Traveling to New Caledonia? Find South hotels

The resort is right on a beautiful beach and set in a well kept garden. We had a garden room which is furthest from the beach but just a short walk. The pool is quite small but no one uses it as it is 10 m from the beach. It is not cheap but for the island, which is not cheap, is good value for what you get. Good breakfast too. The only complaint is the gardens rooms are divided in 2. They are very nice, spacious and well appointed but the walls are very thin and you can hear next door quite easily. I would stay here again if I returned to the island.

Staff were friendly and spoke some English (better than our faux French), plenty of good eating & drinking within a 5 minute walk that ranged from pizza bars to 5 star restaurants. Our room was clean & comfortable with good facilities, and the Wi-Fi (free) worked well on mu phone. There's also a couple of PC's in the lobby available for public use. My wife and I were after a relaxing and chilled holiday, and Noumea and Hotel Le Lagon was perfect for this. Would highly recommend Noumea for couples looking for a getaway, and also to families as it is a very safe, kid-friendly and welcoming place.

Expensive but worth every cent. Try to stay at least 2-3 nights at this place, its worth it. Its expensive but do it, go for the bungalow over the water, that is the best place. Dont go half as in this resort, dont do the day trip and dont do the garden view, go all in, book the bungalow over the water for at least 2-3 nights. Watching the sunset at you bungalow and waking up in the morning with the calm clear water, seeing all the sea turtles, sting rays, colorfull fishes at you door step like you are on top of a huge aquarium is what you are paying for. Pay extra for the dinner buffet, go all out, its expensive but this is the place to do it to really feel you have done this holiday right, doing it half as you will be disappointed because it will only make you wish you went all out and before you know it you are leaving the island with regret you didnt this part of your holiday right and the thing is you may never come back to Noumea anymore so you have missed out on the opportunity completely. Noumea in general is pricey even on off peak season, you just imagine that all the value is pretty much Euros equevalent even though is Pacific Franc. Whatever anything would normally cost in Australia or New Zealand, when you buy similar item in Noumea its double the cost. This resort is expensive but worth the money to spend. Though it may look dated from the outside, it just add a more authentic beach rustic vibe to the ambiance. The rooms were huge with separate living area, huge marble tiled bathrooms with separate tub and larch shower, large slimming vanity mirror, large tv and closet and ofcourse your balcony has its own access to the water below for bungalow over the water.

For a hotel in the most expensive city I have ever stayed in this was good value. The rooms are very well laid out and comfortable with great facilities. The pool overlooks the beach and has a great ambience about it. Staff were extremely attentitave and even when one staff member stuffed up a tour booking another quickly solved the issue for me without delay. Noumea generally is a very expensive place to go and stay in relation to eating out and doing tours and facilities that you paid for - eg Spa - were expensive. Maybe the fact that my wife and I go to Bali each year has sploit us for value but when you eat out never get change out of $80 plus drinks for 1 course! But if going to Noumea would definitely recommend this hotel.

The New Caledonia experience was a mixed bag. I think you have to appreciate the social structure and the present political situation to appreciate where New Caledonia is at. It appears that the indigenous people have voted against independence at the moment so all is on hold including capital works on a lovely hotel like the Hilton which has the best position in Noumea. We travelled east on two occasions but found that the east coast is a difficult drive and disappointing on arrival in that the scenery is inspiring and pristine but there are no tourist facilities even for a sandwich for lunch.

This hotel is great. The food is awesome (diner menu mainly), and the location is excellent, right in front of the bay with kayaks, paddle boards, snorkelling gear, and others all available to guests at ease. The hotel's staff was very kind and understanding and manage to arrange for us some specific requests without hesitation (something I did not see in many other hotels while travelling) and we were really impressed with their assistance. Walking distance to the Natural Pools, which is nice. Not a full 5 star review because, well, it is expensive if you compare with other hotels in Noumea. But it's the best hotel in Ile des Pins, so they can charge you to the roof without too much of a problem. But still worth it, and very recommended. If back to Ile des Pins, will definitely stay there again.

Nice piece of France in the South Pacific - best of both worlds! If you want to enjoy a touch of France, then stay here in the centre - it is a short bus ride to the beach to see what you are not missing. Just wander about and relax in the centre, and experience the diverse mix of cultures. If you are there on a Thursday don't miss the events in the Place des Cocotiers (a few minutes walk away) especially if they involve the people and their produce from other areas of New Caledonia. The hotel is ideally placed for shopping, food and leisure. Try your French - the staff are very patient!

The location was a little far from tourist attractions and there are no shops or restaurants within walking distance but on the same token it has a fantastic outlook over the bay and is very relaxing and there is a good restaurant in the hotel . If you are hiring a car or willing to catch a bus or taxi location shouldn’t be too much of a problem . We were in a ground floor apartment at the far end and it was perfect for us as it had a small area for children to play outside. If we left the doors open a beautiful breeze came through the apartment. The unit was serviced and we were able to cook in ours although there is no oven just a microwave . There is a 1.5m concrete retaining wall pretty much the length of the hotel which could be a concern for people with young children. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel especially if you have your own transport.

Nobody at the Hotel spoke English, and they struggled to tell us what was on the menu. We turned up at 1pm and they said we could only have a steak for lunch (even though the kitchen doesn't close until 2pm?) and we weren't able to check into our room until 2pm...the setting is out of the way and lovely, but where were we going to go for an hour? We gave them our arrival time weeks in advance. They asked if we would be having breakfast and we agreed - nowhere was it advertised that it would cost 1600cpf for the breakfast and it was a couple of cold pancakes, jam, cold hard boiled eggs and juice fresh from the packet. We had one dinner at Evasion and chose the curry - it was pretty much a bowl of rice with an un-tasteable dribble of curry sauce and some grilled prawns on top. The following night we opted out of eating there and drove to a hotel just past La Foa - best food we'd eaten in days! I got eaten alive by bugs sitting outside, no bug control was offered.

We had a pleasant stay at Casa del Sole, however there were many disappointing aspects, mainly relating to a lack of facilities. Do not expect modern conveniences such as hand towels, face washers, water glasses or to have someone empty your bin. The styling of the apartment would be considered 'minimalist' at best. The entire hotel is in desperate need of refurbishment. Having said that, the apartment was of a decent size, was comfortable enough but had an amazing view. The location was great. Close to restaurants, beaches and bars. The staff (what we saw of them) were friendly.

I loved the friendliness of the staff, they really made us welcome during our stay - especially the pool staff who were so busy over the weekend! Te bungalows were beautiful and golf course world class but there isn't a whole lot to do aside from golf and lie by the pool which was fine by us. The whole environment was very tranquil, it was perfect for us as a grown up family who desperately needed some rest and relaxation. The beach however was not very swimable which was the only major downside.

This is s place you could easily hang out at and relax for a couple of days while seeing the sites in the area. Units are new Inside and gorgeously constructed. Very comfortable and upscale compared to what we had been getting g in this price range in New Caledonia. Add in a fantastic Thai three course dinner at a reasonable price for NC and a large botanical quality palm garden and you have an ideal setting. It’s not right on the beach but the quality of the amenities more than makes up for it. Beds, although still two put together, were a big step up from many others we found in NC.

I will highly recommend this hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant downstairs was excellent, at first the restaurant looks expensive but dont be deceived. It was actually cheaper and a whole lot better than the restaurants nearby which has awful food and overpriced. We requested the room on the highest floor and the hotel was very kind and granted our request. The view was beautiful, the room was very clean, has good stuff on the room like microwave, fridge, cutleries, kettle, a clothsline for drying clothes in the bathroom. We requested our room to be cleaned everyday as we always go to the beach to swim so our room is a bit messy. The room attendants were nice and trustworthy. I will definitely recommend this place as it hs good value for money and infront of it was the Hilton hotel but their location is a bit far off the beach unlike le Pacific which is a stone throw away infront of the beach. There was a bit of noise but it was not coming from the hotel but from those customised cars which huge loudspeakers attached outside of the car and it was so loud when they pass by but good thing they pass by just very quick. Ps if you would like to get the best experience do request for the highest room so you get the nice view as well. And the staff are very kind they will listen to your request most likely. :)

My husband and I stayed at Le Parc for 3 nights and we simply loved it. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room on the 4th floor was huge and very clean. It wasn't flash, but it sure met our needs. The hotel is across the road from the beach and there are several wonderful restaurants on either side of the hotel to choose from.There is also a bus stop outside the hotel which takes you to the city. You need to catch the number 10 or 11 bus. I highly recommend Le Parc.

we booked rooms that said they included wifi (we were there for work) but when we got their our rooms were in a part of the hotel with no internet service. reception juggled some things around and placed us in other rooms within 30 minutes of our complaint which was amazing. the hotel itself is nice, not over the top. there are some really great bars/restaurants a short walk north in citroen bay, live music and french food, among other things.

We booked through Agoda and were more than happy with the Hotel Ramada Plaza in terms of value for money, location and space compared to previous stays in Noumea when we'd opted for a city centre hotel room and the confined space that that entails. At the Ramada we had a spacious I bedroom apartment with delightful views of the ocean and within an easy walk to the main Anse Vata strip or the local convenience store for baguettes, brie etc. Television reception was excellent with a pleasing choice of French and English channels I was especially happy with the wi fi access as I had been worried after reading earlier reviews on trip advisor. However, after a little finger trouble on my part (which was quickly sorted out by one of the helpful staff at reception) I found access quick and user friendly - enabling mini Ipad access to the market, news, emails, bank transactions etc. Thanks Ramada and Agoda - an enjoyable stay for us once again in this delightful and colourful part of the pacific...

This hotel has a great potential- a great location, nice decor and affordable rates if you want a studio to cook your own meals. The only problem we had was that the reception was always closed and even when it was supposed to be open, there was a sign on the door to call a number for assistance. We left a message, but no reply. There were signs in the room that if we needed anything such as a toaster or hairdryer to contact the reception, but again, no luck. Our stay could have been made more comfortable had it been easier to get in touch with the hotel staff when we needed assistance. Otherwise everything was fine.
