Had everything”
I was travelling by train from Harrogate to Inverness and the plan was to travel onwards by bus to Gairloch, some 70 miles north west. I was supposed to arrive in Inverness at 1707 but train delays meant that I didn't arrive until 2100. I phoned my wife while waiting in Perth and asked her to book a room in a hotel for me ; any hotel. It was the Royal Highland. What a lovely surprise. It was a grand building and the décor was delightful. Booking in was swift and professional. The receptionist was charming. I have seen this hotel, while passing, many times but haven't been in. It will be my first stop in future. Its location is perfect ; middle of the city and right next to the railway station .Spotlessly clean, spacious room, friendly staff and excellent value for money.

Scotland”
The hotel beds were good. The floor as to be expected in a place this old were sloped, but I loved the old fashioned keys and layout. We stayed on the third floor, which kept the noise from upstairs guest away, but the ceilings were sloped, one of our rooms had the slope over the tub/shower combo and made showering at 6' 3" challenging. So you might want to stay on the first or second floor. We loved that it had a restaurant/bar. We enjoyed playing chess and cards on the chess tables in that lobby while having a beer at night. The hotel is right down town, next to the train station, the noise from the train was barely noticeable, there were no night time trains or super early ones. The seagulls were noisier then the trains. Some outside noise was expected because of the age of the hotel/windows. The staff was very friendly and helpful, they printed my travel documents for me and they also doubled as severs after the bar and coffee area's are closed.

Great Hotel shame about the food prices.”
A very comfortable, traditional hotel that is ideal for weary rail travelers. However, ridiculous prices for evening meal and indeed breakfast. I had breakfast £12.50, dear but very good, but £7.50 for a bowl of potato soup in the evening menu plus £23 for a lamb chop caused me to walk out.

Excellent Stay”
I stayed at the Royal Highland Hotel on 1st March 2022 as part of my whistle stop tour of the Highlands. Couldn’t fault the service and my room was clean with all toiletries / brewing gear provided. The hotel has character and grandeur, taking you back to another time in history compared to modern hotels of today. I would certainly stay here again.

Perfect!”
A beautiful, grand old hotel in the centre of the city and walking distance to all the shops and restaurants. Although right next to the train station, didn’t hear a single train . Great location to explore Loch Ness and further afield. Super comfortable beds. Huge beautiful bathroom. A luxury treat on our road trip. Will definitely stay again.

Nearest to the train station”
What attracted us to this hotel was the location , just wake up and walk over next door to the train station. The building may look a like archaic but it’s clean, the staff are very helpful and friendly and the food is good. I like the fact it’s not a modern characterless building. I am staying there again on my return to Inverness.

I needed a hotel to stay by the train station and The Royal Highland is just outside!! The staff at the reception is always welcoming went over and above to find me an umbrella eventhough there’s almost practically none. Never been to a hotel with staffs that are this kind!! The staffs at the breakfast room was also really sweet and accommodating. The clienteles here are also very mature, courteous and always give you nods and smiles. Would certainly stay here again!

Great hotel!”
Huge comfortable room, very clean and extremely comfortable bed, nice tray of teas and coffee, selection of bath products, fresh linen and towels, stones throw from the station. Stayed twice now on my way up to The Highlands and it’s been great.

Location is excellent, next to the train station and at a very close proximity to the bus station. High street is next to it as is the East gate mall. I enjoyed a lot being in such a beautiful place. The hotel is truly generous and the breakfast was pretty good. It was beyond our expectations, Thank you Royal highland for all your hospitality and making my trip to Inverness a very memorable one.

Location perfect, parking is limited which can be a problem but that is the only downside, rooms clean warm well serviced during your stay, staff very helpful and friendly, excellent breakfast and the Ash restaurant serves all your main meal requirements.

My dog was made very welcome”
Was pleased that I was able to bring my dog, who posed for a photo on the beautiful staircase. We arrived late and were able to pop out into the quiet town for a takeaway, then watch the olympics on the large TV. The room was surprisingly large and very comfy with a full sized bath. Would definitely come here again.

Great location and helpful staff”
The hotel is conveniently located to the local amenities and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Large rooms, very comfy beds and WiFi that actually works! Only issue is the lack of parking but not a huge issue as there is secure parking nearby (it is understandable as the hotel is next to the mainline train station). Overall a very good hotel and great service.

Cheap, clean and convenient ”
All I wanted was a safe clean place to get clean after six days backpacking and rest my head prior to an early away from the railway station. The Royal Highland couldn't get any nearer to the station if it tried. Staff were quietly efficient. I had no need of any bar or restaurant facilities so cannot comment other than the seating area looked pleasant and there was a good range of local bottled beers. Room was simple, small, clean and comfortable. Shower excellent, WiFi adequate. A good price and cheaper than nearby 'budget' hotels.
