Easy access from Yufuin station, great value for money with private onsen”
Ryokan Jyounoyu is good choice to stay at Yufuin just only 5-8 minutes walk from Yufuin station. The staffs are friendly even they are not fluent in English but they understand basic English and try to communicate. There is private onsen on roof top but you have to book when you check in also there are other choices to enjoy other 2 onsen pool here. Breakfast is good. Also they have bicycle for rent 500 Yen / 6 hours.

Wonderful stayed”
My husband and I had a great time staying at Jyounoyu, the private onsen was good , the ladies staff were very friendly and made us feel special and welcome! The Kaiseki dinner in our room was fantastic , breakfast was delicious too ! The location was super convenient, bus terminal and jr station are less than 5mins by foot ! There are many restaurants and desserts shops all by walking distance!

Recommend! Will stay here if I'm back to Yufuin ”
Nice ryokan with very friendly staffs. Room is clean and tidy. Close to Yufuin station only 4 min walk. Nice semi open-aired onsen on 1F, 3F and full open-aired one on rooftop (4F). Only drawback, esp. for people with huge luggage, is no elevator here. Though my family and I have a little difficulty dragging our luggages down from 2F to lobby when we checked out (when we check-in after leaving our luggages at the ryokan and go around since we arrived early. the staff had already bring our luggages to the room), I will stay here again if I have a chance to go back to Yufuin.

Starting to show its age”
Ryokan Jyounoyu is quiet, nestled in the mountains and surrounded by trees with pretty views of the surrounding peaks and town below. They do an admirable job of keeping the facilities in shape but the place is starting to show a little wear. Most of it's charm lies in its age of course as well. The food is quite good tho nothing spectacular. The outdoor onsen facilities themselves are also satisfactory.

Excellent stay in a traditional tatami bed Ryokan”
We slept well on the tatami bed! Breakfast was a good traditional Japanese meal! Private bath from the spring water on the roof top is fantastic overseeing Mt Yufu! However we will not stay for >2 days as we are not used to the room without proper international tables n chairs due to our age as bending knees hurt !

Good area, nearest the Yufuin's station and you can walk or bike about 5-8 minutes from station to Ryokan. The ryokan has private onsen, i love it very much, and public onsen. And the room was clean and big room but the bathroom is rather small for me.

Great location & friendly staff”
It's my first time stay in traditional Japanese Ryokan & I enjoyed my stay. Breakfast was great & it's different every morning. They provide private hot spring at roof top, booking required. Also hot spring pool for male & female, no booking required. Free parking & food around the area really nice. All within walking distance

We wanted to experience the Japanese Ryokan. But, it was a typical hotel except that we slept on the dadami floor. Hot spring was okay since we were able to use it with reservation.

Very expensive and unpleasant stay”
The only good thing about this traditional Japanese ryokan is its hot spring bath. We are a group of four and booked this ryokan four months ago for USD 126 per room night without breakfast. The local Japanese paid no more than JPY 10,000 (USD 80)for this type of ryokan with dinner and breakfast package. We asked for the breakfast and prepared to pay the extra for that but they simply denied our request. It was very difficult to find a decent restaurant around the ryokan without driving the car at night for the dinner. The next morning when we checked out at 0830 hours without taking any breakfast, we saw a big group of the Japanese ryokan guests enjoying their breakfast in the common dinning room. The man at the service counter was unfriendly though. We told him that one of our rooms had only one big tower instead of two, he couldn't believed it and keep insisting that there were two big towels in each room. He was wrong. The house maid later sent to us the tower. The private hot spring on the rooftop was very nice. The hot spring bath at the 3rd level was also good. However the one at the ground floor was something you wish to forget it. The height of the stools at the cleaning stations was about 6 cm. It was so low that I almost fell down when I first sat on it. This is definitely not a 3-star hotel. I will rate them 1.5-star. And never pay for anything more than JPY 10,000 or equivalent for this kind of ryokan.

The location of the Ryokan is very good and the breakfast was also delicious. The employees were kind, but I was very disappointed with the high-pressure attitude of the owner. So I will not go there next time.

Quite expensive. We are four people (2 families) to stay at Ryokan Jyounoyu, however, only 1 timeslot for us to book the private bathroom.

Lovely hotel!!”
Walking from JR station about 10 mins , I thought it s very easy to find. The price was reasonable and not many guests on the night i stayed . So nobody attended onsen ! Just me! The room was nice and staffs tried to commucate in english. It was lovely staying here:)

Great value, friendly staff ”
We booked the plan with breakfast but ended up not being able to eat the breakfast because our bus departed very early. The staff provided sandwich, fruit juice and bottled water for us instead which we really appreciated. Of course we paid for breakfast in first place, but they were not obliged to provide an alternative. We would definitely come back again if we revisit Yufuin. The location of the hotel is also superb.

Comfortable Stay”
Feel very much like home. Staff was friendly & honest as I have left my camera on the reception area & totally forgotten until 2 hrs later. Owner was so nice to keep it for me. Dinner was served in room with many varieties & it was delicious, sashimi was very fresh. Morning breakfast was good too. Last but not least, the outdoor private steam bath was fantastic that I enjoyed the quietness & the cold breeze blowing on me. Will return if I have the chance.
