Traveling to Oman? Find Musandam hotels

We stayed at Six Senses Zighy Bay for 3 nights. The drive there is great with an impressive view onto the resort when you are crossing the mountains. A 4WD car is definitely recommended if you want to drive yourself across the mountain, however you can also park your car at the bottom of the mountain and a hotel car will bring you across. A sports car might have difficulties reaching the bottom of the mountain though. We had a beach villa which offers a lot of privacy, but also has a beautiful view of the ocean. The beach is beautiful, surrounded by the mountains and you can see many crabs walking on the beach from the water digging their little holes and building their "tents". I did see someone cleaning the beach, however he did a poor job as plastic bags and engine oil bottles were still there afterwards, which besides that it distracts from the beauty can be harmful to the environment. More attention should definitely be paid to cleaning the beach. I furthermore pointed out to the butler a few cotton buds lying around in the sand at the bottom of our villa, when we checked into the room. I also mentioned this a day later to the guy cleaning the beach, however when we left (after 3 nights) the cotton buds were still there. A small annoyance, but unexpected of a 5 star hotel. The pool is great and the villa, although very simple in many ways, is super comfy. Amazing bed and the fact that you can choose from a large pillow menu is a nice touch. The bathroom is fine with a rain shower, however we never used it as we only used the outdoor shower! The shower gel/shampoo etc provided smells delicious (Note that you can chose the smell from a menu as well) In terms of cleanliness, the room was very clean. The breakfast is great and room service is of high quality. The only thing we found disappointing was the restaurant Sense on the Edge.

Beautiful surroundings. Good base to explore Musandam. Room was very clean. Linen and towels changed daily and smelled lovely! Breakfast was average. Eclectic mix of food! Helpful staff. The hotel is a 35 minute walk to the port and Lulu Hypermarket, and a 5 minute walk to the petrol station which was handy for buying water, drinks and snacks. I felt very safe walking in Khasab. The hotel offers a free airport shuttle. There are no taxis in the area.

The room was large and clean, and Mr. Eldho was pleasant and helpful. However, the location is hard to find, but it is beautiful and quiet once you get there. We took a peaceful, moonlit walk that night, surrounded by gorgeous stone mountains. Breakfast is simple but adequate - toast, butter, jam, and cheese, with coffee/tea (we don't drink those, so we brought our own hot chocolate mix and milk). There is a kitchen in the villa which you can use, and a fridge, too. This is good for a place to sleep after/before going on one of those wonderful cruises around the fjords of Musandam or mountain safari. Or book these villas as a group/extended family, as each of the villas has several rooms, with a kitchen, sitting room with dining table and chairs, and a large front yard to have barbeques, games, etc. Would my husband and I stay at an Al Taif villa again? If the improvements listed below were made - definitely. If not, perhaps, because it is still a very good price, and there aren't many other options in Khasab. There are either budget or luxury options, without anything much in between, it seems. A few simple things that would make big improvements to the villa(s): 1) add a telephone to the room because if you don't have roaming or a local sim card, you can't contact Mr. Eldho who does not live at the villas. In our case, we were informed that someone would be picking us up at 9.15am. We waited and waited until 9.45am, and were forced to use our UAE phone to call him twice at international roaming charges. 2) Use normal pillow cases instead of pillow shams because you can tell better from a normal pillow case whether it has been washed. Same with the quilt -- place a bedsheet under the quilt so guests can feel that the bedsheet is a clean one. 3) Bleach the white towels so that stains are removed. Even if the towels are washed and clean, if they are stained, they look dirty. Or use darker towels that won't show up old stains.

We choose this hotel really to just an overnight stay in order to-do a dow cruise in the morning. We only used the room facilities, didn't try the pool or restaurant. It wasn't far from the dow cruise pickup point, we brought our own breakfast with us, kitchen and bedrooms were good, included a sitting area, you can order an additional bed. we had three adults and two children in the apartment. We would go back.

Hotel in a superb location, on the beach, at the very side of Musandam Peninsula. Staff a little slow, but very kind and friendly. Rooms are ok and clean, but the hotel as a whole is a bit old and would need refurbishing. Hotel has received a lot of criticisim and negative comments, but: -it is impossible to find another hotel in such a position All the hotels on the Emirate side might offer a better comfort, but the locations are really poor... - it is in Oman, and omani hotel standards can not be compared with the standards in the Emirates. Most of the judgements are biased in this way In the end it is a trade-off: it is better an average hotel in a wonderful place, or a wonderful hotel in a sheety place ? A suggestion: if possible avoid week-ends. There is plenty of tourists coming from Dubai on a day tour and plenty of Arabs running with their Jeeps on the beach (apparently the beach for Arabs it is not a place to relax and take sun, but to run with vehicles like crazy...)

As a foreign tourist coming from far east, it was my huge decision to come visit Oman for my summer vaation. I stayed in Muscat for 2 nights, Salalah 2 nights (all with big name five star hotel), and 3 nights at Atana Musandam resort. Honestly speaking, among the three places, Atana Musandam resort was my best choice and I really enjoyed staying here. 1. Friendly staffs and their services - Very nice people with friendly warm heart. I really enjoyed their hospitality and services. 2. Strategic location in Khasab - Only 1 minute distance from the biggest mall in the town, Lulu hypermart, and free car service is offered whenever you want to go in Khasab. 3. The design of the resorts and structure - the resorts were built based on the traditional Khasab building, and I personally enjoyed staying there. Overall, I will definitely recommend this place to my friends and family, and I'm more than willing to come back to this resort in near future. Just one little thing is that, it would have been much better if the resort asked me if I need a ride from the Khasab airport to their hotel beforehand. I had to arrange my own ways to get to the resort when I landed at the Khasab airport, and it would have been really nice if the resort asked whether I need the ride from aiport to the resort beforehand, given the fact that the resort always offer free car service.
