Value for money, and definitely one of the best hotels we stayed in Japan. Paid just usd10 more when booking for a room with the harbor view. Althru we stayed only one night，we were given a room on the floor that gives the perfect view of the harbor. Teppanyaki at the restaurant on 1F is of high standard althru its interior needs an update. Wonderful people all around hotel. Shuttle bus was very convenient and punctual (of course its Japan!)

Our (double) room had enough space to fit both our 2 x big and 2 x carry on bags, and I must say the mattress was super comfortable and we had the best sleeps of our entire Japan trip in this hotel. We had a non smoking room and there was no smell of smoke in the room at all although the hallway to the lift did have a residual smoke smell. We ate breakfast in and found it to be pretty average. If I chose toast as a breakfast option it means things are ordinary. I had toast every day. We ate dinner at Dans, a little restaurant which is in the same complex as the hotel, but towards the zebra crossing near the train station. It is down at basement level. Can’t fault the service, friendliness of the staff, the food or ambience there - we loved it. The hotel’s proximity to the train station was great and we found it pretty quiet too. We would stay here again but would skip the breakfast and source it elsewhere.

The hotel itself is sited right next to the water. 5 minute walk to the Mosaic Plaza and 1 minute walk to the city look bus stop 1. I have to say the location couldn't be better. We booked for a deluxe King room and the moment we stepped into the room was amazed. The floor to ceiling window looked out to Kobe tower, the pier, the sea and the Mosaic Plaza. The room is huge and there's a small Japanese room with tatami inside the big room also. The best part is the bathroom with a huge round Jacuzzi with Kobe tower view through the window. The room also offers a large selections of amenities includes face masks, bubble bath powder, bath salt, hand and foot moisturising socks and gloves and etc... It's our anniversary trip and the hotel prepared special sweets and fruity cocktail in our room. The breakfast was the best breakfast I have ever had in a hotel. It's a huge set course with fruit juice, soup, salad, yogurt, 8 types of bread, your selection of egg, sausage and tea or coffee. Everything was delicious and they even packed the bread we couldn't finish for us to take away! Strongly recommend everyone to book the hotel with breakfast, totally worth it! I totally enjoyed every minute inside the hotel. The best in Kobe.

What I like best is the amenities. The next is breakfast buffet - it is delicious and healthy. The staff are also nice and accomodating. I was a bit disappointed with how 'small' this hotel is. It feels claustrophobic. It made me regret booking another hotel which I probably would prefer more since they have the view overlooking the harbour while this hotel have the overview of the busy city and the trains.

We stayed at the japanese style room and it was an amazing experience. The room was huge and charming. There were two mats on the floor for beds that were surprisingly comfortable. The room had exposed wood everywhere to give a traditional look but was still outfitted with state of the art lighting, air conditioning, and toilet/bidet system. Staff was extremely accomodating and courteous. I will be looking for Monterrey hotels next time i come to Japan.

This is my first time to kobe and am so glad that I had chosen this Hotel, will definitely recommend this Hotel to everyone. It's one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed, great onsens especially the one on the second floor, very thoughtful amenities for elderly and disables e.g. benches in lifts and even push trolleys for guests to carry food at buffets. Sumptious breakfast and dinner were served plus beautiful view of the Harbour perfected my holiday. I will switch base from Osaka to Kobe for my next visit to Kansai.

I ended up in this hotel after a horrible experience in another hotel from kobe, so I booked Villa Fontaine last minute at a good price. It is extremly well situated, 3-4 minutes walk to Portliner station. I asked for a quiet room and I was given one, I slept like a baby. Good matress, enough space in the room- I booked the superior room.AC sistem was very quiet and efficient. WiFi was not working well but the hotel provided each room with a device you could use for internet and even take it out with you, which was very helpful for us. Breakfast was ok- I am not a big fan of japanese food but they had pastries which were really good. Did not like the coffee- too american for my taste..There are a lot of restaurants and stores around but still this is a quiet place. If you are a light sleeper like me , ask for a quiet room.

We stayed at a room with a private indoor hot spring. We also tried twice the outdoor private hot springs. We enjoyed both of them especially the privacy they offered. The dinner and breakfast offered were great too. Both meals, served in a private room, were sumptuous and delicious. There were 10 courses in our dinner and all dishes were neatly presented. We also ordered a small dish of Kobe beef sirloin. The room we stayed was spacious and newly renovated with many state of the art facilities. Room temperature was maintained comfortably even the temperature outside varied from 3 deg C to 15 deg C. The whole hotel was clean and well maintained. All in all, we enjoyed the stay very much.

Hotel Monte Hermana Amalie is Really the best hotel So far I travel in Japan. And surprisely is really cheap as well. The room is quite big, with comfortable bed. Everything is clean and neat. Very good location. Just beside the Ikuta temple(生田神社), easy to find. 8-10 mins walking from Hansin and JR sanmiya station. 3 mins walking from Metro sannomiya station. It's walking distance to sannomiya shopping street , toumon shopping streets etc. around has many restaurants, bars. I will definitely recommend you to stay here. And I will definitely come back to stay here if I have chance to come to Kobe again!

10 mins walk from JR Kobe with streets of izakaya (Japanese cafe) that open till late. Kobe Station has a small mall and also few JR stops to Sannomiya - shopping district with cheap street shopping or malls like Daimaru, Oioi (highly recommended for ladies), Loft (check out the cosmetics here it's HUGE and empty so you can take your time to try all makeup. Unlike the cosmetic store outside Kobe Station is small and squeezy with people). Hotel provides tooth brush, tooth paste, mitten. Big for 1 pax, squeezy for 2. Dryer is bigger than usual hotels' - which means it dries better. Clean room. Big toilet and shower room. Helpful staff booked my snowboard lesson. All staff speak English.

The staff was all very polite. We booked the tatami room, the bedding was a bit hard in comparison to other tatami rooms we booked on the trip. We booked the room with the dinner package, dinner was very good. Best onsen set dinner we had in the whole trip! quality of food was very high. The gold onsen was very good, it healed my damaged, swollen, blistered feet from all the walking! Will definitely go back for the onsen. Make sure you call hotel to pick you up from station cause the walk uphill ( in summer) is a killer!!!

The b Kobe is a 3 star hotel with 4 star services. Rooms are fairly large for Japanese standard. Internet is free in the room if you bring your own laptop. Best of all excellent coffee is provided free of charge in the lobby. This is the first time I have stayed in a hotel that provides free coffee. If I have to visit Kobe again I will definitely stay in the b Kobe.

We stayed in the Regular Floor Superior Harbor View King for 2 nights. PROS: Extremely good value for money, would rate this as a 5 star hotel. Very grand, service is amazing. It was raining when we arrived and they had towels ready to go as soon as we stepped into reception. Massive room, everything is high quality Good size shower and tub area Separate toilet I can’t speak more highly of how luxurious this hotel was and the professionalism/friendliness of staff. Cons: If breakfast is not included, would skip it. Don’t think it is worth the approx ¥3000 per person 7min walk from station not undercover, so if it’s raining, is a bit of a pain.

Basically, this is a top tier hotel. No complaints at all. Totally worth the money for any occasion. We were able to book a hotel room during the Japanese Golden Week holiday and it worked out no problem. The one little draw back is that you have to be aware of the tram that connects mainland Kobe with the island the Portopia sits on. If you are in Kobe to party and miss the last train, you are in for quite the walk or a cab ride that will cost a few thousand yen. Nothing major, but slightly annoying, so I knock it down one star. Incidentally, road runners pack your shoes because running around the island is great! Flat, but you can really run for quite a bit. Good for stretching the legs and keeping in shape. Shoppers, you are around the corner from IKEA! Nuff said.

This hotel if booked early or during non peak period offers good value to price paid. I booked at least 6 months ahead knowing Kobe being a cruise port, cruisers will come to town a day or two before their sail. As Agoda offers free cancellation, just monitor price drop due to currency or lower prices, cancel and rebooked without any penalty. Great hotel near to train and bus stations. Best hotel in sannomiya without blowing your budget if booked early

Tosen Goshobo is the 2nd hotel I lived when I was at Yuma hot spring. The first one was a 5 star hotel (I won't mention the name in here) but I like Tosen Goshobo more than the other one and I would definitely recommend to everyone. Tosen Goshobo is a japanese style hotel that everything was beyond what I expected. Especially for the 105 mins Aroma therapy massage, the hotel sent a driver taking us to the massage shop which is located at the next street, and took us back when we finished. I am a picky person and I do like to try to have a massage in different hotel in Japan, I must say this was the best! 10/10! I don't have to say much about the room, you would like it anyway! The outdoor hot spring spa was a surprise too, men and women spa is separated by a half metre wall, you can easily talk to your partner and see each other if you want to... Anyway, this is THE hotel you should pick, if you can offer that price. (I went on a saturday, so the price is quite dear)

We spent 2 nights here, and it was wonderful. The best thing is the location; it's just walking distance from Sogo, Loft, the Sannomiya Shopping Street, and many eateries / izakayas. Service was friendly and excellent; even though I made a mistake of booking a double room for a single occupant, they graciously allowed the two of us to stay at no extra charge! They're also giving out delicious free drip coffee, which is a bonus in my book. I'd come back again, anytime.

It was a great pleasure to stay at Arima-Onsen Negiya. We spent a night at this hotel during our honeymoon trip to Kansai region and decided to have a relaxing onsen trip at Arima. The hotel prepared a very nice room for me and my wife (with great view and spacious traditional tatami room)and they prepared a little gift for us. The staff were very friendly and attentive to us. Dinner was served in the room and the experience is great. It is not cheap for the stay (inclusive Kaiseki dinner and breakfast for two) but it is definitely worth it. The onsen is also great, especially the outdoor one.

We staying at the lodge with 4 audlts in total. The service are excellent. Although the english is not that good, but they tried their best to serve you. The wooden house we stayed in was great! We felt so comfortable there. Extrememly suitable for family to stay. We could see stars at night. The view was great. The western dinner was surprise too! Overall staying for one night was not enough. We miss the place.

We stayed in the suit with open private onsen, it was the most excellent room we had in this trip. The room was spacious, it separated from the bedroom and the tatami area. So the kids can sleep in the tatami room. It has own private onsen, where our kids love to enjoy the onsen so much. But it's hard to book this type of room. For our 7 days trip, I can only book for one night of this room. The staffs were polite and helpful. We booked for dinner at the top floor restaurant. The food was good and the view was excellent.

We actually wanted to stay in a hostel but then we noticed that the price for a room in this hotel is almost the same as the price for a mixed dormitory in nearby hostel. With low expectations, we chose this hotel and we did not regret it at all. This hotel is not too far from the station and there are a couple of convenience stores nearby. If you are okay to walk, you can reach Chinatown and the Harbourland from the hotel which will take around 30 minutes. Of course, you can reach other tourist spots such as Kitano in 15-20 minutes on foot. The room is clean and good enough for a couple. The walls are pretty thick so we rest a good deal without disturbance from nearby rooms. Staffs were really friendly and can communicate in English.

I really liked this hotel as the staff are very courteous and kind. Although the staff have limited English capabilities, they still try to understand what you are trying to convey and help in the best way possible. I only followed Google maps in locating hotel by foot and it was a very easy find though a bit far coming from Sannomiya station. The buffet breakfast offered a lot of varieties and it was the best breakfast I had in my entire stay in Japan. Also notable is the room size, it was big enough for a typical size in Japan! From my window I got an excellent view of both the mountains and the port! Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel when staying in Kobe.

Nishimuraya Honkan is a top notch, high quality ryokan. The staff was wonderful, and the facilities including the baths were excellent, better than many of the public baths in this onsen town. I had two different rooms, both lovely, although I was partial to the slightly smaller one (10 tatami, so not small) with the garden view... The ryokan stands out however by the quality of the meals. The food was superb, equivalent to a two star Michelin, and the best I have had in thirteen different trips to Japan over the years. The presentation was also what one can come to expect from such a high quality institution. I was able to compliment the Chef on the quality of service.
