A wonderful respite just under 2 hours from Tokyo tucked in nature by a running river._”
We are so glad we chose this place for our family.. It’s a beautiful traditional building with history that is evident the moment you step foot inside. We were received a very warmly Arrived at noon and check in was 3 pm , we took the bus to see the beautiful Hakune shrine on the lake and we were glad we did as it added to the peaceful mindset of the whole experience and atmosphere. Upon check in shown room and instructions for the onsen( hot spring baths) given robe and slippers. The baths are wonderful and so relaxing and they arranged a massage for us afterwards which we had prearranged . Incredibly relaxed ( and happy) . We had included 1/2 board so dinner was set up in our room, it was wonderful, delicious , fresh and memorable. Pre dinner gin and tonic and sake with dinner. We slept like babies. I recommend to anyone in need of recharge. Returned to Tokyo as new. Only regret is not getting the name of our lovely attendant but will remember her smile and kindness forever

So so amazing!!”
It was the best place ever. The food was the best meals I’ve ever eaten, you get your value in them alone. The staff were incredible helpful when explaining everything from the food to the baths. The baths were the perfect temperate and so clean and relaxing. Most amazing place, cannot recommend it enough!!

Fantastic stay”
This is absolutely amazing place, very beautiful building, which looks like it was in old Japanese movie (in a good way), with pond with fishes and small garden. The area around is also beautiful – little river, the small path in a woods that leads to old temple, where is no one but you. Onsen is nice, it is very cozy. The Japanese dinner was amazing. Definitely recommend this to everyone who planning to visit Japan.

All the best”
This is my second visit and I stayed with my family. The hotel is antique, staff friendly, and the food is delicious. The menu of meals served in the hotel seems to be better in autumn than in summer. And it is convenient there is a vending machine in front of the bathroom. nice

Exceptional”
The meals served in your room were amazing! Such a presentation! A delightful experience and delicious! Mami was very friendly and helpful. She made me feel so welcome even though I didn’t speak Japanese. Even when I was leaving she went out of her way to help me get wherever it was I was going. My room over looked the river and the trees with their autumnal colors, just gorgeous. I just wanted to sit by that window and read while listening to the sounds of the river for my entire stay because it was so pleasant. Thank you! I will recommend your ryokan to everyone!!

Amazing Ryokan”
Loved everything about it, from the architectural charm, to the friendly staff, to the amazing food. The onsen, both public and private, were great.

Amazing place to stay. Great for families. I only wouldn't recommend it for someone travelling solo as I think it would be a bit lonely.

Exceptional”
We believed that we got the best room at the corner facing the river and garden. Albeit the furthest room, we enjoyed the silence and peace from all the hustle & bustle in the ryokan, especially when the wooden flooring creaked from ppl walking on it. The service we received was awesome; from porters bringing our luggage all the way to the room, keeping our shoes in the rack with our names on it, serving us delicious fresh breakfast & dinner to laying out our futons at night. Basically each room had a dedicated server and our server was a very hardworking woman named Yoshimura. She even catered to our request to have a late dinner after watching rugby game. In return, she thanked us for our kindness in understanding her situation after we agreed to have a faster dinner. Beautiful old ryokan with 3 onsen, excellent service, lovely food, if you don't mind sharing toilet facilities (the only downside)

A decent 1st time one night taster to a ryokan”
Pros: Location Meals are a decent introduction to a traditional meal. Cons: One of Onsens were pretty run down and there was no cold water tap to cool down the extremely hot water.

A unique cultural experience”
Our party of 3 chose Ryokan Fukuzumiro for an overnight stay with breakfast included. It was our first ryokan experience and we found it magical. We were warmly welcomed. Despite our lack of Japanese language skills, we quickly absorbed the routines and rituals that are a feature of traditional inns. This building is 100 years old and some rooms, including ours, had their own stories of artists, actors and writers who had been regular visitors. Our tatami rooms provided spaces for eating and sleeping, a view of the river and the sound of flowing water. For good measure, there is a small enclosed garden with a pond of carp on the way to the dining room. The three onsens in the Ryokan are unique, hot and refreshing. The gracious lady, who served us throughout, created a magnificent Japanese style breakfast in our own rooms in the morning. Our one regret was that we had not arranged to have our evening meal on the premises. Hakone-Yumoto is a few minutes walk away and the Tozan train station is up a flight of steps opposite the Ryokan, so it is perfect for sightseeing. We were given a little food gift when we checked out in the morning, having had an experience of Japanese culture that we will remember with pleasure for years to come.

Amazing cultural experience”
I had an amazing stay at Ryokan Fukuzumiro! It is located about 10 mins walk from the Hakone Yumoto station, a quiet location besided the river. The building is very traditional with its own onsen. I loved my small japanese room overlooking the river, with tatami mat! Honda-san was my hostess for my staff and she was friendly and welcoming. Dinner and breakfast was great and served on a small table on the tatami mat. Overall a very relaxing cultural experience. Highly recommended to stay at a ryokan! :)

Exceptional service, great onsens, amazing food and well maintained!”
Fukuzumiro is an amazing traditional Japanese inn that is rustic, but very well maintained. The amenities were clean. They allowed us to drop off our luggages before check in time so we can explore Hakone without our bags. Once we arrive to the Ryokan to check in, you are given a warm towel ( perfect for the rainy day we had) then we were given a tour of the in before we are provided with dessert (mochi) and tea in our room. They have two big baths and one private bath ( offered for free). You are provided with yukatas, socks, slippers and towels for your bath. The traditional dinner (kaiseki ryuri) was amazing! The food was delicious and there was a lot of it!The staff provide you very simple instructions for some of the dishes but there is no detailed menu that described all the dishes. The breakfast ( we got the Japanese one) was as good as dinner. We got the river view room which was very spacious. The room provided us with a great view of the river. The river can be loud.

10/10 Would Recommend For First-timers”
Fukuzumiro is an excellent ryokan for first-timers in Japan. There are 2-3 staff members who understand basic to advanced English. There are English instructions available about the amenities. An English speaking staff member will explain the setup of the traditional room to you, and the ryokan etiquette (wearing the traditional robes, slippers, etc.) If you choose to have dinner and/or breakfast at the ryokan, an English speaking staff member will be your server and explain kaiseki to you. Our stay here introduced us to such an amazing and memorable experience. The staff were very friendly, polite, and attentive. The building is old with some wear and tear, but it is still gorgeous nonetheless. We would definitely come back to Fukuzumiro.

honeymoon highlight”
It was a superb experience and relaxing for our honeymoon, 4 days in tokyo was tiring, we arrived in the afternoon, the staff makes us welcome even more when they asked about our passport, our trip, they took of our sandals, put them on a desginated drawer with our name in it, felt really special, one host one guest experience, they lead us to the rooms and facilities of the ryokan while wearing a yukata, they have private onsen which you can use with your own time, they have male and female onsen which has the theme of natural one and the one with the big bowl in it, it was super relaxing and higher than our expectation, the room was spacious and comfy futon, the downside is only the food aren't that great, we had a breakfast, we didn't take the dinner plan since its 4.000 yen each, i recommend upon check in, just go to oook for restaurant for a late dinner before 5 p.m since everything is practically closed in hakone after 5 p.m, we managed to find little restaurant near hakone yumoto station. Overall it was super great and beware the onsen was crazy hot temperature but its japan standard, and they have koi pond. Relaxing !!! Best day in japan.

Best service ever!”
This was my first time staying at a Ryokan and I was thrilled. The service was something you cannot find elsewhere, not even in a 5-star hotel. The Obachaan(grandma) who took care of us was so kind. She would be the only reason I go back to Hakone since I find there is not much to Hakone. Communication was a little bit challenging as they do not speak much English. The futon were thick and soft though a bit dusty probably from being kept in the cupboard and since I'm allergic to dust, I didn't get a very good sleep. Breakfast and Dinner is essential if you want to enjoy the whole ryokan experience. The food was fantastic.

An amazing experience!”
For those who dont know, a 'ryokan' is a traditional Japanese inn that serves travelers. They have tatami-matted rooms, communal baths, and visitors generally wear yukatas supplied in the ryokan. Ryokan Fukuzumiro is located next to a creek and in a gorgeous area. The inn may be old but is full of charm. The staff were friendly and extremely efficient. The tended to our every need and the kaiseki dinner was delicious. The communal baths are an interesting experience. There is one room that can be used as a private bath for the self-conscious. The ryokan is on the main road only a minute's walk from the bus stops. We would highly recommend this enchanting ryokan.
