Find Hotels in Mindoro Occidental, Philippines

Actually you can't find hotel with rating 3 up in San Jose, Mindoro and going around I found nothing better than this because maybe few tourists are coming to San Jose because nothing much to see and do here and found eating in restaurant is really cheap. The hotel have few rooms one floor and serve plated breakfast only by order at the restaurant. Open beachfront is about 100meters by foot from the hotel. By the way don't expect also to find a fine dining here. The only thing that amazed me is the Inasakan Beach which has a real powdery white sand and can't find this anywhere in the Philippines.

The bar for customer service in hotels in the Philippines is pretty low; this is doubly so once you get out into the province. I was very happily surprised by SJ Mansion. The property is very new (so who knows how long the standard will remain this high lol), but for now it is exceptionally clean. Our room was brand new. There is a coffee shop on the ground floor. Wifi is available in the room but signal is sporadic. Oddly, our room had not a single electrical outlet, so we had to charge our phones at the front desk. Speaking of the room, our room (either 2K or K2) was dead silent, so if you are a light sleeper like me, go for that one. The owner is a friendly man. I asked him to call me a trike in the morning but instead, he volunteered that there was a free shuttle at 7:30 a.m. Nice. Pro tip: If you're looking for cheap eats, they're about a five-minute walk away. Walk out the front of the hotel, turn left, walk until you hit the roundabout, turn left again.

Well its a quit place on a long beach with less people. You can easily walk to the market place in the town or take a boat trip to Pandan Island where you can snorkel with a big amount of turtles and a lot fishes. On Pandan Island you should check out the way through the jungle to the perfect beach called wild laguna. You can also make a diving or snorkeling trip to Apo Reef which is really nice to dive, on the way you will often see flying fishes and dolphins. The rooms a simple and 10 meter away from the sea so you sleep with the sound of the waves. The food at Gustavs Place is also nice, alternative you can go the market place buy some fresh fish or chicken and let a food-stand get that prepared for you. If I would be near to Sablayan or would like to dive Apo Reef again I would book at Gustavs.

I highly recommend this place whenever you plan to go to either Pandan Island or Apo Reef. Pandan Island is just a 15min.boat ride from this place. Ate Swanee (unsure if correct spelling) was really friendly and accommodating. She'll give you tips and answer your queries. She will take care of everything you need (will call a tricycle if you would want to go to Bayan, arrange reservations for bus tickets going to Manila, and could arrange Sablayan ZipLine reservations).They are very easy to be communicated with (one text/call away). Their cook, Ate Raquel/Rachel (not sure about her name, my apologies), was a great cook! We loved every meal that they have served to us. We would come back here and tag along more friends soon!!! We enjoyed a hassle free stay in this place.

The Sikatuna Beach Hotel has always been one of our favorite places to stay at in San Jose. It is close to the airport and right on the beach and the staff are friendly and helpful. This last trip I stayed in one of the third floor rooms above the reception area. The room is very small and quite dated with some loose floor tiles. The room inspite of being a double room is just big enough for a solo traveler. The a/c was cool and the room pretty quiet which was great because just one floor down is a function room but the noise didn’t reach the room for the most part. The WiFi is usually pretty good but this trip it was not good at all, but from what I found out this was throughout the whole town of San Jose because of provider network problems and not just at the hotel. Overall I would recommend staying at the Sikatuna. It is value for money and a great place to stay and eat. Try the Beef Tapa breakfast, it’s the best we’ve eaten anywhere!

We stayed here for 1 night to break from travelling and while we arranged our ticket for the ferry. , good place for 1 night. there is a good restaurant at the end of the street. good wifi, hot shower. Not much to do in san jose, TOP TIP, if you are after ferry tickets go the tourist office by the council building, they will book you a ticket, and tell you how to pay etc.

I was welcomed by the staff at entrance gate. The check-in time was 2pm but I was immediately checked-in though I arrived much early at 9am. Then I learned that 15 out of 18 rooms were vacant. The hotel's Front Booth (no Front Desk)is managed by 2 sweet young girls Cherry & Renalyn and Brian & Ryan take care of the maintenance work. Rooms are Large, clean & furnished but bathrooms are too small with poor plumbing. It was so inconvenient to take shower over the commode. I tried 3 rooms but flush did not work in any so I had to call maintenance guy after every use. Staff is very Attentive & Caring and ready to go out of the way to help round the clock ... but feel helpless to improve plumbing etc. :( So I moved to another hotel after 2 days though I was getting VIP Treatment there. There is no Internet or WiFi in this hotel. It is located on a quite street but not far away from busy Public Market and provides privacy home like atmosphere.

We arrived in Mindoro a few days early to avoid crossing the sea in the storm and after a very long day of travel we arrived in this wonderful place. Guillaume and Arlene are fantastic hosts and made us feel at home for several days while the storm was passing. On the last day we got to see it in sunny weather and then the place gets even nicer ;-) The bungalows were one of the best we have seen in this price range (solidly built and nice interior). Whether you want to go diving in Apo reef, snorkeling on Pandan island or just enjoying Sablayan and the beach this is the perfect place. We will most definitely come back!
