) even though I stayed at quite a high floor. If you look straight, you will see the building, but left and right, you are still able to see the sea view. Overall, I had a great stay in this hotel.

As the hotel staff speaks very limited English, it took us a lot of time to get the free shuttle bus timetable between Yongpyong resort and Hoenggye bus station (close to AM hotel). The bus departs from Yongpyong resort (Blisshill, 1st Floor, bus parking lot) at 9, 10, 11, 13, 15, 16, 17, 18.20, 19.30, 20.30, 21.40, 22.40, 0.30, 0.50. The bus departs from Hoenggye (a post office, abt 10 min walking from AM hotel) at 5.20, 6.20, 7.20, 8, 8.30, 9.40, 10.20, 12, 14, 15.30, 16.20, 17.40, 18.50, 20, 21, 23.30.

the room was clean and the hotel lobby and area was decorated for the Christmas holidays! but the problem was the bathroom! we checked in late at night so I didnt notice the state of the bathroom til late. Part of the ceiling was left fully open, hot water took about 10 minutes to come out and after that I took a quick 5 minute shower because the whole bathroom floor was flooding as it seemed the drain was clogged. Our stay wiuld have been great if not for the bathroom.

Thought this hotel was part of High1 on the other side of the mountain and not in Kangwon Land Casino, turned out I was wrong and it is right next to the Casino. Anyway, it all turned out great. It actually is confusing there entrance door says Kangwon Land Convention Hotel, but agoda calls it High1 Convention Hotel. There are a few signs saying High1 Convention Hotel, but most of the visible signs say Kangwon Land Convention Hotel. So I was very confused during check in. But the available photos confirmed it and a few visible signs confirmed it. The food around the area is really good, but you must order what the restaurant is good at. World Fusion is good at buffets so eat that and do not order from the menu. Orien is great Japanese food, so dont order the chinese... etc I was afraid the noise and the casino crowd will be annoying, turned out the hotel keeps this crowd far far away from the hotel crowd... so all is great. It is very easy to get to the ski area, it is just a few stops away. In general a bus comes by every 30 min. Ask concierge for the schedule. Or just take a taxi, it is very near and cheap; about 6000 krw.

I didn't realize it when I booked the hostel for my friend and I, but the place has only been open for a month. It looks pristinely new and clean from the top floor (kitchen/dining area), to the basement (theater, computer/meeting room). We stayed in the 8-bed dorm room that was separate from the rest of the guesthouse, and it was also wonderfully clean. I appreciated the individual bunk spaces that came complete with an individual light and outlet for charging electronics. There were also blinds for each bunk to provide privacy and to shut out the main light. The staff are incredibly polite, friendly, and helpful. I was pleasantly surprised that the man working the reception desk spoke English. Additionally, the location of the guesthouse is very convenient -- right across from the main bus terminal and a 5 minute walk from the beach. The bus stop to all parts of the city (including Seoraksan national park) is just outside the guesthouse too. All in all, I would recommend With U Guesthouse, and I'd stay here again the next time I'm in town.

Our stay was excellent. Room next to slopes, so we had a great view all the time. Felt the build quality and hotel furnishings are all high quality, befitting of a 4-star hotel. Service staff could speak English, although not very well. We only have one minor issue. Our stay here was only marred by one incident - when we came back to our room after snowboard, we found our door wide open. We believe this was an honest mistake by the cleaning staff. And we made sure nothing was missing. We had already brought up to the management and they had apologized profusely for it. Just wanted to state the reviews as it is. This issue didn't impact my 5 star review of the hotel.

This resort is a GEM if you're skiing in High 1. Shuttle bus ride takes only 3min, starts fr 845am and runs every half hr in the morning and every hour after noon till 11pm. In my opinion, there's no point paying a premium to stay within the High 1 Resort itself coz you have to take shuttle bus to your ski start point anyway. Best part of this hotel is the ski shop located on its 1st level. We enagaged a ski instructor through them and paid 120,000 won for 2 pax for 2 hours of lesson. Though the instructor knows limited English, we picked up just fine, since most skills can be demonstrated through universal actions. Thank God for this huge savings as the High 1 ski resort charges exhorbitant price for ski lessons (almost 4x more!!). The shop also offers 30% discount on the ski passes/ gondola lift passes. Rental of the gear was also at a steep discount vs High 1. All in all, thanks to the ski shop, we saved a lot for our 3 days of ski. We chose indol type of room. It was warm and cosy, with a small kitchenette. Amenities within are basic but sufficient. There is a Convenience store Iocated in B1 which we got our breakfast and supper from. As per most of the reviewers feedback, indeed, the hotel and ski shop staff do not speak English. Whenever we need to communicate with them, we will tap on the wifi at the lobby and use google translate to show them our message in Korean. And tadah! Everything is resolved! You just have to be more creative, it's not a big issue to us at all! :) I'll definitely stay in Mayhills if I come back to High 1 again.

The hotel is clean. Our room had a stove, refrigerator, and rice cooker, so we could have prepared meals if we wanted to. There is a large convenience store located on the bottom floor. They also have a coin laundry on that level. We ate at the breakfast buffet restaurant. They had a wide variety of choices- both Korean and Western. We walked to Waterpia next to the hotel. Guests get a discount. We would stay here again.
