Unexpectedly great!”
My wife and I were not expecting a lot for what we paid, but it turned out to be great. Really enjoyed the staff, great location, very clean, nice facilities in the basement if you wanted to save further money and prepare your own meals. Nice neighborhood, walkable distances to the harbour. Near a nice little park (Myers). Lots of food options nearby. On the minus side, very small rooms, but well set up. No air conditioning, but a very functional ceiling fan. It never once gave us that uneasy travellers feeling that we were in a questionable area or a dodgy establishment. Well managed, very nice staff, both at the front desk and cleaning. A bargain.

Bed for the night”
I've stayed at City Lodge a few times now and for different reasons (business, social) but this time all I needed was a bed for the night to get a rest between an action packed weekend of activities. It is in a good location with on-site parking available (limited spaces & fees apply)and mostly downhill walking to the city and Viaduct (of course all uphill on the way back). Rooms are compact but comfortable with an ensuite, small fridge & tea/coffee facilities. Full communal kitchen also available for guests to use with shared lounge spaces also on offer. This is not a luxury hotel but has absolutely all you need for an overnight stay. Secure & safe it is a good option for single female travellers as well as families/ groups.

Quiet area, room is small but new, clean and comfortable, share kitchen is big and perfect, lift for up and down, 8 minutes walk to sky towel and Asian market, near bus station, wonderful and smiling staff

Our flight was delayed and we arrived very early in the morning for our one night stay. The person checking us in gave us a later checkout without us asking. Our stay was clean and quiet.

Small but did the job”
Was happy with my choice … the single room I got in the end was adequate.. the shape of the room worked in well with the bed size space .. For the cost it really was good value .. would stay again.

The room is better than the pictures. Very comfy and quiet. There's a hugh kitchen down the basement, you can cook there. Everything is great. Will visit again.

The entire team of service including the front desk, the room service and kitchen hygiene service are both responsive and friendly. We deeply appreciate the help extended by both Janaka and Deepak of the front desk. They had gone the extra miles to book for us the taxis which is reliable and comfortable several times.

I stayed here for 3 nights, it was pleasant stay, the room was quite big for me since i was travelled by myself. The room was clean and provided everything that i need ed for. I would come back again if i come to auckland again

Their tourist information booklet in the room was excellent. Gave places to visit, buses to catch with times and prices, places to eat that were close and much more. There was a kitchen available if you wanted to cook meals and a mini market across the road. Tea, coffee and a fridge in the room. Shower doors could do with an up-grade but the room was very clean. Staff were very friendly. Only drawback was had to pay for internet. $6 nz for 24 hours. Had a weekly rate available.

I love the kitchen and lounge area in the basement. It's spacious and sparkling clean. The bed and pillows are a tad too soft for my liking. There's no air conditioning in the room while the windows do not have a wide enough opening this it made the room a little under ventilated. I would stay during the cooler months but not during summer.
