The location of the hotel was very desolate. The food was not great, beds were extremely hard and uncomfortable. The staff required they keep our passports or pay a fee which was odd. Felt at times like we were in the middle of no where. Very odd layout of the rooms.

Facility of a 5-star hotel with the staff of a 3-star hotel”
The resort is big with indoor heated pool and outdoor pool. Suitable for family relaxing trip. The location is 10m drive from Sunworld Halong Park. Quiet and peaceful neighborhood. And there will be a beach open in front of the hotel in a few months. Some of the equipments in the fitness center is broken. However, the hotel staff needs a lot more training. When I came near the reception desk nobody even greeted us. All 3 receptionist at the front desk seems like they just started working here not long ago. The whole check in process was awkward and and no conversation was made. After check in, I have to ask for them to show me to my room. When I made the booking I clearly stated that it was my birthday and I want to arrange something special for this weekend trip. When I come to the hotel nobody even said happy birthday. And when I came to the pastry corner to buy some cake, I wanted some candles for the celebration. I heard the staff talked to each other that somebody has candles but they turn to me and said we dont have candle today sorry. I love the landscape and the facility in the hotel but I expect a lot more from the staff of a 5 star hotel. They are helpful but not friendly and they dont even smile back when I smile as them. This would have been a great resort if not for the staff.

The stay was great. We booked a villa which can fit 10 person. The space is big than expected. Although the hotel is located some distance from the city, however, the staff will help to call cab. Value for money.

Hotel's room is clean and staff is very friendly. It does not have private beach, so I don't think it can be considered as 5 stars resort though. We had to drive more than 5km to go to the beach.

Suitable for family with kids, recommend for group of 3-4 families to book full villa. Facilities are just enough and acceptable. Staffs are good, friendly and very supportive.

Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thu Phuong was seriously nice - very accommodating and we had a bad experience with a cab driver there, and she got the hotel to reimburse us. Just a solid experience all round.

Not meet standard of 4 stars ”
I have booked 3 rooms, which have sea view via agoda. But, they just arranged 2 rooms with sea view and the rest is different with lower standard. We found out the issue a bit late,, when every bodies in that room settled down after all. So they propsed to change the room after my comment, but it was late bcos every ones do not want to park their luggages again to move out. Further more, the hospitality is also not good: just served a welcome drink after asked, nobody help to come to the room as well... Finally, the Royal Lotus Halong resort & spa is not worth five stars hotel/resort as it’s recommended.

This is great for family or group vacation, I will definitely come back. The gym facilities need more equipment, it just not enough to take exercises unless you only want the running machine. My living room got wet on a pouring night.

Great staff but really disappointed by dishonest advertising of non-existant facilities”
Place is brand new, as in still being built. This meant big modern rooms, which were great. Staff also did their best to look after us - free shuttle to night market was a nice touch. Breakfast was exceptional, huge variety of Vietnamese and international fare. Again staff really cheerful and attentive. Unfortunately, we were really disappointed to find that, despite the hotel advertising that they had both a gym and a spa, they had neither. Although the pool was good, we had booked on the premise that we could make use of these facilities, and found it pretty disappointing that the management had misinformed us about them (i.e. lied)

Very disappointing 5 star hotel ”
This was the hardest bed I have ever slept in, the room looking clean but the walls and the curtains in the room were filthy. The compound looks like it could be condos in Arizona. The hotel is about a 5 minute cab to the the main areauy of Halong. I was very disappointed with our stay.

Rat in the cupboard ”
We believed we were getting a villa that we could do simple cooking or warming up. Upon arrival we were told no cooking what’s so ever. In the area they call the kitchen there was a fridge table and chairs and a couch. .... No plates cups bowls knives forks no TV nothing . We were advise upon checking in that there was no key for the front door and it was to be left open. This was unacceptable they found a key but each night a trades person had to adjust the door so it could lock, each bedroom was locked with a swipe card a total of 3 levels not at all idea with young children I would call this motel style rooms. Ideal for bus groups not family groups The breakfast was good and the staff did there best to assist us. They were very nazi about lending a knife to chop up fruit I was asked to bring back immediately guards roamed around making sure you did not dry your bathers on any of the outdoor fencing. Pity they didn’t give you a close horse as you would except in a villa

Room could have done with updating. Lot of scruff marks. Balcony needs table and chairs(it has enough room) instead of a big pit plant that hides the little view there was. Fabric furniture in hotel restaurant and foyer stained. Had to ask for toilet paper as no housekeeping called on first morning. Pool area looked lovely but was deserted of staff, so not sure how you could get a drink if needed. Building work went on all night next door and was especially noisy until 1am and from 5.30am. I feel we should be informed of this when booking. Decided to checkout after 2 nights, with help from Agoda . Met manager the next day who was very nice but it was too little to late😕
